The sky was drenched in blood, as if heralding the arrival of a catastrophe. I struggled to contain the surging energy within me, gritting my teeth as I completed the final seal of the Forbidden Technique. Du Ming stood beside me, his face pale as paper, yet he held my hand tightly, continuously channeling his spiritual energy into me.
“Lingxi, hang in there!” His voice trembled slightly but was unwaveringly firm.
I focused on stabilizing my mind and poured the last bit of spiritual energy into the seal. In an instant, a beam of golden light shot up into the sky, tearing a rift through the blood-red haze. I felt a powerful force envelop me, and my consciousness began to blur, with Du Ming's anxious shouts faintly reaching my ears…
When I awoke again, I found myself lying on a bed in the Du Family's secret chamber. Bai Wei was by my side, and upon seeing me awake, she burst into tears of joy. “Lingxi, you’re finally awake! You scared me to death!”
“How long was I unconscious?” I struggled to sit up, feeling sore and weak all over.
“It’s been three days and nights.” Bai Wei helped support me while looking worried. “How do you feel now? Is there anywhere uncomfortable?”
“I’m fine.” I shook my head and looked around. “Where’s Du Ming?”
“Oh, he’s been in the study these past few days poring over ancient texts, searching for ways to combat the Demon God.” Bai Wei said, her face showing a hint of concern. “He hasn’t slept much and has lost quite a bit of weight.”
My heart trembled slightly as Du Ming's weary yet resolute face flashed in my mind. I knew that he was exerting himself just as much as I was to fight against the Demon God.
“Bai Wei, during this time, I need to strengthen my mental training.” I took a deep breath, my gaze resolute. “Only when my mental strength is strong enough can I resist the Demon God’s control and protect myself at critical moments—protect Du Ming and everyone else I want to safeguard!”
Bai Wei nodded solemnly. “Alright! I’ll help you!”
Thus, with Bai Wei’s assistance, I began an arduous journey of mental training. Meanwhile, Du Ming utilized family resources to gather various ancient texts and treasures in search of new clues to combat the Demon God. We were both striving for the same goal: to protect our shared home and our love for each other…
I took a deep breath and suppressed the chaotic thoughts in my mind, looking steadfastly at Du Ming. “Let’s go to the forbidden area.”
Du Ming nodded slightly, taking my hand; the warmth from his palm conveyed silent determination.
Following the records in the ancient texts, we traversed through a fog-laden forest and crossed treacherous swamps until we finally reached the entrance of the forbidden area. Before us lay a desolate scene; chilling winds howled ominously.
“Legend has it that this place is the site of an ancient battle filled with dangers and unknowns,” Du Ming said quietly, his tone serious.
I nodded and tightened my grip on the Peach Wood Sword, vigilantly scanning our surroundings.
As soon as we stepped into the forbidden area, a violent tremor shook beneath our feet; cracks appeared in the ground as enormous spiders crawled out from below, their crimson eyes fixated on us.
“Be careful!” I shouted sharply, swinging my Peach Wood Sword as beams of golden light shot out, slaying the approaching spiders.
Du Ming summoned his life treasure—a long knife radiating an icy chill—its blade flashing as it cleaved several spiders attempting to ambush me in half.
We stood back-to-back, coordinating seamlessly to fend off the swarm of spiders. These creatures were not only massive but also extremely venomous; being bitten would lead to dire consequences.
“There are too many of these spiders; at this rate, we’ll be worn out,” I said anxiously while fending off their attacks.
Du Ming calmly surveyed our surroundings when suddenly his gaze landed on a large stone not far away that bore strange runes carved into its surface.
“Lingxi, look at that giant rock!” Du Ming pointed at the boulder and exclaimed loudly, “Those runes must be the key to controlling these spiders!”
I followed Du Ming's gaze and indeed found that the runes on the boulder were emitting a faint aura of spiritual energy, very similar to the presence of the spiders.
“I'll go destroy those runes; you try to hold them off!” I decided quickly, and after saying that, I rushed towards the boulder.
“Be careful!” Du Ming shouted worriedly, wielding his long knife more fiercely to clear a path for me to reach the boulder.
I successfully destroyed the runes on the boulder, causing the spiders to lose control and collapse onto the ground, turning into pools of black liquid. Du Ming and I took a moment to catch our breath before continuing deeper into the forbidden area.
In the depths of the forbidden area, the spiritual energy was even denser, but it was also filled with unknown dangers. We moved cautiously when suddenly, I felt my feet give way, and I began to fall.
“Lingxi!” Du Ming exclaimed in shock, reaching out to grab me but ended up falling alongside me.
We landed in a massive cave, where a faint light illuminated the surroundings. To my astonishment, the cave was filled with various ancient books and magical artifacts. At the deepest part of the cave stood an ancient stone platform, upon which rested an old book.
“What is that?” I asked curiously, pointing at the ancient book.
Du Ming stepped forward to examine it closely, his face lighting up with excitement. “If I'm not mistaken, this should be the legendary Sealing Secret Classic!”
My heart raced; the Sealing Secret Classic was an ancient text that recorded various sealing techniques said to even be able to seal ancient demon gods. If we could obtain it, perhaps we could find a way to seal the demon god within Du Ming.
We carefully approached the stone platform and opened the ancient book. The text was obscure and difficult to understand; it took me a long time to grasp some of its contents. The Sealing Secret Classic was indeed profound, documenting various magical sealing techniques, including one secret method that could enhance sealing power.
I was overjoyed and quickly shared this discovery with Du Ming.
“That’s great!” Hope filled Du Ming's eyes. “As long as we can master this secret method, we can completely seal away the demon god inside me!”
To quickly learn the sealing techniques from the text, I began studying day and night. I read and reread the words in the ancient book, trying to comprehend its mysteries. In order to grasp it faster, I even exhausted my own spiritual energy time and again in my attempts. Du Ming watched with concern but knew this was our only hope.
Time flew by, and we had spent a whole month in the cave. My cultivation had made tremendous progress during this time, and my understanding of the Sealing Secret Classic deepened significantly.
Just as we were preparing to leave the cave and implement our new sealing plan, a shadow suddenly appeared before us.
“Did you think hiding here would allow you to escape my tracking?” The shadow sneered coldly, his tone filled with disdain.
I was startled and looked up to see a figure dressed in black; his face was hidden in darkness, making it impossible to discern his true appearance. However, he emanated a powerful aura that made me feel incredibly oppressed.
“Who are you?” Du Ming stepped forward protectively behind me and asked coldly.
“Who I am is not important; what matters is that I know your plan and what you intend to do,” said the figure in black slowly. “But I can offer you an opportunity—a way to completely resolve your demon god problem.”
