After my dad finished speaking, Song Kang cried even harder. Tears and snot flowed together, and his expression was quite something, both crying and laughing, leaving me bewildered. What does this mean? Is it joy turning to tears? Or laughter turning to sorrow?
However, my dad's words reminded me of something. My dad, in this life, may not have much ability, but he runs a decent business. Relying on the old family fortune left by our ancestors, he has managed to do some small business. Although he hasn't struck it rich, he can at least afford to eat and drink without worry.
But my dad has a flaw; he values sons over daughters. In his worldview, a son and a daughter are two entirely different concepts. A daughter is seen as a burden, destined to marry off eventually. The family business he worked so hard to build will not be given a single penny to his daughter. The money he earns will all go to Song Kang in the future.
Thinking of this, I instinctively glanced at my mom. She had her head down, lost in thought.
"Song Kang." I walked over to him and said softly, "Stop crying; it's not a big deal."
"Now, our whole family is counting on you."
"Counting on me?" Song Kang looked at me in surprise, dazed.
I nodded and smiled, "Yes, counting on you."
"Dad just said it, right? He closed a big deal and will be back soon. In the future, when our family's business grows bigger, we will still need you."
At this point, I looked at my dad and said, "Dad, isn't that right?"
My dad was taken aback for a moment. He glanced at me and was about to speak when I immediately interrupted him.
“Dad, I know you care about Song Kang, but this matter, Song Kang can really help.”
“I heard you say earlier that the client coming later has a significant status, so we definitely can't treat them lightly.”
“Receiving clients requires careful consideration.”
“Dad, you see, my mom is a woman, so it’s definitely inconvenient for her to receive clients.”
“Why don’t we leave this matter to Grandpa?”
“Grandpa has seen and experienced much more than my mom.”
My dad furrowed his brow, seeming a bit hesitant.
I smiled and continued, “Dad, you just said the client is important, so we shouldn’t go to a small restaurant; we should go to a big hotel.”
“The food at a big hotel is something Grandpa hasn’t even seen, let alone ordered.”
“How about this: later we go to the restaurant and let Grandpa take care of our group’s meals?”
“Don’t worry, we’ll explain everything clearly to Grandpa about what can be eaten and what can’t; it will be fine.”
“What do you think?”
My dad still didn’t say anything. He looked at my mom as if asking for her opinion.
My mom shook her head: “I think Ning Ning is right; it’s fine to let Dad go.”
“Alright.”
My dad nodded and took out ten thousand yuan from his wallet, handing it to Grandpa: “Dad, take this money later and buy beef and lamb at the halal restaurant.”
“Boss Li doesn’t eat pork, so there can’t be any mistakes when we sit down at the table.”
“Rest assured.”
Grandpa took the money with a beaming smile: “My son has become successful.”
When Boss Li arrived, my dad warmly welcomed him.
"Ning Ning, go check on your grandfather and tell him to hurry up with the dishes."
I nodded and turned to walk into the kitchen.
Grandpa came over carrying several farmhouse dishes.
When my dad saw this scene, his face turned green.
He made an excuse to go to the bathroom and pulled Grandpa aside, gritting his teeth as he asked, "Dad, I asked you to buy beef and lamb, why did you buy these?"
"Beef and lamb?"
Grandpa was taken aback for a moment. "You didn't say that."
"I didn't say?"
My dad was so angry he almost laughed. He suppressed his fury: "Didn't I say it? Boss Li doesn't eat pork, what do you want me to do?"
"It's fine, don't we have beef and lamb here?"
Grandpa waved his hand dismissively and said, "I mixed them in just now; you can't tell."
"Mixed them in?"
My dad's eyes widened, seemingly unable to believe his ears.
