Li Xiaolu stepped out of the shop, and a cool breeze swept over her, causing her to shiver involuntarily. She tugged at her collar and quickly walked toward the subway station.
Upon arriving at the subway station, she took the escalator down and entered the train car. The car was crowded, and as she squeezed into the throng, she felt people jostling against her. She kept trying to sidestep but was continually bumped by others.
This sensation was quite unpleasant. She furrowed her brow, and her expression grew increasingly grim. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she closed her eyes and silently chanted to herself, "Calmness brings coolness, calmness brings coolness..." She repeated this mantra, reminding herself not to get angry, not to get angry; these people were strangers, they didn't matter, they didn't matter...
Eventually, she calmed down. When she opened her eyes, she noticed someone was looking at her. It was a girl who gazed at Li Xiaolu with a look of surprise.
Li Xiaolu looked at her in confusion and asked, "What's wrong?" The girl shook her head and replied, "It's nothing." Then she shifted her gaze away.
Li Xiaolu found it puzzling but didn’t dwell on it further; she continued to look down at her toes. After a few more stops, the girl got off the train. Two stops later, Li Xiaolu also exited.
She walked up to the surface and took a deep breath. The air was fresh, and she immediately felt much better. With a light step, she headed toward her apartment.
Once back in her apartment, she changed into slippers and took off her ring, placing it on the table.
She looked at the ring and let out a soft sigh.
She didn't understand what was wrong with her.
Why did her emotions spiral out of control whenever she was near Jijun?
She had never considered herself an emotional person, but in front of Jijun, she always found it hard to keep her feelings in check.
This troubled her greatly.
Sitting in a chair, she supported her forehead with her hands, lost in thought.
Li Xiaolu hadn't expected to see Jijun again so soon.
That day, after class, she went to a Chrome Hearts store to buy a necklace as a gift for a friend.
As soon as she walked into the store, she saw Jijun standing at the counter, seemingly selecting something.
She paused for a moment, thinking how coincidental it was!
Jijun noticed her too and seemed equally surprised: "What a coincidence, we meet again."
Li Xiaolu nodded and replied, "Yeah, it really is a coincidence."
Next to Jijun stood a woman who looked about twenty-five or twenty-six, wearing a red dress and looking very beautiful.
Seeing Jijun and Li Xiaolu greeting each other, the woman asked, "Do you two know each other?"
Jijun nodded and then gestured towards Li Xiaolu: "Let me introduce you; this is Miss Li Xiaolu."
He turned to Li Xiaolu and said, "This is my..."
He paused for a moment, seemingly hesitating about how to phrase it.
But the woman couldn't hold back any longer; she shot Jijun a glance and said, "Hello, I'm his... friend; you can call me Xiao Ling."
"Oh, hello," Li Xiaolu smiled at her.
Xiao Ling stared at Li Xiaolu and suddenly asked, "Are you Chinese too?"
"Yes," Li Xiaolu nodded.
Xiao Ling glanced at Jijun again and then asked, "So how did you two meet?"
"Li Xiaolu," she began, "we met by chance."
Jijun interrupted her, saying lightly, "We ran into each other."
Li Xiaolu glanced at him and then looked away.
Jijun turned to Xiao Ling and said, "Alright, take your time choosing. I'm leaving now."
Xiao Ling hurriedly replied, "Hey, don't go!"
Ignoring her, Jijun continued to walk out.
Seeing this, Xiao Ling quickly followed him, saying as she walked, "Jijun, stop right there!"
Jijun halted and turned to look at her. "What do you want?"
Xiao Ling approached him and looked up at him. "You need to explain yourself. What do you mean?"
Jijun scoffed, "You dare ask me what I mean?"
Xiao Ling stared at him fearlessly. "Why wouldn't I? You're my uncle!"
Li Xiaolu finally understood; Jijun was her uncle. She felt a bit embarrassed. She hadn't expected to misjudge Jijun. She thought he was the kind of playboy. She scolded herself internally and quickly left the shop.
Just as she stepped outside, she heard Jijun calling her from behind. "Li Xiaolu."
She stopped and turned to look at him. "Huh?"
Jijun approached her and asked, "Are you angry?"
"Huh?" Li Xiaolu shook her head. "No."
Jijun looked at her intently. "Then why are you leaving?"
Li Xiaolu smiled slightly. "I need to go back to school."
Jijun nodded in response. "Alright then."
Li Xiaolu waved at him and said, "Goodbye."
Jijun nodded and replied, "Goodbye."
