The nineteen surviving candidates looked at Rek with expressions of surprise and admiration. As fellow candidates, they were astonished that Rek knew so much, especially about the Dark Space and the Alien Evolution theories.
"Oh! You've even named my barrier, Dim Space. That's quite fitting. Candidate, please continue to describe the characteristics of Dim Space," Multi-Faced Man said, all three of his faces turning towards Rek, revealing a strange smile.
"Dim Space is a mental isolation barrier created by isolating the existing space with special mental energy, resulting in a subspace. In Dim Space, all negative emotions are amplified, ultimately leading beings to fall into despair and become nutrients for the Dimensional Space Barrier. The controller of Dim Space, Multi-Faced Man, also possesses the ability to choose the rules of Dim Space and can establish its existing laws. All beings within Dim Space must adhere to these rules unless they are exceptionally powerful enough to ignore the effects of Dim Space's Mental Energy; otherwise, their souls will also fall, their faces becoming spiritual nutrients for Dim Space, and their souls will remain trapped in Dim Space forever without release," Rek attempted to explain calmly.
Upon hearing Rek's words, the remaining nineteen Students felt even more hopeless. They never expected to encounter such terrifying beings from Dark Space; even in death, their souls would not find release.
"You know quite a lot. Now, please summarize the weaknesses of Dim Space," Multi-Faced Man asked Rek with interest.
"The only weakness of Dim Space is also the rule-making ability possessed by Multi-Faced Man. As the one who establishes the rules, once Dim Space is activated, the established rules cannot be changed during that instance. Multi-Faced Man's own body is also restricted by these rules," Rek replied.
"Very good. You know so much; it seems I cannot allow you to continue living. You will all become my nourishment. Now continue to describe the environment and biological characteristics of Dark Space, categorizing its existing life forms," Multi-Faced Man said as he looked at Rek.
"Dark Space has an environment that is several times harsher than Main Dimension Earth. The primary air consists of gases that are toxic to humans. To survive in Dark Space, beings from the Main Plane must wear air purification devices. Dark Space has high radiation levels; humans from the Main Plane cannot be exposed to Dark Space for extended periods without protection; otherwise, their cellular structure will undergo mutations.
The existing Alien Species in Dark Space can be categorized based on their threat levels into several groups. The first group consists of Mutant Beasts that are currently active in Dark Space. Mutant Beasts have tough skin and strong aggression but pose relatively little threat compared to Main Space. The second group includes Alien Species that are mostly in a dormant state due to recent changes in Dark Space's magnetic field; many of these Alien Species have not fully awakened yet, but some evolved Alien Species have completed four stages of evolution and gained basic intelligence.
The third group of Alien Species is known as Eerie Species, which refers to special Alien Species unique to Dark Space. For example, you, Multi-Faced Man, belong to this third group because you possess a humanoid body and a special mental barrier—Dim Space. Eerie Species are considered the most dangerous type of Alien Species in Dark Space for beings from the Main Plane," Rek explained.
After listening to Rek's words, Multi-Faced Man's six mouths began to open and close as eyes sprouted from within them.
"I didn't expect that the Main Plane already has such a deep understanding of the Dark Space. Now that the first round of questions for the exam is over, we will begin the second round. To survive, you must kill two creatures within ten minutes," said the Multi-Faced Man.
After the Multi-Faced Man finished speaking, a large eyeball immediately flew towards Rek.
At that moment, Rek was on guard against the Multi-Faced Man's sneak attack. Knowing how cunning he was, Rek quickly rolled onto the ground.
The eyeball hit a Student behind Rek, who was sucked into the eyeball, and his face reappeared on the blackboard.
A large mouth suddenly appeared next to Rek, who was rolling on the ground. Rek quickly grabbed a chair beside him and thrust it into the large mouth.
After the chair leg was consumed by the mouth, it did not disappear; instead, the mouth chased after Rek.
Although Rek's body was in severe pain, he quickly got up and took out a small knife he had used while walking at night. With two swift cuts, Rek chose not to attack the Multi-Faced Man's large mouth but instead stabbed two Students—a male and a female—standing nearby in their chests.
Blood flowed from the hearts of the two surprised Students as they fell to the ground, their bodies being absorbed, with their shocked faces appearing beneath Rek's feet.
The large mouth stopped chasing Rek and instead swallowed another Student nearby before coming to a halt.
"Multi-Faced Man, you didn't mention that after killing two creatures, those who survive will be in a safe period for ten minutes and cannot be attacked," Rek slowly stood up and said to the Multi-Faced Man, completely ignoring the angry Students beside him.
"How can you attack your classmates? How can you attack fellow humans, Students, instead of fighting against Alien Species? I thought you understood Alien Species and Dark Space well enough to defeat the Multi-Faced Man," a Male Student questioned Rek.
"The reason is simple: to survive. If you don't attack your classmates, it's fine. However, in the next nine minutes, at most five out of the fifteen surviving students will make it. Ask them if they would attack you."
By the way, I advise you not to take action against me and the Multi-Faced Man right now. We have just completed the second exam item and have already killed two creatures, placing us in a protected period. If you attack us, your bodies will be immediately absorbed by the Dim Space, and your faces will appear on the blackboard at the podium," Rek said calmly. Having witnessed too much death in the future, Rek was indifferent to having just killed two students. Moreover, in Dim Space, these inexperienced students were likely doomed; it was merely a matter of whether they would die sooner or later.
Upon hearing Rek's words, the fifteen surviving candidates fell silent, cautiously eyeing each other. One female student, terrified, collapsed to the ground. Her movement triggered a chain reaction among the surrounding candidates, who began attacking one another. Armed with sharp markers, they aimed for their classmates' eyes, while others wielded utility knives to slash at their opponents' throats.
In an instant, the candidates who had previously huddled together turned into deadly enemies. Some fell to the ground, pierced through the eyes by pens and ultimately crushed by benches, while others swung chairs wildly at nearby students.
"Feel the anger! Embrace the fear! Original sin belongs to all living beings!" the Multi-Faced Man whispered.
The countdown timer began ringing in the classroom: ten, nine, eight, seven. Aside from Rek, three and a half people remained alive; two of them had successfully killed two classmates during the chaos. One individual had only managed to kill one classmate before realizing that aside from those who had completed their tasks, there were no other survivors. With sorrowful eyes, he looked towards Rek and the others before raising a chair and throwing it towards the window. He wanted to jump out and escape this space.
