Jin Ming has left, and Sister is staying here to wait for him.
I asked Sister, "When will he be back?"
Sister shook her head, "I don't know."
I looked at Sister and asked, "Sister, could he be lying to you?"
Sister shook her head again, "He wouldn't."
"Why?"
"He's an officer."
Sister's gaze was filled with admiration.
She said, "He is a real man."
I replied, "Officers are human too; they can deceive women’s feelings."
Sister smiled lightly, "He wouldn't."
I sighed.
I said, "Sister, you two are not suited for each other."
"Why?"
"You are a country girl, and he is a city officer; you don't match."
Sister replied calmly, "I like him, and that's enough."
I spoke earnestly, "Sister, you can't agree to marry him just out of gratitude."
"You need to think it through."
"It should be for love, not out of obligation."
Sister smiled again, "I understand."
I helplessly said, "Sister..."
Sister gently stroked my hair.
She said, "Zhao Di, don't worry about me."
"I know what I'm doing."
"I'm waiting for him because I am grateful to him."
"He saved me; I must repay him."
I whispered, "Sister, you can repay him with money or work as a maid for him, but..."
I looked at her, "But you can't be his mistress."
"I know."
"Then why are you doing this?"
"I don't want him to feel like our relationship is just a transaction."
I whispered, "Sister, if you continue like this, you'll regret it sooner or later."
"I know."
"Then why are you still doing it?"
"I want to be with him for a long time."
I sighed.
Sister looked at me, "Zhao Di, you don't understand."
"I do," I replied, looking at her. "You are my Sister; how could I not understand?"
"No, you don't understand."
Sister shook her head.
She gazed out the window and slowly said, "You don't understand. Once a woman falls in love, she can never take it back."
I quietly said, "Sister, you'll get hurt."
"I know."
"I know I will get hurt."
Sister smiled at me.
She said, "But I'm not afraid."
"Why?"
"Because he saved me."
Sister's gaze was deep and resolute.
She said, "He saved me, so I belong to him."
"No matter how he treats me, I accept it."
I looked at Sister, feeling a mix of emotions.
I embraced Sister tightly.
Tears streamed down my face.
I sobbed, "Sister, I don't want to leave you."
Sister gently stroked my back and said softly, "Zhao Di, you won't leave me."
"I will always be with you."
I closed my eyes, feeling Sister's warmth and scent.
I fell asleep.
I had a dream.
In my dream, Sister and I were holding hands, walking on a vast grassland.
We sang songs and ran joyfully.
The sky was a clear blue, and the clouds were white and soft.
Sister and I laughed happily, feeling blissful.
But suddenly, Sister disappeared.
I searched everywhere but couldn't find her.
I crouched down and began to cry.
I cried with deep sadness and despair.
I called out Sister's name, hoping she would appear.
But Sister never showed up.
My crying grew even more sorrowful.
When I woke up, it was already bright outside.
Sister was sitting by the bed, facing me.
She reached out her right hand and gently rubbed my back.
I looked at her and smiled.
I knew that with Sister around, there was nothing to worry about.
