Looking at Rao Jie's flushed ears, Wu Rong felt the last bit of frustration in his heart dissipate completely.
"Come over and eat."
...
"Are you really making her study advanced mathematics from six in the morning until now?" Ye Ming asked incredulously.
Rao Jie, feeling wronged, took her last bite of food.
Wu Rong nodded as if it were obvious, saying, "We need to make up for lost time!"
Ye Ming nearly spat out his soup; given his understanding of Wu Rong's cunning nature, he was sure this was intentional.
Not to mention Rao Jie, even Ye Ming himself would be sick if he had to face math all day long—how many could be like Wu Rong, a math prodigy?
Clearing his throat, Ye Ming said, "Maybe don't push too hard all at once; otherwise, she might develop a dislike for it, and then it really won't stick."
Wu Rong casually hummed in response. "Do you have anything else to do? If not, finish up and take your trash with you."
Ye Ming: ... Am I in the way? Am I interrupting their little world?
But looking at the gaze Rao Jie shot him, it seemed she wanted him to stay a bit longer so she could catch her breath!
Ye Ming cleared his throat again and said, "Of course I have something important. I've heard that the selection process is nearing its end. Your report is outstanding; hardly anyone can compare to you. The biggest award is practically yours."
"Oh," Wu Rong replied indifferently.
Ye Ming swallowed hard and said, "I know you don’t care much about this, but since you're starting fresh here, this is your first battle. Do you know how many mathematicians in this country have failed miserably at this? You could walk in and win effortlessly; do you know how many people envy you for that? This is a great honor! If I hadn’t known you would refuse, I would have already arranged follow-up interviews for you. This is the best way to enhance our school's reputation."
Upon hearing this, Wu Rong immediately said with disgust, "Get lost!"
Ye Ming shrugged helplessly; he knew this would happen.
Rao Jie, who had been listening with half an ear, couldn't help but ask curiously, "Is it really that impressive? Can there be coverage?"
Seizing the opportunity to promote his friend, Ye Ming exclaimed, "You have no idea what kind of genius is mentoring you! According to the historical records of this award, Professor Wu has broken records as the youngest recipient. Some mathematicians spend their entire lives without ever receiving this award. Even among the mathematicians who have come from our school—including Wu Rong—there are only three."
Rao Jie widened her eyes in surprise and exclaimed, "So he's a Genius Among Geniuses!"
Ye Ming smiled proudly as if he were boasting about himself. "Of course!"
Rao Jie quickly turned to look at Wu Rong as if he were now enveloped in a halo of light, making Wu Rong feel quite uncomfortable.
Wu Rong clicked his tongue and looked at Ye Ming impatiently. "Is that all you wanted to say? Once you're done with that, you can leave."
Ye Ming chuckled as he was dragged out the door by Wu Rong.
Just before getting into the car, Ye Ming couldn't help but tease, "Why are you always in such a hurry to get rid of me? You weren't like this before! You've changed; now all you see is your child bride, your little darling, right? With warm soft jade in your arms, you don't need a tough guy like me anymore?"
Wu Rong looked at him as if he had swallowed a fly. "Don't make jokes like that about girls!"
Ye Ming smiled and said, "Sorry, sorry, I just wanted to remind you."
Wu Rong looked at Ye Ming in confusion.
