Standing on the ground, looking up at Mei Fenfeng, who was smiling as she free-fell from the high building, Bing Tianyi's mind went blank.
With a loud thud, the crowd around him scattered in panic, but Bing Tianyi stood alone in front of Mei Fenfeng.
Could she really be dead? No way, no way!
Bing Tianyi kept telling himself this, murmuring as he crazily ran away. At that moment, he had no idea how to respond to a scene that only appeared in movies.
He didn't know how long it had been when Bing Tianyi finally realized he had run far away from that place. Yet the scene of Mei Fenfeng's death lingered in front of his eyes, refusing to fade away.
Coming to a stop and listening to the sounds of police and ambulance sirens in the city, Bing Tianyi clasped his hands together and prayed repeatedly. He didn't want Mei Fenfeng to leave like this. He would even be willing to trade his entire life of marriage for her to stay!
But falling from the seventh floor and landing flat on the ground without dying? That was simply absurd.
As if things couldn't get worse, Bing Tianyi was at a loss for what to do when his phone rang again. Answering the call, before he could say a word, he heard his mother crying on the other end: "Son, hurry to the hospital! Your father... he’s not going to make it!"
"What? What happened?" Bing Tianyi shouted.
"Just hurry! City Center Hospital basement." After his mother said this, there was silence on the other end of the line.
Bing Tianyi didn’t give himself a moment to react. He turned around, took out the little over a hundred yuan he had on him, and dashed into the street.
"Are you looking for death?"
"My father is in critical condition, please help us, sir!"
"Come up!"
Before long, the car brought Bing Tianyi to the entrance of the city center hospital. Bing Tianyi dropped the only hundred-dollar bill he had and rushed into the hospital.
When he reached the first basement floor, Bing Tianyi's father, a man nearing sixty, lay covered with a white sheet that was now stained bright red with blood. Bing Tianyi's mother stood by her husband's bedside, her face pale. Throughout his life, this man had shielded her from countless storms. Yet now, over less than a hundred dollars, he had been reduced to this state.
"Who did this? Who is responsible for this?" Bing Tianyi knelt beside his father, turned around, and tightly grasped his mother's arms, his eyes bloodshot as he shouted.
Bing Tianyi's mother remained silent, staring blankly at her son. After a long moment, she slapped Bing Tianyi hard across the face.
The slap brought Bing Tianyi back to reality. He recalled the desperate voice of his father when he took that little over a hundred dollars from his parents. He also remembered Brother Bao's brutal methods when he had beaten another elderly man at the night market.
Everything stemmed from a simple class reunion, from the goddess in his heart! It was also due to his own failures!
However, at that moment, no one was more heartbroken than Bing Tianyi's mother, this kind woman with graying hair who could hardly bear such a drastic change. She looked at her husband, who had already lost all signs of life on the bed, and then glanced at her son kneeling on the ground in despair. Living on might mean enduring even greater suffering.
And she had had enough!
With that thought, Bing Tianyi's mother suddenly turned around and violently slammed her head against the doorframe in front of her.
The impact was so sudden and unexpected!
As blood flowed down from the door frame, Bing Tianyi's Mother turned around, her eyes filled with despair as she looked at her son, until her breath ceased. The surrounding nurses and doctors pushed her into the emergency room, but her gaze showed no sign of change.
Bing Tianyi lay beside his father, feeling utterly devastated.
The immense setbacks and hardships of life made him feel that living was nothing short of torture. Perhaps death was the best solution; only then would he not be humiliated by his classmates, nor would his family be torn apart.
Slowly rising, Bing Tianyi stood tall, looking at the sincere smile on his father's face in the hospital bed. At that moment, it seemed as if he saw his father smiling at him, a smile that only appeared when he brought home a perfect score.
“Father, take care of Mother over there. Once I avenge you, I will come to find you,” Bing Tianyi whispered before lowering his head and striding towards the door.
Hastily exiting the hospital, he stood in the bustling street, looking around. He knew that all of this was a scheme by Huang Ke and Wang Ziyan, forcing him to steal his parents' life-saving money, pushing him into bed with Mei Fenfeng, leading him down this irreversible path in life. Everything stemmed from these two individuals.
He swore he would not rest until he avenged this grievance!
With such a simple thought in mind, Bing Tianyi headed straight to the Knife Shop. After all, he was already destined to die; whether he had money or not didn't matter anymore!
Upon entering, he chose a dagger and approached the young shopkeeper with a pale face, asking grimly, “Can I use this knife to kill someone?”
