I am in a business marriage with Zhao Hanyu.
After a year of marriage, I still couldn't remember his face. Until one day, I lost a game and had to choose any man present to kiss. I looked around and finally found a face that seemed somewhat familiar. I leaned over and whispered to him, "Since I have a bit of an impression of you, bear with me; I won't kiss your little mouth."
The other party replied solemnly, "It seems I can't hold back..."
I was about to give up, feeling disappointed as I accused him of lacking marital affection. The man beside me, the black-faced man, sneered, "Your husband can't even recognize you; what marital affection is there to speak of?"
Ah, it seems he is indeed my husband. Help!
I lost the game and chose a dare. The dare was to randomly find a man present to kiss. My best friend Jiang Qing was worried: "There are so many people here, and your eyesight isn't great. What if you accidentally kiss the wrong person?"
I patted my chest confidently: "Don't worry, I just saw my husband. I'll just ask him for help later."
Jiang Qing was half-convinced but didn't say much more. I stood up and walked over to the opposite side. Jiang Qing shouted from behind, "Remember to take a photo; otherwise, it doesn't count."
That was a good reminder from her. My eyesight isn't great, and I have face blindness—though not severe, it can be quite embarrassing. At the last gathering, I mistook a stranger for an old classmate and chatted for quite a while before realizing my mistake. The other person asked if I did it on purpose, and I felt a bit guilty because, well, I actually did it on purpose.
I looked around, searching for my target. Suddenly, something caught my eye. The man standing not far away looked somewhat familiar; he seemed to be Zhao Hanyu. I quickly walked over and tapped him on the shoulder.
The man turned around, looking at me with confusion. I smiled and said, "Hello, could you do me a favor?" He squinted at me and assessed the situation, asking, "What kind of favor?"
I leaned in closer and lowered my voice, "I lost a game of Truth or Dare and need to find a guy to kiss. Are you available?"
"If it's inconvenient, I can skip the kiss; just let me take a photo instead."
He hesitated for a few seconds before shaking his head firmly in refusal. "No... that's not possible. No negotiation."
I felt a bit disappointed and waved my hand dismissively. "Alright then, I'll find someone else." Before turning away, I couldn't help but mutter, "You really don't care about marital bonds; after all, we’ve shared a bed."
Suddenly, a cold laugh came from behind me. "You can't even recognize your husband and still have the nerve to blame others for not caring about marital bonds?"
I froze and slowly turned around. Looking at the man who had just rejected me, I examined him closely for a moment and realized he had handsome features but… he really didn’t seem like my husband.
I stiffly turned back to the man who had laughed coldly; his eyes were sharp, his face frosty, and the corners of his lips curled slightly in what seemed like sarcasm yet felt oddly familiar. After scrutinizing him for a few seconds, I was shocked to discover that he was indeed Zhao Hanyu—my actual husband.
I swallowed hard, suddenly feeling like I was in deep trouble. Previously, I had entered into a business marriage with Zhao Hanyu just to drive away my pursuers. We didn't live together regularly; even when under the same roof, our encounters were few and far between.
As a result, in the two years of our marriage, I had mistaken Zhao Hanyu's identity more times than I could count on one hand. Once, I even mistook someone else for Zhao Hanyu in the garage and ended up being scammed out of five hundred dollars.
"Honey, let me explain. I was just joking with you," I said, forcing the words out.
Zhao Hanyu's expression was emotionless, his eyes seemingly frozen with frost.
"No need to explain, I understand everything," he replied.
He turned to the man I had mistakenly identified, saying, "Sir, thank you for refusing my wife's unreasonable request."
The man waved his hand and smiled, "No need to mention it; it's the least I could do."
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhao Hanyu's face darkened even further.
Despairing, I closed my eyes and silently prayed.
I hoped this man wouldn't say anything else.
Zhao Hanyu, with a scowl and barely contained anger, nodded slightly, picked up his coat, and took my hand. "Let's go home."
I obediently followed him, and as we passed by Jiang Qing and the others, I gestured that we were leaving first.
Jiang Qing returned my gesture, indicating that she would be available if anything came up.
