The remaining battery on my phone was low, and I had some other thoughts, so I didn't explain much to Second Uncle. I only told him that it was very dangerous here and that he should send someone with the items, but he must not bring too many Ajan with him!
This blatant hint left Second Uncle silent for a moment. After a while, he said he understood. After confirming my location, he assured me that he would have someone deliver it as soon as possible. At the same time, he expressed concern for my safety here. I told him that time flowed much slower here than outside, so I shouldn't starve, and with the protection of the White Olive Amulet, I would be safe.
This wasn't a lie; when Old Ghost had tried to plot against me before, the White Olive Amulet had blocked his attempts.
After hanging up, I looked up at Zheng Xuejie. Her face was blurred in the darkness, but she didn't ask me what Ajan was, seeming uninterested in what I had said. I guessed she probably didn't understand the situation regarding Ajan, which was a good thing. Then, I handed my phone to Qin Senior Sister and said, "Call home to let them know you're safe; they are quite worried about you."
Qin Senior Sister was taken aback; she hadn't expected me to say that. However, it struck a chord with her—anyone could tell that after not contacting home for a week, her parents must be extremely worried. She trembled as she dialed her home number and spoke a few words before her voice became choked with emotion. Seeing her like this, I quickly took the phone back and said, "Ah, Auntie, this is Shen Yi. Yes, yes, it's the Shen Yi who sold the Amulet to Qin Senior Sister. Haha, I'm traveling with some classmates and happened to run into Qin Senior Sister. Don't worry; she's safe with us; it's just that her phone fell into water a few days ago and hasn't been repaired yet. Yes, it's my fault for not reminding her to tell you. I'll make sure to get her home safely!"
After that, I didn't give Qin Senior Sister another chance to speak and hung up the phone directly. She stared blankly for a moment and then said angrily, "Why did you hang up?"
I replied, "With that tone of yours, if they heard it, wouldn't they be even more worried? Since we've already reported that you're safe, there's no need to let them think too much."
Qin Senior Sister fell silent. After a while, she looked at Zheng Xuejie and asked if we should call Zheng Xuejie's parents as well. I thought about it and shook my head. Zheng Xuejie was currently possessed; although Old Ghost was willing to let us contact the outside world, it didn't mean he would help reassure the living. It would be better to let things be as they were. After all, as long as we could ensure everyone returned safely in the end.
This was what I said to Qin Senior Sister; in reality, I had another thought that might be somewhat selfish. Just as Qin Senior Sister worried, what if Zheng Xuejie's physical body wasn't returned after we got out? If we reported her safety to her family now and then they came looking for her later on, where would we find her...
If we were accused of kidnapping or selling people again, that would truly be unjust! I didn't want to add more trouble for myself; even though I knew this thought was somewhat selfish and evasive of responsibility, I couldn't afford to think too much about it.
Then I handed my phone to Ma Rulong and suggested he call someone to report his safety as well. Ma Rulong took the phone and stared at the screen for a while before sighing and returning it to me. He said, "Forget it; there's no one worth calling."
"What about your senior brothers?" I asked.
Ma Rulong's expression darkened as he replied, "Since leaving the Daoist temple, they haven't returned. When they left, there was no way to contact them or any specific destination given. Over the years, I've never encountered them."
I actually wanted to ask his parents, but thinking about it, this guy has lived in a temple since he was young, so he must be extremely disappointed in his parents to act so rebelliously. Rather than digging into his wounds, it's better to play dumb. As for his twin brother Banrada... forget it, they are not even real brothers, which is quite pitiful.
After a while, Zheng Xuejie asked when we would be able to find the entrance.
I said we had to wait for someone to deliver the items first. However, before that, it was best to keep the souls here quiet so as not to interfere with the phone communication. Otherwise, when people arrive, we wouldn't know how to contact them.
Zheng Xuejie responded with an "mm" to indicate agreement and then quietly disappeared.
I didn't understand why it chose Zheng Xuejie as the target for possession; Fat Daoist and Ma Rulong were the first ones down here. If it was just about possession, it should have chosen that fat guy instead.
Not being able to figure it out, I decided not to dwell on it.
We had been underground for an unknown amount of time until I suddenly felt very hungry when my phone rang. After answering, I heard Second Uncle's voice; he said he had arrived at the Wangsheng Mountain temple and asked where I was.
I was taken aback and said, "Aren't you in Thailand? How did you get here?"
Second Uncle replied, "Stop talking nonsense and tell me where you are!"
He sounded anxious and angry. I realized I had caused him trouble by making him travel all the way from Thailand at such an important moment, and I felt really guilty. After telling Second Uncle about the wooden board at the temple entrance, I warned him that there was something strange near that board and advised him not to go directly there but to throw the items from a distance.
Second Uncle caught on and asked if people could also follow down.
I said yes, but you absolutely must not come; it’s really dangerous!
Second Uncle said, "Of course I won't go; I'll have someone else do it. Don't worry."
As he spoke, I heard a few words in Thai; I didn't know who he was communicating with. It made sense though; having received my hint, Second Uncle would naturally bring Ajan Master along. It seemed he would send Ajan Master ahead to scout out the situation.
I shouted into the air again, and Zheng Xuejie quickly materialized, asking if the person had arrived. I nodded and said they were just outside the temple; she could bring them and the items down. Zheng Xuejie responded with an "oh," not asking why someone would come down, seemingly indifferent to everything except leaving this place.
After a while, footsteps and the sound of something being dragged came from around the corner. I shone my phone's light over and saw two men in black monk robes, one dragging a pile of items towards me. They noticed me too and nodded slightly as a greeting.
I hurried over and saw they were dragging two large boxes. When opened, they were filled with bloodstained sanitary napkins. I quickly called Ma Rulong over, and the hefty man ran over, looking quite surprised. He glanced up at the two Black-Clad Achans before lowering his head to take the boxes away.
I had never seen these two Black-Clad Achans before and didn't know their names. One of them handed me a piece of paper, saying it was written by Second Uncle. I took it and saw a line that read: "Tell Ajan where the danger is."
I hesitated; although Ajan was powerful, this was a very strange place. The Old Ghost attached to Zheng Xuejie gave me an unsettling feeling. I instinctively doubted whether Ajan could handle her. If things went wrong, it could lead to disastrous consequences.
But then I thought that with both Black-Clad Achans coming down together, they should be able to deal with significant danger. Second Uncle must have had great confidence in sending them, so I should trust them too.
Honestly, if Ajan Master could handle this Old Ghost and prevent her from escaping, that would be a good thing. With that thought in mind, I stopped hesitating and gestured for them to look at Zheng Xuejie, saying, "That one is her; you need to be careful and not provoke her; she's very powerful."
Although I wasn't sure if the two Ajan Masters understood me, they both turned to Zheng Xuejie and scrutinized her from head to toe. Zheng Xuejie met their gaze without flinching, her expression unchanged.
At that moment, one Ajan pulled out a Skull Domain from his pocket and lightly tapped it while chanting in a strange tone. Zheng Xuejie's body trembled slightly, her eyebrows raised; in contrast, the Ajan's face looked much worse.
The other Ajan immediately took out a Dried Corpse Arm and a Small Coffin from his bag. He struck the bottom of the coffin hard with the Dried Corpse Arm, producing an extremely muffled sound underground. Meanwhile, the first Ajan pulled out a sharp blade that appeared to be a Demon-Slaying Blade!
Zheng Xuejie seemed to realize that these two had ulterior motives beyond just delivering items, and those motives were not good. A cold smile appeared on her face as she suddenly raised her arm and waved it in this direction.
