The next morning, Li Xiaolu got up, planning to start her job at the company.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw someone standing at the entrance. It was Jijun. He looked haggard, with bloodshot eyes. Li Xiaolu felt a pang in her heart. She couldn't help but wonder if he hadn't slept at all last night. Was he thinking about how to deceive her again?
Li Xiaolu tried to maintain her composure as she looked at him. "What are you doing here?"
Jijun looked at her and said, "Lulu, can we talk?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head. "There's nothing to talk about."
Jijun frowned. "Lulu, don't say that."
Li Xiaolu replied, "There’s really nothing for us to discuss."
Jijun gazed at her. "You've misunderstood me."
Li Xiaolu couldn't help but laugh. "Misunderstood? Jijun, do you still want to deceive me?"
Jijun's brow furrowed tightly. "Lulu..."
Li Xiaolu interrupted him, "Just go. I don’t want to see you again."
Jijun looked at her. "Why are you doing this?"
Li Xiaolu said, "I feel like there's nothing left to say between us."
After a moment of silence, Jijun asked, "Is it because of my stepmother?"
Li Xiaolu's heart trembled. She looked at him and asked, "What do you know?"
Jijun replied, "Lulu, you can't believe what my stepmother says."
Li Xiaolu couldn't help but laugh, "Why shouldn't I believe it?"
Jijun said, "She's trying to stir up trouble between us."
Li Xiaolu replied, "What about Zhao Shu? Is she doing the same?"
Jijun was taken aback.
Li Xiaolu continued, "Zhao Shu told me that you two used to date. So tell me, should I believe her or you?"
Jijun looked at her, "You already know?"
Li Xiaolu chuckled, "I didn't expect that you actually dated my sister."
Jijun furrowed his brow, "Lulu, let me explain."
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "I don't want to hear it."
Jijun gazed at her, "You have to trust me; it's not what you think between us."
Li Xiaolu interrupted him, "Don't say anything more; I don't want to hear it."
Jijun fell silent.
Li Xiaolu said, "Just go. I want to be alone for a while."
Jijun looked at her, "Are you really going to break up with me?"
Li Xiaolu felt a sharp pain in her heart. She closed her eyes and tried to maintain her composure. "Yes."
Jijun stared at her, "What if I don't agree?"
Li Xiaolu smiled slightly, "Jijun, this isn't about your agreement; it's about my decision to end this."
Jijun was stunned.
Li Xiaolu said, "Just go. I don't want to see you anymore."
Jijun looked at her, "Lulu, you can't do this to me."
Li Xiaolu smiled again, "Jijun, remember, you were the one who abandoned me first."
Jijun was left speechless.
Li Xiaolu said, "You gave up on me first, so you can't blame me."
Jijun looked at her and replied, "I never thought about giving you up."
Li Xiaolu interrupted him, "But you did give up."
Jijun opened his mouth but couldn't say anything.
Li Xiaolu said, "Just go."
Jijun looked at her and stated, "I don't agree to break up."
Li Xiaolu laughed, "Whether you agree or not means nothing to me."
Jijun fell silent.
Li Xiaolu said, "Jijun, it's over between us."
Jijun looked at her and asked, "What if I don't want it to be over?"
Li Xiaolu smiled faintly, "Then wait until I'm dead to say that."
Jijun's face turned pale.
Li Xiaolu said, "I've given up. Our relationship is over."
Jijun looked at her and pleaded, "Why can't you trust me just once?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "I don't trust you."
Jijun remained silent.
Li Xiaolu said, "Just go. I want to be alone for a while."
Jijun looked at her with a complicated expression.
After a long silence, he finally said, "Alright."
With that, he turned and left.
