“Zhao Guangcai, what are their names?” Zhang Xiaoxiao asked curiously.
“Da Fu,” Zhao Guangcai said, pointing at one dog.
“Da Gui,” Zhao Guangcai pointed at another dog.
“Jau Cai,” Zhao Guangcai pointed at yet another dog.
“Jin Bao,” Zhao Guangcai pointed at another dog.
“Gou Sheng,” Zhao Guangcai pointed at the last dog.
“Zhao Guangcai, your names are so tacky,” Zhang Xiaoxiao complained.
“Da Fu, Da Gui, Jau Cai, Jin Bao, Gou Sheng, they are easy to take care of,” Zhao Guangcai said dismissively.
“…” Zhang Xiaoxiao had no response.
“Da Fu, Da Gui, Jau Cai, Jin Bao, Gou Sheng, your new home has arrived; you must behave and listen from now on,” Zhao Guangcai said to the Wolfhounds.
“Woo…” the Wolfhounds responded.
Three of the Wolfdogs wagged their tails at Zhao Guangcai, while the other two continued to glare at him.
Zhao Guangcai didn’t mind; he just patted the Wolfhounds on their heads.
Thus, the five Wolfdogs settled into Zhang Xiaoxiao and Zhao Guangcai's home.
At first, the Wolfhounds were not used to it and always tried to break free from their leashes to escape.
However, as time passed, the Wolfhounds slowly adapted and realized that Zhao Guangcai and Zhang Xiaoxiao would not harm them, so they stopped trying to run away.
Later on, the Wolfhounds even began to obey Zhao Guangcai and Zhang Xiaoxiao's commands, such as sit, lie down, come here, and so on.
After Chen Shuying moved into her new home with Xiao Liang, she began a peaceful life.
Every day she took Xiao Liang to work at the Textile Factory in town and returned home after work to take care of him.
She planned to save enough money so that Xiao Liang could attend school in the village.
Zhang Xiaoxiao looked forward to this; she occasionally taught Xiao Liang as well.
Recently, Zhao Guangcai had grown closer to Shih Sheng; he even took Zhang Xiaoxiao to meet Shih Sheng.
Shih Sheng was quite respectful towards Zhang Xiaoxiao and even gifted her several books as a meeting present.
"Mr. Shi, what is this..." Zhang Xiaoxiao asked in confusion.
"It's just a few books, not worth much," Shih Sheng replied calmly.
"Thank you, Mr. Shi," Zhang Xiaoxiao said gratefully.
"You're welcome," Shih Sheng responded.
Meanwhile, Zhao Guangcai looked at Shih Sheng with a puzzled expression, unsure of his intentions.
Shih Sheng had given Zhang Xiaoxiao several economics books, the same ones she had browsed through at the bookstore last time.
His intention was to make it more comfortable for Zhang Xiaoxiao while reading, and he also hinted that Zhao Guangcai might be interested in these books.
Zhao Guangcai was indeed interested, but he would not accept Shih Sheng's goodwill.
"Let's go," Zhao Guangcai said to Zhang Xiaoxiao.
"Okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied.
Then, Zhang Xiaoxiao and Zhao Guangcai left.
"Zhao Guangcai, what do you think of Mr. Shi?" Zhang Xiaoxiao suddenly asked.
"What aspect are you referring to?" Zhao Guangcai countered.
"His way of dealing with people," Zhang Xiaoxiao said.
"He's alright," Zhao Guangcai evaluated.
"How alright is that?" Zhang Xiaoxiao pressed on.
"Sixty points," Zhao Guangcai answered.
"What do you admire most about him?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked curiously.
"His business acumen," Zhao Guangcai replied.
"You understand business?" Zhang Xiaoxiao exclaimed in surprise.
"I don't," Zhao Guangcai shook his head.
"Then you..." Zhang Xiaoxiao said in confusion.
"I've seen the things he sells in his store; they are all very practical," Zhao Guangcai explained.
"So you're saying the things he sells meet public demand well," Zhang Xiaoxiao summarized.
"Yes," Zhao Guangcai nodded.
"Does he like reading?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked curiously.
"I'm not sure," Zhao Guangcai replied calmly.
"Oh," Zhang Xiaoxiao said, disappointed.
"What about you? Do you like reading?" Zhao Guangcai countered.
"It's okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao answered.
"What kind of books do you like?" Zhao Guangcai asked with curiosity.
"I like reading ghost stories, like 'Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio,'" Zhang Xiaoxiao said excitedly.
"'Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio'?" Zhao Guangcai exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded.
"I thought it would be 'Water Cloud Pavilion,'" Zhao Guangcai said meaningfully.
"Of course not!" Zhang Xiaoxiao exclaimed, agitated.
"Really?" Zhao Guangcai questioned skeptically.
"How could I possibly like that kind of novel!" Zhang Xiaoxiao emphasized.
'Water Cloud Pavilion' was a very popular novel during this time, mainly telling the love-hate relationship between the male lead and Li Xiumei, and it could be considered a romance novel of that period.
"Alright," Zhao Guangcai said dismissively.
"Zhao Guangcai, I really don't like reading 'Water Cloud Pavilion'!" Zhang Xiaoxiao reiterated emphatically.
"Okay, I got it," Zhao Guangcai reassured her.
"Hmph!" Zhang Xiaoxiao said unhappily.
"We're home," Zhao Guangcai suddenly announced.
"Huh?" Zhang Xiaoxiao responded, confused.
"We're home," Zhao Guangcai repeated.
"Ah!" Zhang Xiaoxiao exclaimed in surprise.
"Woo woo woo..." The Wolfhounds jumped up excitedly upon seeing their owner return.
