"Wait, there's something! I'm here to talk to you about the celebration banquet tonight. Don't tell me you forgot; Principal Old Man invited many prominent figures from the Mathematics Community, and excellent alumni are coming back to attend. That trophy is going to be shown off!"
"I'm not going! You can perform by yourself; the trophy is with you anyway," Wu Rong flatly refused.
Ye Ming calmly replied, "But you're the main character."
"Not interested. Just say I'm sick," Wu Rong insisted firmly.
Ye Ming wasn't anxious; he could tell that Wu Rong had something on his mind, and it was impossible for him to enjoy the performance without resolving it first. Ye Ming chuckled and suddenly changed the subject, saying, "You're in a bad mood and not going home; does it have anything to do with Xiaojiejie?"
Wu Rong frowned, "Why do you always guess everything is related to her? Do I have to have something going on with her?"
Wu Rong knew that Ye Ming understood him well and didn't bother hiding his feelings; he just needed to vent.
Ye Ming flashed a mischievous smile, moved closer to Wu Rong, and leaned against his broad shoulder.
"Brother Rong, what’s there to hide from me? I know you well enough! Everything seems fine now, but the only variable affecting you is that little white rabbit at your home. To you, she is Unknown Variable X, and she’s making it so you can't go home. If it's not related to her, who else could it be? Although I’m not as genius as you, my IQ isn’t low either, and my emotional intelligence is several times yours. I can see through this."
Wu Rong maintained a serious expression and didn’t argue further.
Ye Ming grew more excited and couldn’t help his gossiping spirit, saying, "What’s wrong? Did you suddenly realize you like her and confess only to be rejected? Is that why you're embarrassed and don’t want to go home?"
Wu Rong immediately elbowed him from behind.
Ye Ming let out a grunt, clutching his stomach as if he were an injured old man curling up in pain on the nearby chair.
"You’re ruthless! I’m trying to help you!"
Wu Rong's tone was fiery. "Help me? Is making up illogical scenarios for fun considered helping?"
Ye Ming paused, stuck out his tongue, and smiled sheepishly.
"I’ve told you many times; I don’t... don’t have those kinds of feelings for her."
Just as Wu Rong was about to explode with anger, he suddenly stumbled over his words but quickly continued. Ye Ming only felt a bit awkward but didn’t pay much attention.
Wu Rong himself didn’t notice the subtle hesitation caused by his inner feelings leading to a verbal stumble.
"Alright, alright," Ye Ming made a surrender gesture and said, "Then tell me what’s going on. After all, we live under the same roof; if there’s conflict, it’ll be awkward later on. Based on my experience, it must be because you acted unilaterally without considering others' feelings. So hurry up and tell me; I’ll analyze it for you and see how we can handle it."
At this point, Ye Ming added with confusion, "Rao is a good girl; you wouldn’t want to make things difficult for her!"
Wu Rong frowned slightly but eventually spoke up under Ye Ming's encouragement.
After hearing everything, Ye Ming had already gone through several thoughts in his mind, almost jumping up in excitement and shouting "Hooray!" It was truly a case of wanting something and having it come true. Originally, he thought that the plan to kidnap Wu Rong would be somewhat troublesome, with a success rate that wasn't guaranteed. But now, the opportunity had presented itself right before him; it was truly a blessing from heaven!
