Nuo chuckled lightly, unable to deny it. 0

"What kind of expression is that? I really can take you home," she said. 0

She disliked others questioning her abilities. When she was learning in the Heavenly Court, her sisters, the Celestial Maidens, laughed at her for being slow. Now that she was in the human world, she felt looked down upon, which infuriated her. 0

It seemed that to prove her capabilities, Yui's face turned a deep shade of red, and her glass-like eyes radiated a stubborn aura. Then, she repeated once more, "I really have the ability to take you home." 0

Nuo couldn't help but glance at her; it was rare to see such a stubborn little girl. He kindly said, "I believe you," while a faint smile crept onto his lips. 0

Yui's sharp eyes caught this immediately, and she quickly forgot the earlier unpleasantness. She took a few quick steps forward; her small frame barely reached Nuo's chest. She made an effort to stand on her tiptoes and touched Nuo's shallow dimple with her chubby little hand. "Benefactor, your smile is really beautiful. You should smile more often." 0

Nuo quickly returned to his expressionless demeanor but did not shake off her hand. The warmth of her touch on his cheek was comforting—warm enough to make him feel attached. 0

Seeing that he did not refuse her, Yui quietly smiled. Was their relationship with the Benefactor getting better? 0

Another night passed, and Yui sat around the campfire with Nuo, resting her chin on her hands and sighing sadly. She sighed to the left and then to the right, endlessly. 0

Nuo furrowed his brows; his gaze remained calm and patient as he chose not to speak. Finally unable to bear it any longer, Yui lamented, "Benefactor, I really miss my mother." 0

Ignoring Nuo for the moment, Yui opened up and began to talk non-stop. "Every month during these three days, my mother would hold me to sleep every night. She would sing to me and coax me to sleep. At those times, it didn't feel so hard." 0

"Are you still a child? Do you need someone to coax you to sleep?" came a cold voice laced with sarcasm. 0

Yui widened her eyes, her round pupils darting around before settling on Nor. "I am a child, after all." 0

"Hmph." Nor grunted in response and fell silent again. 0

In the palace where he lived, it was a survival of the fittest. The first thing one had to learn from birth was how to fight and how to survive. There was no room for naivety. 0
