Li Xiaolu didn't expect Jijun to invite her to such a high-end French cuisine restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent, with soft lighting and soothing music, complemented by attentive service from the waitstaff. 0

The two ordered a bottle of sparkling water and skipped the wine. As Li Xiaolu looked at the expensive dishes on the menu, she felt a pang of regret; this was not a place she would usually spend money on. Jijun, however, skillfully ordered several signature dishes and even thoughtfully asked if Li Xiaolu had any dietary restrictions. 0

Li Xiaolu shook her head. The dishes arrived one after another, and they chatted while eating, enjoying the meal. Yet, Li Xiaolu felt somewhat uneasy; she had eaten a large amount of garlic earlier, and the lingering taste made her worry that she might offend Jijun if she spoke. 0

Jijun seemed to notice her discomfort but didn’t mention it. Instead, he took the initiative to keep the conversation going, preventing any awkward silence. Li Xiaolu secretly sighed in relief that Jijun didn’t ask her why she was quiet. 0

As they continued eating, their distance closed significantly. Jijun even offered her food with a gentlemanly demeanor. Li Xiaolu felt that this was somewhat inappropriate, yet deep down, she enjoyed being taken care of. 0

Finally, after finishing dinner, Jijun didn’t reach for the bill but smiled at Li Xiaolu and said, “I already paid with my card.” 0

Li Xiaolu paused for a moment before responding, “Then I’ll transfer you the money.” 0

Jijun raised an eyebrow and replied, “Do we need to be so formal with each other?” 0

Li Xiaolu felt a bit embarrassed and said, “But…” 0

“Next time, you can treat me,” Jijun stood up and said, “Let’s go; I’ll take you home.” 0

“Okay,” Li Xiaolu nodded as they walked out of the restaurant together. 0

The night breeze was gentle, and the bright moonlight illuminated the street, creating glimmers of silver light. They stood by the roadside waiting for a taxi in silence. 0

Li Xiaolu stole a glance at Jijun; he was wearing a black trench coat over a white shirt, looking neat and elegant. Her heart suddenly raced, and her face felt hot. She hurriedly lowered her gaze, afraid he would notice. 0

Fortunately, a taxi arrived quickly. 0

The two got into the car, and Jijun mentioned Li Xiaolu's apartment name. 0

Li Xiaolu was somewhat surprised, "How do you know where I live?" 0

Jijun smiled, "Because I live not far from you." 0

"Really?" Li Xiaolu didn't expect them to live so close; could it really be fate? 0

She felt a surge of joy in her heart, but thinking about what happened today made her feel down again. 0

Jijun looked at her, "What's wrong?" 0

Li Xiaolu shook her head, "It's nothing." 0

She turned to look out the window as the shadows of the streetlights rushed by, leaving behind a fleeting trace. 0

Jijun watched her, his brow slightly furrowed, but he didn't say anything more. 0

The space in the car was small, yet Li Xiaolu deliberately kept her distance from Jijun, almost pressing half of her body against the door. 0

She didn't know what was wrong with her; she just felt a bit awkward. 0

Jijun looked at her and suddenly asked, "Are you afraid of me?" 0

Li Xiaolu was taken aback for a moment and then shook her head, "No." 0

"Then why are you sitting so far away from me?" Jijun raised an eyebrow. 0

Li Xiaolu forced a laugh, "I’m not..." 0

Jijun suddenly leaned closer to her, and Li Xiaolu was startled, hurriedly trying to back away, but behind her was the car door; she had nowhere to escape. 0

Jijun stared into her eyes, "Or do you dislike me?" 0

His gaze was intense, as if he were searching for an answer in her pupils. 0

Li Xiaolu's heart raced suddenly; she licked her lips and managed to calm herself down, "Of course I don't dislike you." 0

Jijun looked at her and suddenly smiled, "That's good." 0

He returned to his seat, and Li Xiaolu let out a sigh of relief, but inside she felt a faint sense of loss. 0

She turned to look out the window again; the light from the streetlamp illuminated her face, revealing the disappointment deep in her eyes. 0

She really wanted to tell Jijun that tomorrow was her birthday, but Jijun didn't ask at all. Maybe he just didn't care. Thinking of this, Li Xiaolu forced a smile. 0

Suddenly, the car jolted violently, and Li Xiaolu was caught off guard, leaning sideways. Jijun reacted quickly and caught her. 0

Li Xiaolu fell into his embrace, inhaling the faint scent on him, and her heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly straightened up, creating some distance between them. 0

Jijun looked at her with deep eyes. Li Xiaolu felt uncomfortable under his gaze and turned to look out the window, suddenly realizing that the scenery outside seemed familiar. 0

"This is..." she exclaimed in surprise as she looked at Jijun. 0

Jijun smiled lightly, "We're almost there." 0

Sure enough, a few minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of Li Xiaolu's apartment. She got out of the car and waved to Jijun, "I'm going in first. Be careful on your way." 0

Jijun nodded and watched her walk into the apartment lobby before turning to leave. 0
