Lu Yunting nodded slightly, took a deep breath, and opened the first page of the diary. The content of the diary was not extensive, but the words revealed his mother's deep love for him. As Lu Yunting flipped through the pages, when he reached the last page, a passage made his heart race: "…I have discovered a shocking secret. Zhao Tianyu's actions far exceed anyone's imagination. I must stop him; I cannot let him continue to do evil. To protect Yunting, I cannot tell anyone about this matter and can only record everything, hoping that one day..."
The diary abruptly ended. Lu Yunting's heart pounded violently; he had a premonition that his mother's death was definitely not an accident. This diary and that key were the keys to uncovering the truth. He picked up the key and examined it closely; it was roughly made, seemingly crafted by hand, with a vague "H" engraved on the handle.
"This key might open a certain place..." Lu Yunting murmured, hope shining in his eyes.
"'H'... what could it be?" Su Yuqing was also deep in thought.
"I've found some leads," Lin Feng said as he hurried in after finishing a phone call. "Zhao Tianyu owns an abandoned factory located on the outskirts of Starsea City. It’s very likely the place we are looking for."
"Great, let's head out immediately!" Lu Yunting decided without hesitation.
On the outskirts of Starsea City, an abandoned factory stood on desolate land, incongruous with the surrounding dilapidated scenery. The factory's main gate was tightly shut and rusted, with walls covered in ivy, resembling a sleeping giant hiding unknown secrets.
"Is this the place?" Su Yuqing looked at the eerie factory with unease.
"We'll find out once we go inside," Lu Yunting said firmly, gripping the key tightly.
Inside the factory, machines were already rusted, dust covered the floor, and a decaying smell filled the air. Lu Yunting, Su Yuqing, and Lin Feng cautiously explored, searching for any possible clues.
"Brother Ting, be careful!" Lin Feng suddenly pulled Lu Yunting aside, narrowly avoiding a bullet that shot from the shadows.
The sound of gunfire shattered the silence of the factory, signaling that they had been exposed.
"Damn it, we've been discovered!" Lu Yunting cursed under his breath, quickly drawing his pistol and returning fire alongside Lin Feng in the direction from which the bullets were coming.
"You are surrounded. Surrender quietly!" Zhao Tianyu's cold voice echoed through the factory's intercom.
"Think you can catch me? Not that easy!" Lu Yunting shot back while pulling Su Yuqing deeper into the factory. He knew he had to find evidence quickly to escape Zhao Tianyu's pursuit.
"This way!" Lu Yunting spotted a closed iron door. He pushed it hard, but it wouldn't budge.
"Let me try," Lin Feng stepped forward, pulling a dagger from his waist and skillfully working on the door lock.
With a click, the lock opened, and Lu Yunting pushed the iron door open forcefully, revealing a dimly lit room. Inside was only a table and a tape recorder, with a cassette tape lying on the table.
"Could this be..." Lu Yunting's heart raced; he had a feeling this was the crucial evidence left by his mother.
