The days in Hong Kong passed quite quickly. Li Xiaolu gradually got used to life in Hong Kong. Her boss, Emily, was a local and treated her well. One day, Emily gave her a new task.
"This company called SS.AI is preparing for an IPO. Please help me look into it," Emily said.
Li Xiaolu nodded, "Sure."
Emily smiled, "Today is your birthday, right?"
Li Xiaolu was taken aback, "How did you know?"
Emily chuckled, "It's on your resume."
Li Xiaolu smiled back, "You have a good memory."
Emily said, "Happy birthday."
Li Xiaolu replied with a smile, "Thank you."
Emily continued, "Take the day off to celebrate."
Li Xiaolu responded gratefully, "Thank you, Emily."
Emily waved her hand dismissively, "Go ahead."
After leaving the office, Li Xiaolu opened her computer and began researching information about SS.AI. The next day, she went to SS.AI for an on-site visit. SS.AI was located on the 32nd floor of the International Financial Centre at 86 Queensway on Hong Kong Island.
Upon arrival, Li Xiaolu went directly to the reception and asked, "Hello, I am an analyst from XX Financial Company. I have an appointment today with Allen from your public relations department."
The receptionist made a phone call and then said to her, "Please wait a moment."
After a while, a young man in a black suit approached her.
"Hello, I am Allen."
Li Xiaolu stood up and shook his hand, saying, "Hello, I am Li Xiaolu."
Allen smiled and replied, "It's a pleasure to serve you."
Li Xiaolu smiled back, "Thank you."
Allen led her into the conference room.
He poured her a glass of water and asked, "What would you like to know?"
Li Xiaolu responded, "Could you introduce your company to me?"
Allen nodded, "Of course."
He opened the PowerPoint presentation and began explaining.
"Our company was established in 2016 and focuses on autonomous driving technology. Our goal is to develop an autonomous driving system that can replace human drivers..."
Li Xiaolu listened to his explanation, occasionally taking notes.
The two talked for over three hours, wrapping up around noon.
Allen closed his laptop and smiled, saying, "Thank you for your visit."
Li Xiaolu replied with a smile, "I should be the one thanking you."
Allen chuckled, "Then I'll head back now; take care."
Li Xiaolu nodded.
After Allen left, Li Xiaolu packed her things and also prepared to leave.
She stepped out of the International Financial Centre and stood by the roadside waiting for a taxi.
It was raining today, and the wind was strong.
Li Xiaolu tightened her coat around herself as she stood by the road.
She waited for a long time but didn't see a single taxi.
Just as she was about to take out her phone to call for a ride, an umbrella suddenly appeared above her head.
She was taken aback and turned to look.
In the next moment, she was stunned.
It was Jijun.
He held a black umbrella and looked at her.
Li Xiaolu was stunned.
She stared at him, "You... how did you end up here?"
Li Xiaolu gazed at him in a daze.
Jijun replied calmly, "I'm taking you home."
Li Xiaolu snapped back to reality, "No need, I..."
Jijun said, "I was passing by Harbor City."
Li Xiaolu was taken aback.
Passing by Harbor City brings him here?
What a coincidence!
She looked at him, "Did you come here for something?"
Jijun nodded, "Yes."
Li Xiaolu said, "What a coincidence."
Jijun looked at her, "Let's go."
Li Xiaolu hesitated for a moment but decided to follow him.
After all, it was just on the way; there was no need to refuse.
Jijun led her to the parking lot.
Li Xiaolu followed him.
Suddenly, she realized that the black umbrella in Jijun's hand looked very familiar.
She felt like she had seen it somewhere before.
But she couldn't recall exactly where she had seen it.
Jijun suddenly spoke up, "This umbrella is yours."
