"Alright, stop sighing and just go to sleep," the system said. 0
"I'm not tired," Zhang Xiaoxiao retorted. 0
"Not tired? You slept the entire afternoon," the system replied. 0
"What?" Zhang Xiaoxiao was taken aback. 0
"You've been asleep all afternoon; your face is all puffy," the system answered. 0
"Ah?" Zhang Xiaoxiao quickly got up. 0
She ran to the yard and looked at her reflection in the water tank. 0
Indeed, her delicate and fair face was now swollen like a pig's head. 0
"Oh my gosh, this is terrifying," Zhang Xiaoxiao exclaimed. 0
"Quick, go back inside and sleep," the system urged. 0
"Forget it, I'm giving up!" Zhang Xiaoxiao declared. 0
"What do you mean?" the system asked, confused. 0
"I said I'm giving up!" Zhang Xiaoxiao repeated. 0
"What does that mean?" the system still didn't understand. 0
"It means I've given up on trying to fight against you," Zhang Xiaoxiao explained. 0
"Who said that?" the system challenged. 0
"I did," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0
"..." The system was speechless. 0
"Sigh." Zhang Xiaoxiao sighed, then got up and went back inside. 0
She walked to the bedside, took off her outer clothes, lay down on the bed, covered herself with a blanket, and closed her eyes. 0
"Host, please don't give up," the system called out. 0
"I'm not giving up," Zhang Xiaoxiao answered with her eyes closed. 0
"But you just said you're giving up?" The system was skeptical. 0

"I said I'm going to relax, not that I'm giving up," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0
"Are you still going to compete with my family?" the system asked. 0
"Of course!" Zhang Xiaoxiao said without hesitation. 0
"But you just said you weren't going to compete anymore," the system said, confused. 0
"What was said then is in the past; this is now," Zhang Xiaoxiao answered. 0
"..." The system was speechless again. 0
"Host, I actually think you don't need to compete with my family," the system said. 0
"Why?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked curiously. 0
"Because you'll never win against me," the system replied. 0
"Get lost," Zhang Xiaoxiao said, annoyed. 0
"Haha..." The system laughed heartily. 0
"Don't disturb me; I want to sleep," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0
"Alright, good night," the system replied. 0
"Mm, good night," Zhang Xiaoxiao responded. 0

The next morning, Zhang Xiaoxiao woke up. 0
After getting out of bed, she first went to the woodshed to check on the little fox. 0
The little fox was already awake and immediately hid again upon seeing Zhang Xiaoxiao. 0
Zhang Xiaoxiao smiled helplessly and then exited the woodshed, closing the door behind her. 0
She went to the kitchen to make breakfast and then called Zhao Guangcai to get up. 0
After Zhao Guangcai got up, they had breakfast together. 0
"Are you going up the mountain today?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"Mm-hmm," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0
"Then be careful," Zhang Xiaoxiao reminded him. 0
"Okay," Zhao Guangcai responded. 0
"By the way, how's your injury?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked again. 0
"Much better," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0
"Oh." Zhang Xiaoxiao sighed in relief. 0

"I'll go up the mountain after I finish my meal," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Okay, you go ahead," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0
After finishing his meal, Zhao Guangcai went out to the mountain. 0
Once Zhang Xiaoxiao finished cleaning the dishes, she sat in the yard in a daze. 0
Meanwhile, in the Li Family, Li Xiumei had also woken up. 0
Sun Qiuhua was helping her get out of bed. 0
"Mother, where did you go just now?" Li Xiumei asked. 0
"I went outside to see if your father has come back," Sun Qiuhua replied. 0
"Oh," Li Xiumei responded. 0
"Xiu Mei, why did you suddenly come back?" Sun Qiuhua asked cautiously. 0
"I accidentally fell yesterday on my way back and then fainted. When I woke up, I was already at home," Li Xiumei explained. 0
"So that's how it is," Sun Qiuhua said, realizing. 0
"Mother, who brought me back?" Li Xiumei asked curiously. 0
"It was... it was me and a few villagers who brought you back," Sun Qiuhua said. 0
She deliberately concealed that Zhao Xiaosong was the one who brought Li Xiumei back because she didn't want them to recognize each other. 0
"Oh," Li Xiumei did not suspect anything. 0
"Xiu Mei, if you're tired, you can sleep a little longer; don't worry about your father," Sun Qiuhua said. 0
"Mother, I'm not tired; I'm just worried about Father," Li Xiumei replied. 0
"Sigh, your father really is something; he had to go to the fields yesterday," Sun Qiuhua complained. 0
"Mother, don't worry; Father should be back soon," Li Xiumei comforted her. 0
"Sigh." Sun Qiuhua sighed again. 0
Looking at Li Xiumei's obedient demeanor, she became even more determined not to let Li Xiumei recognize Zhao Xiaosong. 0
Li Xiumei is so well-behaved; if she returns to the Zhao Family, she will definitely be bullied. 0
Sun Qiuhua thought of the Zhao Family's preference for sons over daughters and became even more worried. 0
"Mother, don't worry; Father will be back soon," Li Xiumei reassured her again. 0
"Mm." Sun Qiuhua forced a smile. 0
"Mother, I'll go back to my room now," Li Xiumei said. 0

"Alright, go ahead." Sun Qiuhua nodded. 0

After Li Xiumei returned to the house, Sun Qiuhua fell into deep thought again. The thing she feared the most was the meeting tomorrow; once Zhao Xiaosong arrived, Li Xiumei's background would no longer be a secret. 0

The more Sun Qiuhua thought about it, the more anxious she became. She wished she could take Li Xiumei and leave this village immediately. But she couldn't, because Li Xiumei would never agree to it. 0

As her anxiety grew, she suddenly heard Father Li ’s voice from outside. "I’m back!" he called out. 0

Upon hearing this, Sun Qiuhua quickly went out to greet him. "You’re finally back," she said excitedly. 0

"Mm," Father Li replied. 0

"Where is Xiumei?" Father Li asked again. 0

"She’s already back," Sun Qiuhua answered. 0

"That’s good," Father Li sighed in relief. 0

"Husband, there’s something I need to tell you," Sun Qiuhua hesitated to say. 0

"What is it?" Father Li asked. 0

"It’s... it’s..." Sun Qiuhua stammered. 0

"What exactly is it?" Father Li became impatient. 0

"It’s that the eldest sister sent someone to pick up Xiumei," Sun Qiuhua gathered her courage to say. 0

"What?" Father Li was instantly shocked. 0

"The eldest sister sent someone to pick up Xiumei," Sun Qiuhua repeated. 0

"Eldest sister? You mean... you mean..." Father Li said in disbelief. 0

"Yes, it’s the eldest sister," Sun Qiuhua confirmed. 0

"Didn't she say she didn't want Xiumei?" Father Li said angrily. 0

"I don’t know why she suddenly wants Xiumei now," Sun Qiuhua said helplessly. 0

"Hmph, when she didn’t want Xiumei, she said Xiumei was a burden. Now suddenly a son appears out of nowhere; I really don’t understand what she’s up to," Father Li said furiously. 0
