The next day, she woke up and it was already nine in the morning. She quickly got up, washed up, and went to the kitchen to make breakfast. She prepared sandwiches and fried eggs, heated two cups of milk, and brought them to the dining table to eat.
Just as she took a bite of her sandwich, she suddenly remembered something. Jijun seemed to have a follow-up appointment at the hospital today. Li Xiaolu immediately took out her phone and sent a message to Jijun: "When are you going to the hospital?"
Soon, Jijun replied: "At ten." Li Xiaolu checked the time; there was still time. She sent another message: "I'll go with you."
Jijun responded: "No need, I can go by myself." Li Xiaolu replied: "But I want to accompany you." This time, Jijun did not reply immediately. Li Xiaolu waited for a while but didn't receive a response, so she had to put down her phone and continue eating breakfast.
After finishing her meal, Li Xiaolu tidied up the kitchen and looked at the time; it was already half past nine. She changed her clothes, grabbed her car keys, and headed out.
She drove to the hospital and parked in front of the emergency room before getting out and walking inside. She arrived at Jijun's hospital room and knocked before entering.
Jijun was sitting against the headboard, holding a laptop and seemingly looking at some information. He wore gold-rimmed glasses, and his bangs slightly fell forward, covering his eyebrows, giving him a refined and handsome appearance.
Li Xiaolu's heart skipped a beat. She walked over and softly called out, "Jijun."
Jijun looked up, saw her, and nodded slightly. "You're here."
Li Xiaolu nodded back and walked to the side of the bed. "How are you feeling now?"
Jijun closed his laptop and set it aside, saying, "That's good."
Li Xiaolu looked at him and said, "I'll accompany you for the follow-up check."
Jijun glanced at her, paused for a moment in silence, then nodded, "Okay."
The two of them left the hospital room together and arrived at the doctor's office.
The doctor examined Jijun and gave him some advice before telling him to go home and rest.
Jijun and Li Xiaolu left the hospital together and got back into the car.
Jijun did not start the car immediately; he turned his head to look at Li Xiaolu.
Li Xiaolu met his gaze and asked, "What's wrong?"
Jijun reached out and touched her hair, saying, "Thank you."
Li Xiaolu smiled and shook her head, "No need to thank me."
Jijun continued to look at her with deep eyes.
Li Xiaolu felt a bit shy under his gaze and lowered her head, saying, "Don't look at me like that."
Jijun chuckled, withdrew his hand, and started the car.
Li Xiaolu secretly stole glances at him, feeling sweet inside.
She thought to herself that she had truly fallen in love with Jijun.
...
In the following days, whenever Li Xiaolu had free time, she would go to Jijun's house to keep him company.
They watched movies together, listened to music together, cooked together...
Such days made Li Xiaolu feel very happy and fulfilled.
One day, after returning from Jijun's house, she received a message from Zhao Shu.
Zhao Shu: [Lulu, my parents are going back to the country.]
Li Xiaolu frowned slightly and replied: [Why are they suddenly going back?]
Zhao Shu: [My dad said he’s not feeling well and wants to go home to recuperate.]
Li Xiaolu: "Oh, when will they be back?"
Zhao Shu: "They'll arrive in Qingdao tomorrow night."
Li Xiaolu: "Then I'll go to the airport to pick them up tomorrow night."
Zhao Shu: "No need, you focus on your own things. I'll have a friend pick them up."
Li Xiaolu: "It's fine, I don't have anything else to do anyway."
Zhao Shu: "Alright then, just come directly to my house tomorrow night."
Li Xiaolu: "Okay."
After finishing her chat with Zhao Shu, Li Xiaolu sent a message to Jijun, telling him that she couldn't join him for dinner tomorrow night.
Jijun quickly replied: "Hmm."
Li Xiaolu looked at the message and frowned slightly.
She felt that Jijun's mood seemed off.
She wanted to ask him what was wrong but was afraid she might be overthinking it.
Shaking her head, she pushed the thoughts out of her mind and decided not to dwell on them.
The next evening, Li Xiaolu went to the airport to pick up Zhao Yi and Yu Min, then took them back to the the Zhao Family.
Zhao Shu was already waiting at home and immediately greeted Li Xiaolu when they arrived.
"Dad, Mom, you're back!" Zhao Shu said with a smile.
Yu Min nodded, "Yes, we're back."
Zhao Yi smiled and said to Li Xiaolu, "Lulu, thank you for your hard work."
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "It wasn't hard."
She followed Zhao Yi and Yu Min into the house and placed the luggage in the living room.
Yu Min sat on the sofa, rubbing her forehead, "I'm exhausted."
Zhao Shu immediately sat next to her and began to massage her shoulders, saying, "Mom, you should rest for a bit. I'll make dinner."
