It's different from what I imagined; in fact, I'm not sad at all. Instead, I feel a sense of relief. I just suddenly feel a bit tired. After all, we were together for more than two years, and suddenly breaking up inevitably leaves a void in my heart. Not long after we broke up, he officially announced it. I came across his post on social media. In the photo, he was passionately kissing her. That girl was someone he had once had feelings for, which led to an argument between us. I never expected that she would become his backup. His caption was particularly eye-catching, something about how after all the twists and turns, he finally met the girl he loved the most, and this time he wouldn't let her down. I almost felt sick. A scumbag is always good at pretending to be deep and emotional.
I scrolled down to his comments section, and among a sea of congratulatory messages, there was one standout comment. It was from Zhou Ran, and I realized Zhou Ran was standing up for me. "Dude, wasn't it just a few days ago that you were with someone else? You switched so quickly?" God knows how happy I was to see that comment; I laughed out loud. Perhaps he felt embarrassed because not long after, the comment was deleted.
Just thinking about his possibly defeated expression made me even happier. Zhou Chu and I lived in the same neighborhood; during these days after our breakup, I had been looking for a new place. To my surprise, I ran into him as soon as I went downstairs. He deliberately flaunted his affection with his new girlfriend right in front of me; their lips seemed glued together. It made me feel nauseous; I really wanted to slap him.
These two were truly an eyesore. He even walked right up to me and after kissing her, looked at me provocatively: "Zhou Wanwan, I told you that after breaking up with me, you wouldn't be able to find someone else; no one would like your temper." I couldn't be bothered to respond to him; he kept rambling on while I still didn't know how to turn the tables. Just then, I saw Zhou Ran. He walked straight towards me and clearly heard what Zhou Chu had just said.
Zhou Chu noticed him too but hadn't had the chance to greet him when Zhou Ran directly pulled me into his arms. My heart raced. But following his movement, I wrapped my arms around his waist. "Baby, I was wondering why you took so long to come down; I thought something happened to you." I smiled and replied, "It's nothing; just ran into some trouble."
He affectionately patted my head.
Wow, he really acted quite well.
"Isn't this just running into a dog that can bark? I couldn't help but stop and take a look."
I deliberately teased them.
He turned his head with a grin, pretending to just notice Zhou Chu: "Oh, Sheng Tian, how is it you?"
"Wanwan, how can you speak like that? How can you call him a dog?"
He patted me again, but his tone clearly showed he didn't take Zhou Chu seriously at all.
Well, that really made me feel good.
I listened to his heartbeat in his arms, my own heart couldn't help but race.
Zhou Chu looked at the two of us in shock, pointing at us and cursing: "What the hell! You two! When did you get together? Zhou Wanwan, didn't I just break up with you?"
I directed my gaze at him while he fabricated a story convincingly.
"What’s wrong? Just because she broke up with you doesn’t mean she has to be single forever. Why is it okay for you to find a new girlfriend after breaking up, but Wanwan can’t find a new boyfriend?"
"Besides, it’s not like there’s a rule saying an ex-girlfriend can’t date," Zhou Ran shrugged, looking indifferent.
Sure enough, he was fine when he didn’t speak, but when he did, he was really sharp-tongued.
Zhou Chu was practically fuming.
I felt happy seeing him at a loss.
"Honey, kiss." I took the opportunity to wrap my arms around Zhou Ran's waist and kissed his forehead.
Zhou Ran cooperated well, gently kissing my forehead in return.
I was completely smitten.
Zhou Chu could no longer bear to watch and stammered for a long time without being able to say a complete sentence.
His girlfriend stomped her foot and directly pulled him away.
It wasn't until after they left that I finally got off him, feeling embarrassed.
Only then did I realize what I had just done and quickly apologized to him.
"Zhou Ran, I'm sorry; he was really infuriating, so I had to use you a little bit. Thank you for not exposing me."
I blushed and dared not look at him.
He adjusted my position, forcing me to meet his gaze.
Raising an eyebrow at me, he said, "I didn’t expect you to act so convincingly; those few lines made my heart soften."
My face immediately turned redder. "Stop joking with me. By the way, did you come looking for me for something?"
He didn’t seem like he just happened to be here; rather, it felt like he came specifically to find me.
I was startled by my bold idea. To my surprise, he admitted it. "Yes, I came to find you, Wanwan. You left something in my car last time." I was a bit puzzled as I followed him out of the parking lot. All the way, I couldn't remember what I had left in his car.
He asked me to open the trunk. When I opened it, I was taken aback to find it filled with flowers. I admit my heart skipped a beat. He looked at me intently and said, "Zhou Wanwan, I like you. I came right away after I heard he broke up with you."
"I've had a hard time forgetting those past events, and I don't know if you have forgotten them too." Listening to his confession, I suddenly felt a flutter in my heart. Before he could continue, I interrupted him, "Okay, I agree. I'm willing."
He looked shocked as I kissed him. Since I liked someone, why hesitate? The car was almost wrecked by the two of us. But I must say, Zhou Ran is much better than Zhou Chu.
I felt a bit lucky all of a sudden. We shamelessly lived together. Before long, he shared gossip about Zhou Chu with me. Zhou Chu had fallen this time; he was quite invested in his new girlfriend, but unexpectedly, she cheated on him.
I never thought he would end up like this; I laughed and fell onto Zhou Ran's shoulder. He affectionately patted my head. As for him, I didn't know much, but thankfully, I had found my true love. I kissed his lips and sighed at how peaceful life was.
