In the deep passage, it was so dark that we couldn't see our hands in front of us; only the sound of our breathing echoed in the darkness. Mr. Du led the way, holding a luminous pearl that emitted a faint glow, illuminating the ancient runes on the stone walls.
"These runes are part of an ancient formation used to protect the Heavenly Mechanism Mirror," Mr. Du's voice echoed in the vast passage. "Do not touch them, or it will trigger a deadly array."
We moved cautiously forward, not knowing how long we had been walking, when suddenly a glimmer of light appeared ahead.
"We're here," Mr. Du said, his voice tinged with fatigue.
We passed through the narrow passage and were greeted by a vast underground cavern, its ceiling adorned with countless luminous pearls that lit up the cave as if it were daytime.
In the center of the cavern floated a sword radiating golden light. The sword was crystal clear, with intricate runes carved along its blade, emanating a heart-stopping power.
"Is this the Dawn's Blade?" I couldn't help but exclaim.
"Exactly," Mr. Du nodded. "Legend has it that the Dawn's Blade was forged by an ancient god craftsman using meteorite iron from beyond the heavens, possessing world-destroying power. Only those with a deep connection can unleash its true might."
Du Ming took my hand, his gaze resolute. "Lingxi, let's try it together."
We approached the Dawn's Blade and simultaneously reached out to grasp its hilt.
Buzz—
The Dawn's Blade emitted a clear ringing sound, its brilliance intensifying as a powerful force surged into our bodies, binding us tightly together.
"Feel each other with your hearts and merge your powers!" Mr. Du's voice rang in our ears.
I closed my eyes and focused on sensing Du Ming's presence—his breath, his heartbeat, his warmth, and his strength all clearly entered my mind.
Our powers gradually merged, and the light of the Dawn's Blade grew ever brighter, illuminating the entire cavern.
Just then, a deafening roar echoed from deep within the cave.
"Who dares to trespass in this forbidden place!"
The roar shook my eardrums painfully as an overwhelming pressure descended upon us, nearly crushing me. I opened my eyes to see a massive shadow slowly emerging from the depths of the cave. The figure was indistinct, but two blood-red eyes glinted menacingly in the darkness, exuding an oppressive aura of evil.
"The Demon God!" Mr. Du exclaimed, his face turning pale.
A chill ran through me as I tightened my grip on the Dawn's Blade. Was this truly the Demon God that plagued the Cultivation World?
The Demon God fixed its blood-red eyes on the Dawn's Blade in our hands and sneered with greed: "The Dawn's Blade? I never expected it to fall into your hands. But you think you can wield this ancient artifact?"
Before it finished speaking, the Demon God struck suddenly with a massive black claw that sliced through the air towards us. I reacted quickly and swung the Dawn's Blade to block the attack. There was a loud clang as a powerful force knocked me back several steps, leaving my palms numb.
"Lingxi!" Du Ming caught me and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
I shook my head and looked up at the Demon God, my eyes filled with fighting spirit. The Demon God's power was indeed formidable, but we were not to be underestimated!
"Du Ming, let's go together!" I tightened my grip on Dawn's Blade as the spiritual energy within me surged wildly.
Du Ming nodded and fought alongside me. We coordinated perfectly, one attacking while the other defended, with Dawn's Blade shimmering with golden light, neutralizing the Demon God's attacks one by one.
However, the Demon God was an ancient beast of great strength, and despite our best efforts, we gradually found ourselves at a disadvantage. Just then, a roar of battle echoed from outside the cave as Bai Wei and Mr. Du arrived with a group of cultivators, joining the fray.
"Demon God, today is your day of reckoning!" Bai Wei declared, wielding a long sword with grace.
"All cultivators, follow my lead and slay the Demon God!" Mr. Du shouted loudly.
In an instant, the battle cries filled the air, and the brilliance of magical artifacts illuminated the entire cave. The cultivators united as one to confront the Demon God, their morale soaring.
Seeing this scene ignited a glimmer of hope in my heart. Perhaps we could truly defeat the Demon God and save the Cultivation World!
Under the siege of numerous cultivators, the Demon God began to show signs of fatigue. He roared in anger but could not withstand the brilliance of Dawn's Blade. Du Ming and I fought side by side; it felt as if Dawn's Blade had come alive in our hands, its golden light growing ever more dazzling, illuminating the cave like daylight.
"Lingxi, let us use the power of Dawn's Blade to bring light to the entire Cultivation World!" Du Ming's voice rang in my ears, firm and powerful.
I nodded heavily and joined him in channeling our spiritual energy into Dawn's Blade. In an instant, its light broke free from the confines of the cave and soared into the sky! The radiance was so bright that it resembled a sun rising in darkness, dispelling the gloom that hung over the Cultivation World.
I felt a powerful force surge from Dawn's Blade, coursing through my entire body. Looking down, I saw myself enveloped in golden light as if clad in golden armor. I looked up at Du Ming; he too was surrounded by golden light, his gaze resolute and filled with strength.
"Demon God, your end has come!" Du Ming's voice thundered like lightning across the entire Cultivation World.
The Demon God let out a reluctant roar and attempted to strike back but was immobilized by the brilliance of Dawn's Blade. Seizing the opportunity, Du Ming and I swung our Dawn's Blade simultaneously; two streams of golden sword energy intertwined to form a massive beam of light that struck down upon the Demon God.
"Boom!"
With a tremendous explosion, the Demon God's figure disintegrated into ashes within the golden light.
The Cultivation World returned to tranquility as sunlight poured down upon the earth once more. The joy of surviving filled everyone's faces as they cheered and celebrated this hard-won victory.
However, Du Ming and I did not fully relax. Although the Demon God had been vanquished, had all his underlying schemes truly been revealed?
"Du Ming, don't you think things seem too easy?" I looked at Du Ming with an uneasy feeling in my heart.
Du Ming also put away his smile, his brow slightly furrowed: "You're right; I find it strange too. The Demon God's power seemed significantly weakened, and before he died, there appeared to be some secret hidden in his eyes..."
A sense of dread settled in my heart; it seemed that this battle's conclusion did not signify an end to everything—perhaps it was just a beginning...
