Listening to his voice, Li Xiaolu felt a pang of heartache.
She quickly replied, "Have you taken your medicine yet?"
Jijun responded, "Not yet, I’ll take it later."
Li Xiaolu looked at the message he sent and felt a bit helpless. She thought for a moment and replied, "Then remember to take your medicine, drink more water, and rest early."
Jijun replied, "Yeah, thanks for your concern."
As Li Xiaolu read his message, she felt a sense of disappointment. She had originally thought that after what happened last night, their relationship could move a step closer. But now it seemed that Jijun had no such intention. Perhaps he really only saw her as an ordinary friend.
Li Xiaolu pondered this with a heavy heart. She stared at her phone, feeling somewhat upset but unsure of what to do. Maybe she should just give up. The thought caused her pain.
She lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Staring at the ceiling, she felt lost. Was she really going to give up? But she truly didn’t want to.
Feeling sad, tears began to fall without her realizing it. She buried her face in the bed and cried for a while before finally drifting off to sleep.
When she woke up the next day, it was already past nine in the morning.
Li Xiaolu looked out the window; the sun was shining brightly—it was a beautiful day. She glanced at her reflection in the mirror: her eyes were red and swollen, and her complexion was dull.
She sighed and walked out of the bathroom.
Looking at the computer on the table, she felt a bit restless. Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she opened the computer to check the news. As she scrolled through the articles, something stirred within her.
She hesitated while staring at the computer screen. After thinking for a moment, she couldn’t resist pulling out her phone. Taking a deep breath, she dialed Jijun's number.
The phone rang several times before it was answered.
"Hello." A deep voice came through the receiver.
Listening to his low voice, Li Xiaolu felt a wave of nervousness. She held the phone and said softly, "It's me."
Jijun replied with a smile, "I know."
He paused for a moment and then asked, "Why did you call me?"
Li Xiaolu bit her lip and said quietly, "I wanted to come see you."
There was silence on the other end for a while before Jijun's voice came through again, "What do you want to see me for?"
Li Xiaolu responded, "I noticed you have a cold, and I wanted to check on you."
Jijun laughed lightly, "I'm fine; I'll be better in a couple of days."
Li Xiaolu insisted, "You should still see a doctor. What if it gets worse?"
Jijun reassured her, "Really, I'm okay."
Listening to his words made her anxious. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Then I'll go buy you some medicine."
Jijun hesitated for a moment and replied, "That would be great; thank you."
Li Xiaolu smiled and said, "It's no trouble at all."
Jijun added, "After you buy the medicine, call me so I can come down to get it."
Li Xiaolu quickly offered, "I'll bring it up to you; I have time anyway."
Jijun hesitated again and said, "Alright then, I'll send you my address."
Li Xiaolu nodded and replied, "Okay."
She hung up the phone feeling a surge of joy. She could finally go see him. Excitement bubbled within her as she thought about it.
She hurriedly freshened up and changed into another outfit before preparing to head out. Just as she was about to leave, something suddenly crossed her mind.
She took out her phone, looked at the address displayed on the screen, then went downstairs and took a taxi to Jijun's home.
Half an hour later, Li Xiaolu arrived at the entrance of Jijun's house. She gazed at the villa before her with a sense of awe.
This villa was located in the city center, covering a large area and looking extremely luxurious. Li Xiaolu felt a pang of envy as she admired it.
After contemplating for a moment, she walked to the entrance and entered the password.
With a chime, the front door opened.
Li Xiaolu took a deep breath and pushed the door open to step inside.
The villa was very quiet. Li Xiaolu walked into the living room and looked around. The living room was spacious and elegantly decorated, with several oil paintings hanging on the walls that exuded tastefulness. Li Xiaolu gazed at her surroundings, feeling a wave of admiration.
She walked over to the sofa and sat down. Curiosity filled her as she surveyed the area. Her eyes landed on the coffee table, which held some fruits and snacks, along with a glass of milk. She looked at the milk, surprised. It seemed like she had never tasted this kind of milk before.
Pondering this, she felt a bit puzzled. She picked up the glass and took a sip. The milk was sweet, with a hint of vanilla flavor; it was delicious. Li Xiaolu stared at the milk in astonishment. She hadn't expected Jijun to drink this kind of milk.
Her curiosity deepened as she continued to look around, wondering where Jijun was. After a moment of thought, she stood up and walked toward the staircase. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, she glanced up at the second floor. It was quiet upstairs, with no sounds at all.
Li Xiaolu hesitated as she looked up, unsure whether to go up or not. After contemplating for a moment, she finally mustered her courage and ascended the stairs. Upon reaching the second floor, she looked at the surrounding rooms, feeling a bit nervous.
She approached one of the doors, paused for a moment, and then pushed it open.
