Introduction
For five years, whenever nightmares struck, I could always see Lu Huai's radiant smile, the face that suddenly disappeared five years ago.
I thought my longing for him had faded with time, but today, I was forcefully pulled back to reality.
He stood right in front of me, exactly the same as he was five years ago.
I resisted the urge to rush forward and embrace him, forcing myself to stay calm.
"Why did you suddenly appear?" I asked, my voice trembling.
However, he merely smiled and asked playfully, "Miss Meng, are you trying to flirt?"
I took a deep breath and suddenly reached out to touch the scar on his arm.
He froze instantly, the smile vanishing from his face, replaced by shock.
I smiled back and asked, "What's wrong? Do you look alike now that even the position of the crescent-shaped scar is the same? I don't remember biting your arm."

"You..." Jiang Yu swallowed hard; he wanted to explain, but the words got stuck in his throat.
He noticed that Meng Shu's eyes held no trace of panic; instead, they were filled with a calmness that seemed to see through everything, which made him even more anxious.
Meng Shu didn't give him a chance to speak; she stepped over the coffee table and walked right up to Jiang Yu, locking her gaze onto him and calmly yet firmly saying, "Jiang Yu, I know who you are; you don't need to pretend anymore."
Jiang Yu took a sudden step back, not expecting Meng Shu to be so certain. He instinctively wanted to deny it, but before he could say anything, Meng Shu's next words cut him off.
Before turning twenty, Lu Huai was Meng Shu's everything. The moment he risked his life to take seven-year-old Meng Shu out of the orphanage, she felt as if she had seen a savior.
At that time, he was just a ten-year-old boy himself, but he didn't abandon Meng Shu; instead, he began a life of wandering with her.
Even after leaving the orphanage, their lives were not easy, but as long as Lu Huai had something to eat, he would never let Meng Shu go hungry.
Occasionally when he couldn't bring food home or when others stole their money, he would wait outside McDonald's for a free hamburger to take back to Meng Shu.
When they first started wandering, they lived under bridges and in parks; later on, Lu Huai stumbled upon an abandoned old villa near a school and brought Meng Shu there to settle down.
Little Lu Huai was already able to support Meng Shu, like an adult providing her with a world of safety.
Thus, he was everything to Meng Shu. Always has been and always will be.
"In his teenage years, Lu Huai could save money and work to support Meng Shu's education; at 25, is Lu Huai merely a coward who has changed his appearance and disappeared without a trace?"
At that moment, seeing the living Lu Huai, emotions of resentment and grievance surged in her heart like a tidal wave, overwhelming her with a sense of suffocation.
"Do you think changing your identity can hide the fact that you are Lu Huai? Or do you think that after five years, I wouldn't recognize you?"
Meng Shu's gaze was piercing, as if she could see through Jiang Yu's heart.
Driven to a corner, Jiang Yu knew he could not escape this time; he had no choice but to confront Meng Shu.
His face turned pale as he breathed heavily, confusion flashing in his eyes. He opened his mouth to retort but found himself at a loss for words.
Seeing Jiang Yu silent, Meng Shu continued, "You only have two choices now: either tell the truth or disappear from my life forever!"
She could no longer hold back; her longing had reached its peak, and all she hoped was that Lu Huai would not suddenly vanish from her life again.
Jiang Yu lowered his gaze; he could not deny Meng Shu's words. He knew clearly that she had seen through everything.
Taking a deep breath, he wanted to say something but found his throat blocked as if something prevented him from speaking.
A flicker of pain crossed Jiang Yu's eyes as he struggled internally and finally whispered, "You're right, I am Lu Huai, but I am no longer the original Lu Huai..."
