My heart was pounding, and my breathing became heavy as I looked at the Black-Furred Zongzi; I could hardly move! Just then, the Black-Furred Zongzi sprang into action, glancing at us with its dark eyes before pouncing on the paralyzed Wu Xiaoshou!
Just as Wu Xiaoshou was about to be caught, Song A swung a knife down. At that moment, Wu Xiaoshou suddenly scrambled to his feet and ran out in a panic. Song A cursed him and urged us to run quickly.
Heaven rewards those who are diligent. After running wildly, we finally spotted a staircase! Although this staircase seemed so strange and out of place in this ancient tomb, I had no time to ponder its dangers or where it led.
With the Zongzi in front and a swarm of snakes behind, this Earthen Staircase was our only hope!
However, the staircase seemed quite old and not very sturdy. As we raced up, dirt began to collapse beneath us. After several seconds, we finally reached the top of the staircase. Before we could celebrate, my heart sank again, and Wu Xiaoshou sat down in shock, exclaiming anxiously, "This is bad, really bad!"
At this point, there was no path left on the staircase; it had collapsed! Even if we cleared the dirt now, we wouldn't have enough time. Besides, we were not professional Grave Robbers, let alone skilled in Tomb Hole techniques.
Seeing the Black-Furred Zongzi and Black Bug closing in, Song A suddenly kicked Wuma You in frustration and shouted, "Wu Xiaoshou, where's your treasure? Hurry up and take it out; don't get us killed here!"
Upon hearing this, Wu Xiaoshou trembled nervously as he fumbled through his clothes. In no time, he pulled out the treasure he had been talking about! His terrified eyes were instantly replaced with joy as if he had seen his beloved. He kissed the treasure lightly and proudly exclaimed, "This is my ancestral treasure from Wizard Grandpa!"
Just after he said that, the Black-Furred Zongzi reached the bottom of the staircase. Although those bugs were biting it, it showed no reaction and climbed step by step. Seeing it almost reach us, Wu Xiaoshou wasted no time; he raised the item in his hand and shouted loudly, "With this seal in hand, even ghosts will flee! Get lost, Black Fur!"
Listening to Wu Xiaoshou's words, I looked hopefully at the Black Fur and saw it freeze for a moment, its eerie eyes staring at us without moving.
Seeing that the Black Fur really wasn't moving anymore, Wu Xiaoshou let out a sigh of relief and said triumphantly, "How about that? Aren't you even more in awe of Wizard Grandpa now?"
I still felt uneasy looking at the Black-Furred Zongzi; its eyes were hollow and lifeless as if they came from the depths of hell, radiating a chilling aura. What frightened me most was that despite its eyes being rotten and blackened, I could still strongly feel its gaze fixed on me. I stared back at it intently. Just then, the Black Fur moved again; instead of climbing, it jumped toward me. Terrified, I swung the torch at its face and shouted, "Run down!"
Fortunately, there was no point of support in mid-air, and when the Black Fur was accurately struck, a "poof" sound was heard as its face instantly caught fire. The insects clinging to the Black Fur scattered in an instant. Within seconds, the Black-Furred Zongzi was engulfed in flames, resembling a fiery figure, and it fell to the ground in a disheveled manner. We didn't linger for a moment longer and dashed down, knowing that any words at this point were useless; escaping was our priority!
In the midst of the chaos, we reached the end where a door stood ajar. I cautiously entered and lit my lighter, only to be surprised by the sight of a Light Slot. As I lit it, I prayed, "It must ignite, it must ignite..."
With a "poof," it actually ignited! Although the flame wasn't very strong, the tomb chamber was instantly illuminated. After scanning my surroundings and finding no immediate danger, I intended to close the door but was taken aback to see Sudai and Song A had just managed to shut it tightly while blocking it with some objects.
This tomb chamber was much larger than the previous one we had been in with the severed head, roughly the size of two living rooms. Apart from some furnishings, the most eye-catching feature was the large pool in the center! Noticing something floating inside, I rushed over and was horrified to see four corpses drifting in the water! The stench hit me hard, making me feel nauseous.
Wu Xiaoshou also approached the pool and peered at the floating bodies, puzzled as he said, "Why is there a pool in this tomb? Were they swimming?"
"Are you out of your mind? Who swims in a tomb?" Song A scolded him before adding, "It looks like these people have been dead for quite some time."
"Yeah, judging by their level of decay, they must have been dead for about a month," Wu Xiaoshou agreed.
A month? Could it be that my dad's group came here? The timing fits perfectly, especially since Songzi had been here before. I was certain that my dad's group had definitely visited this place! As for the four corpses floating on the water, none belonged to my dad, which relieved me.
"Hey, there seems to be something over there!" Wu Xiaoshou pointed at one of the corpses as if he had spotted treasure, his eyes shining with excitement. Following his gaze, I indeed noticed something unusual; this corpse wasn't floating like the others but seemed to be fixed in place by something.
"What is it?" Song A searched for a piece of wood inside the tomb and exerted great effort trying to push that corpse aside. However, next to it appeared a black and yellow object that looked like gold or something else.
"I'll go take a look!" At that moment, Wu Xiaoshou volunteered to swim over to that spot. We certainly wouldn't oppose him. We watched as he jumped into the water with gleaming eyes; despite being surrounded by four dead bodies and an awful stench, he seemed completely unfazed and likely only focused on that black-yellow object!
Before long, Wu Xiaoshou had swum up next to that corpse. At this point, he showed no fear; instead, he roughly pushed the corpse aside. To our surprise, there was a circular platform underneath! It seemed Wu Xiaoshou had found something valuable; he carefully placed it on his shoulder and secured it with his head before swimming back toward us.
The black and yellow object is a box. Wu Xiaoshou held it close to his chest and excitedly said to us, "I must make it clear in advance that this treasure is mine. You can only take a look, just one look!"
