After an unknown amount of time, Li Xiaolu slowly opened her eyes. She realized that she had actually fallen asleep. She quickly sat up and looked at Jijun.
Jijun was watching her. "Awake?" he asked.
Li Xiaolu felt her cheeks flush slightly. "Did I fall asleep?"
Jijun nodded. "Yeah."
Li Xiaolu felt a bit embarrassed. "I... I didn't mean to. I guess I was just too tired."
Jijun smiled. "It's okay; I like it when you sleep against me."
Li Xiaolu's cheeks turned even redder. She bit her lip and asked, "So, do you have class tomorrow morning?"
Jijun looked at her curiously. "Why?"
Li Xiaolu whispered, "If you have class, you should go back."
Jijun raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to send me away?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head. "I didn't mean that; I just..."
Jijun leaned closer to her ear and said, "I just don't want to leave you."
Li Xiaolu's heart raced, and she felt her breathing quicken.
Jijun looked at her and asked, "Lulu, can I stay tonight?"
Li Xiaolu's cheeks were as red as an apple, and she nodded shyly. "Mm-hmm."
Jijun kissed the corner of her lips gently. "Get some good rest."
After saying that, he took the car keys and left.
Li Xiaolu watched his figure disappear, feeling sweet inside. She touched her lips, where it seemed there was still a trace of Jijun's presence.
In the following days, Jijun came to the apartment every day to accompany Li Xiaolu. He would take her to the hospital for dressing changes. The doctor said that Li Xiaolu's wound was healing well and that she could have her cast removed in a few days. Li Xiaolu was very happy. She felt lucky; even though she had been in an accident, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as she got to see Jijun every day.
After finishing her dressing change at the hospital, Li Xiaolu said to Jijun, "I feel like I'm almost better now. I can actually go out without a wheelchair." Jijun frowned, "No way." Li Xiaolu looked at him, "But I really am feeling better." Jijun replied, "I know you're feeling better, but I don't want you to take any risks." Hearing this, Li Xiaolu could only nod, "Alright then." Jijun smiled, "Good girl." Li Xiaolu's cheeks flushed slightly, "Let's go back."
Jijun nodded, "Okay." He pushed Li Xiaolu back to the apartment and then went upstairs with her. Once they returned to the apartment, Li Xiaolu began packing her luggage. Jijun watched her and asked, "What are you doing?" Li Xiaolu replied, "I'm packing my luggage. When are we leaving?" Jijun nodded slightly, "We're leaving tomorrow morning." Li Xiaolu's eyes lit up, "Really?" Jijun confirmed with a nod, "Yes." Li Xiaolu was excited, "Where should I go to watch the meteor shower?" Jijun looked at her, "Where do you want to go?"
Li Xiaolu thought for a moment and said, "How about we go to the top of the mountain to take a look?"
Jijun nodded, "Sure."
Li Xiaolu was very happy, "Then let's hurry and get some sleep to recharge for tomorrow."
Jijun smiled, "Okay."
The two of them returned to their rooms to sleep.
Li Xiaolu lay on her bed but couldn't fall asleep no matter what. The thought of going to see the meteor shower with Jijun tomorrow made her too excited to rest. She tossed and turned, her mind filled with thoughts of Jijun. Her heart raced as if it were about to leap out of her chest. This feeling was something she had never experienced before. It felt as if she had fallen under some kind of spell. She wanted to break free but found herself unable to stop.
The next morning at seven o'clock, Li Xiaolu and Jijun got up, and after washing up, they took a car to Montauk Lighthouse.
