Zhang Qichao and Liang Xi both shook their heads. Among the group, except for me, Liang Xi was the least injured. He had just been punched and came back holding his head to find me, leaving Zhang Qichao alone to take a beating. However, this was not entirely his fault; if he hadn't returned to warn us, given those people's ruthlessness, the outcome could have been much worse. 0

Hu Xiaoyi was grimacing in pain, his eyes red and on the verge of tears. He looked so pitiful that it made my heart ache. Those bastards, why did they have to target Hu Baobao from our entire building? If the Senior Sisters found out that I took Hu Xiaoyi to a bar and he ended up getting stabbed in the arm, they would definitely tear me apart! 0

Fortunately, after we arrived at the hospital, the doctor examined him and took X-rays. Although the stab wound was deep, it hadn't damaged any tendons. After disinfecting and bandaging it, he advised that with some rest, Hu Xiaoyi would recover quickly. Hearing this made all of us breathe a sigh of relief. 0

When we got home, Grandpa was shocked to hear that we had gotten into a fight at a bar. He wasn't worried about causing trouble but rather about me getting hurt. Seeing that I wasn't injured but my classmates had some bruises, his expression darkened as he said to Gai, "Find out who did this! How dare they lay hands on my grandson? They must be tired of living!" 0

With that tone, who would believe he hadn't been involved with gangs? We exchanged glances and all believed what I had said earlier—that Grandpa had built his reputation through violence. 0

Zhang Qichao stepped forward and said, "Please don't be angry, it's normal to have fights in bars. Besides, even though we got beaten up, they didn't come out unscathed either. After two bottles of beer, they bled more than we did. I think we should just let it go." 0

Before Grandpa could respond, Liang Xi and Hu Xiaoyi chimed in, agreeing that it was better to let it slide. They were just here for a vacation and didn't want to stir up trouble; they just wanted to resolve this smoothly. Seeing them all say this and knowing I hadn't suffered any losses either, Grandpa finally huffed and indicated he wouldn't pursue the matter further. 0

As we headed upstairs to sleep, the eldest brother rubbed his scalp and grimaced in pain as he cursed, "I didn't notice in the hospital, but those bastards pulled out quite a bit of my hair; it hurts like hell." 0

I patted his shoulder and said, "Come on, it's just some hair. Tomorrow I'll take you to Jin Dongni; we're not going back to that low-end place." 0

Zhang Qichao covered his head and said irritably, "Forget it! After seeing those ladyboys and getting beaten up too, I'm not interested in bars anymore. I'm going to sleep!" 0

The next day, I went to wake them up for breakfast. Liang Xi was the first to rush out; the eldest brother followed second. However, Fourth Brother Hu Xiaoyi never opened his door. When we twisted the doorknob and entered his room, we heard him talking in his sleep—something about not wanting to be hit or seeing ladyboys anymore—which made us stifle our laughter. 0

I walked over and yanked off his blanket, saying, "What ladyboys? You're dreaming about them!" 0

However, when I pulled back the blanket, we were all stunned. Hu Xiaoyi's face was flushed red and covered in sweat; especially concerning was the bandage on his wound that was soaked with a yellowish liquid. I leaned closer to inspect it; there was an unpleasant smell—was that pus? Touching his face revealed it was alarmingly hot. I quickly instructed Liang Xi to pick him up while I rushed downstairs to call Gai for a ride to the hospital. 0

After arriving at the hospital, the doctor examined the situation and concluded that it was a wound infection that had caused a high fever. I was furious; I had just disinfected it yesterday, and now it was infected overnight. Are these doctors just sitting around doing nothing? 0

However, given Fourth Brother's condition, I could only choose to trust the doctor's expertise. In the ward, after the doctor removed the bandage from Fourth Brother's arm, he immediately gasped in surprise. I took a glance and was shocked as well. 0

Around the knife wound on Fourth Brother's arm, there was a patch of yellow, and the skin looked wrinkled as if it had been soaked in water for a long time. When I touched it lightly, a large amount of pus and blood oozed out. I could no longer contain my anger and shouted at the doctor, "What kind of damn hospital is this? It got infected like this overnight; you must be cheating!" 0

Although the doctor couldn't understand Chinese, he could tell that I was furious. Seeing my anger, he had no choice but to pull me aside and said, "Don't worry; everything will be fine." 0

How could I not be worried? It was originally just a few centimeters long stab wound, and now a large chunk of flesh was almost rotting away. What if the doctor said they needed to cut it off? How would I explain that to Fourth Brother? 0

The boss and Liang Xi also came over to persuade me. They were equally concerned about Fourth Brother's injury and urged me to stop shouting. After all, we were in a hospital; we couldn't disturb other patients because of our issues. 0

I sighed, feeling it was all my fault. If I had been more generous and treated them to a nicer place, this wouldn't have happened. 0

While the doctor treated Fourth Brother, we waited outside the ward. Liang Xi fiddled with his fingers; he was a truly honest person who didn't know what to do in such an unexpected situation. The boss held his head, looking like he wasn't in good spirits. 0

I thought he was worried, so I went over and patted his shoulder. When he looked up, I saw that he looked exhausted, as if he hadn't slept for several days and nights. I was startled and quickly asked him what was wrong. 0

The boss said that the area where his hair had been pulled out hurt badly, and he hadn't slept well all night because of it. He told me not to worry, saying that his head didn't hurt anymore and that after some rest later on, he should be fine. 0

I didn't think too much about it; all my attention was focused on Fourth Brother and Hu Xiaoyi. 0

Not long after, the doctor re-treated Fourth Brother, drained out the pus, and put on new bandages. However, due to the persistent high fever and severe dehydration, he was in a semi-shock state and had to stay in the hospital for a while longer. 0

We sat outside the ward waiting for Fourth Brother to wake up. During this time, the boss occasionally frowned and rubbed his stomach as if he wasn't feeling well. After two or three hours, when a Nurse came to check on him, she suddenly screamed in surprise. 0

I rushed into the hospital room and asked what was wrong. The nurse pointed at Fourth Brother's arm, covering her mouth and unable to say a word. I hurried over to take a look and was stunned. 0

Fourth Brother's entire arm had turned yellow and was swollen like a calf. The skin on the surface was all wrinkled, just like in the morning. How could this be possible? Just a few hours ago, it had been disinfected, and I had watched the doctor do it with my own eyes. Even if they were unprofessional, it shouldn't have gotten infected this quickly! 0

When the doctor arrived, he was also very surprised. They examined him carefully and then came to talk to me. I couldn't understand Thai, so I had to call Gai over. After Gai listened to what the doctor said, he hurried over to tell me, "The doctor said their disinfection was definitely not an issue; now his condition has exceeded the doctor's scope of work." 0

"Exceeded the scope of work? What does that mean?" I didn't understand. 0

Gai lowered his voice slightly and said, "They suspect that the patient may not be infected but has been subjected to black magic. They can't handle this kind of problem." 0

"Black magic!" I was startled and thought about it carefully; it was indeed possible. Normally, an infection wouldn't escalate this quickly, but if it were black magic, that would explain it! 0

However, I didn't understand black magic at all and could only ask my grandfather for help. When I asked Gai to drive and pick up my grandfather, Liang Xi came over to tell me that the boss wasn't feeling well and suggested he go home to rest first. I could see that Boss Zhang Qichao indeed looked exhausted and pale, occasionally holding his stomach. I wanted to ask a doctor to check on him, but he said he might not be used to the fruit wine he drank yesterday and hadn't eaten breakfast, so his stomach hurt. He would be fine after eating something and resting. 0

I asked Gai to take Zhang Qichao home and reminded him to get some food before bringing my grandfather back as soon as possible. 0

About forty minutes later, my grandfather arrived at the hospital, accompanied by a middle-aged man in white clothing and a younger one. My grandfather introduced them as Ajan Ben and his apprentice, who often help people with black magic issues. I quickly made space for Ajan Ben to come over and assess the situation. 0

In those forty minutes, Hu Xiaoyi's right arm had swollen dramatically. The skin was stretched so tight that it had cracked open, soaking half of the bedsheet with pus. Moreover, the symptoms were starting to spread towards his chest and neck. Ajan Ben approached and gently pressed on Hu Xiaoyi's arm, squeezing out some pus before using his finger to scrape it up and smell it at his nose. 0

Then he took a bottle from his apprentice. Inside was a pitch-black liquid. Ajan Ben poured a few drops of this liquid onto his fingertip and mixed it with the pus. I saw that the two liquids quickly merged together, turning dark red. 0
