Ajan Dong said that the little ghost was crafted by him personally, and that ordinary people cannot unravel it. He suggested that it would be best to come to the mainland. I replied that it was precisely because we couldn't make it that I called him! If we could go, we would have gone directly to him instead of wasting long-distance call fees!
Ajan Dong didn't have much of a solution either. He advised us to first find other Ajan to protect the Victim, and then go to the mainland to find him. After all, while other Ajan might not be able to break the connection between the little ghost and the Victim, they could still suppress the little ghost. I slapped my forehead again, wondering why I hadn't thought of this key point earlier! Azhans are experts in exorcising and dealing with ghosts!
I instructed Ajan Dong to wait for us at the company and not to go anywhere. After hanging up, I immediately ran to my grandfather and asked if he knew any reliable and skilled Ajan to recommend. My grandfather said he was too old and couldn't remember the contact details for any Ajan, suggesting I go find Second Uncle.
That old sly fox clearly didn't want to get involved in these matters. I felt a bit angry, thinking my grandfather was being too petty by not wanting to help with my issues.
Holding back my frustration, I called Second Uncle. Upon learning that the last Victim who had been turned into a little ghost was in trouble, Second Uncle didn't immediately give me the contact details for an Ajan but instead reminded me, "Business is business; don't forget about the money. With her trouble and being a celebrity, I think we can at least ask for a million!"
You might as well just rob her! Are you crazy about money? I almost blurted that out but managed to hold it in. Finally, Second Uncle told me the address of an Ajan. Before hanging up, he reiterated that we must ask for a million; money is hard to earn these days, so if we can take advantage of someone, we should! He had been driven mad by his own property issues, so I couldn't be bothered with him and hung up.
Then, I took Miss Ming and headed straight for that Ajan Master's house.
I knew this Ajan; he had once gone with Second Uncle to Chiang Mai to deal with matters involving many ghosts. His name is A-Zhan Ping, and he specializes in using a skull to perform exorcisms.
However, A-Zhan Ping's place was far from Bangkok; it took us a good seven or eight hours to get there. By the time we arrived, it was already dark. Miss Ming told me she felt uneasy and sensed something bad was about to happen. I estimated that according to what she had said earlier, the effect of the Talismans was about to wear off, and the little ghost might have already come looking for us—perhaps even lurking nearby.
I didn't dare tell Miss Ming about this for fear it would make her even more scared.
A-Zhan Ping lived in a very ordinary residential house. I walked over and knocked on the door. It wasn't long before I saw him. Compared to before, A-Zhan Ping hadn't changed; he still looked like a University Teacher—gentle and quiet. He remembered me and smiled, saying in very broken Chinese, "Goodbye you."
I felt a bit dazed; he probably meant to say "Nice to see you again."
Clearly, A-Zhan Ping's Chinese level couldn't compare with Ajan Dong's. I seriously doubted whether he could understand what was going on.
After entering the room, A-Zhan Ping sat on the mat on the floor and quietly looked at me. After pondering for a while, I finally called Second Uncle. When I mentioned needing him as a translator, Second Uncle angrily exclaimed, "If you don't know Thai, what are you doing in Thailand!"
I felt quite wronged; it was him who asked me to come to Thailand to accompany Grandpa, and I was being tormented by him with Chess. I shouldn't need to know Thai for that.
Despite his scolding, Second Uncle still had me pass the phone to A-Zhan Ping. The two communicated for a while over the phone, and after hanging up, A-Zhan Ping nodded at me. He waved at Miss Ming, signaling her to come over. Miss Ming looked at me, appearing somewhat scared. I reassured her that everything would be arranged by Ajan, and only then did she dare to approach.
Although A-Zhan Ping's Chinese wasn't very good, his gaze was indeed sharp. After sizing up Miss Ming for a moment, he focused on her bag. He extended his hand, indicating for Miss Ming to bring her bag over.
Miss Ming seemed confused, and I was puzzled too; why did he want her bag? Was he checking if she had money? Given Second Uncle's personality, he could do something like that, but I thought Ajan wouldn't be so lowbrow.
As Miss Ming placed her bag on the ground, A-Zhan Ping had already pulled out a skull and waved his hand at Miss Ming, signaling her to step back. Miss Ming retreated to my side and asked what that person was doing with the plate.
I nearly laughed out loud and said, "That's not a plate; it's a human skull, specifically from a Sorcerer. It's very powerful and can help Ajan perform rituals."
Miss Ming's face turned pale with fright, and she seemed ready to bolt for the door. At the same time, A-Zhan Ping held the skull in one hand while slowly opening Miss Ming's shoulder bag with the other. The moment the bag opened, I felt a powerful Yin Qi surge out from inside. It darted toward Miss Ming like a venomous snake.
Miss Ming must have sensed the danger as well; her face turned green, she trembled all over, and her eyes widened in shock. I reacted quickly and grabbed the White Olive Amulet around my neck to shield her.
At that moment, A-Zhan Ping suddenly placed the skull on the bag while reciting incantations. His left hand gently tapped on the skull repeatedly, and the Yin Qi that had just surged out seemed to be grasped by its tail and could no longer advance.
Since the shoulder bag was completely open, I saw that it contained an Infant Mummy. It looked familiar; upon closer inspection, wasn't it the one I had helped Miss Ming refine earlier?
It was truly speechless; she clearly knew this little ghost was troublesome yet carried it with her—didn't she fear for her life?
A-Zhan Ping's chanting was calm; it didn't sound as thunderous as Ajan Dong's but carried an indescribable authority within its tranquility.
However, the little ghost's resentment was unexpectedly strong; merely chanting scriptures was not enough to suppress it. Seeing that he could not draw back the Yin Qi, A-Zhan Ping furrowed his brow slightly. He stopped reciting and extended his right hand, aiming a ring he wore at the corpse. The ring was engraved with a tiger head statue, shaped quite uniquely.
Later, I learned that it was called the Rushi Tiger Head Ring, which had the ability to control spirits. Many Ajan would wear one to manage the spirits within their Amulets. A few years later, I also acquired one, but my ring no longer contained Lushi spirits; it only had the power to control spirits, which was incomparable to A-Zhan Ping's.
A-Zhan Ping recited the scriptures again, and immediately a surge of spiritual energy burst forth from the ring. Unlike ordinary Yin Qi, this energy felt relatively brighter and less dark and negative. At the very least, I did not feel afraid. This spiritual energy circled around the corpse and then transformed into thin threads that wrapped around it.
In the empty air, a faint sound of a baby's cry could be heard, but unlike an ordinary cry, it sounded excessively mournful. It sent chills down my spine; Miss Ming must have heard it too, as she grabbed my arm in panic and shouted, "It's coming! I heard it; it's coming for me!"
In contrast to Miss Ming's panic, A-Zhan Ping appeared calm and composed. He recited the scriptures steadily, occasionally tapping on the skull in his hand. After about a few minutes, the Yin Qi in the bag began to retract gradually into the Infant Mummy's body. A-Zhan Ping pressed the skull onto the corpse and tied it with a thread before wrapping it up.
Seeing him nod, I couldn't help but feel surprised and asked, "Is it done?"
A-Zhan Ping could still understand those two words; he nodded again and made a sound of affirmation. I was even more surprised; it was too quick! It took less than ten minutes to complete...
At this moment, Miss Ming also regained her composure; she was drenched in sweat and looked utterly exhausted. I went over to retrieve the bag, but she dared not take it. This was because when A-Zhan Ping closed the bag, she had also seen the Infant Mummy. I felt both amused and exasperated as I said, "You were brave enough to take it before; why are you scared now? Don't worry; Ajan has subdued it; it won't harm you for now."
Miss Ming looked at me in fear and said, "No, I didn't bring it out. It has always been on the offering table in my room without moving!"
I gasped as I finally understood why Miss Ming was so panicked. After all, she was terrified of this little ghost and knew that it could restrict her freedom; how could she possibly bring it along when coming to Thailand to resolve such matters?
This situation was hard to explain. Miss Ming was certain she hadn't touched that little ghost and couldn't have put it in her bag when leaving, yet the corpse had indeed appeared inside her bag.
