Time passed second by second, and in the silent hall, only the sound of Old Madam turning her prayer beads could be heard. 0

Being from a different era, how could Mo Xier endure such kneeling? Just ten minutes made her feel unbearable agony, her knees aching intensely. 0

She quietly glanced up at the man standing beside her; his indifferent demeanor was evident, not even sparing her an extra glance! 0

He truly was a blockhead! Not a shred of compassion for a delicate woman! 0

Muttering to herself, she kept an eye on Old Madam's movements, subtly shifting her knees in hopes of finding some comfort. 0

Old Madam, who had originally closed her eyes, suddenly opened them, her gaze filled with fierce hostility. Mo Xier froze and stopped all movements. 0

"Truly uncultured; how long have you been kneeling? No matter how beautiful you are, what good is it? You're just a flower pillow stuffed with straw!" 0

Mo Xier initially wanted to let it go since the one in authority was an old lady. However, what she hated most was being called lacking in substance! 0

Before she crossed over, she was a top student in traditional Chinese medicine; who didn't praise her as a genius? Now this old woman dared to say such things about her! 0

"Old Madam, I see you're not doing too badly yourself; almost forty yet still so stunningly beautiful." Her smile was sweet, but it carried a sting that pricked Old Madam's heart uncomfortably. 0

As soon as the words left her mouth, even Night Star, who had maintained a stoic expression, turned to glance at the woman kneeling on the ground. 0

This woman seemed to harbor endless secrets within her small frame, surprising him every time. 0

Looking at Old Madam's increasingly unpleasant face, Mo Xier felt a surge of pride. Meeting Night Star's gaze, she playfully threw him a flirtatious glance that she thought was charming. 0

Unexpectedly, she received nothing but indifference from the man. She instantly stiffened and mischievously sniffed her nose. 0

Her grip on the prayer beads tightened further; no one had ever dared to defy her like this! Especially not some unknown wild girl! Where was she supposed to put her face? 0

With a gaze as sharp as a knife, she shot straight at Night Star and declared, "Look at the woman you've brought back; I absolutely will not allow such a woman to stay in the General's residence!" 0

"It sounds like anyone would want to stay here! If it weren't for your son clinging to me, I wouldn't bother wasting another word with you, old lady!" 0

Angered, Mo Xier stood up instead of remaining kneeling and launched into a tirade against the old woman. Her aura instantly expanded, and when she locked eyes with Old Madam, her imposing presence was not diminished at all! 0

"Get out! You get out!" The prayer beads snapped apart, scattering across the floor. Old Madam glared with wide eyes, supporting herself on the table as she roared like a beast. 0

"I have legs and can walk; I just didn't expect that the General's Old Madam would have such low quality!" 0

Her eyes darkened, and her previously playful demeanor shifted. At that moment, Mo Xier seemed even more powerful, as if another version of herself resided within her. 0

"You! You!" 0

"Old Madam, you can't even speak clearly? I'm truly puzzled how someone like you manages a General's residence; it's simply laughable!" 0

Her witty remarks made Night Star unable to help but glance sideways, his gaze lingering on the small woman's radiant cheeks, resembling stars in the night sky—unmistakably brilliant and dazzling. 0

Her lips curled slightly, revealing a charming smile, and her eyes held a hint of mischief. 0

Suddenly, Night Star's gaze deepened as he quickly moved to her side, pulling her behind him with a firm grip. He spoke loudly, "Mother, you have met her. As for whether she stays or goes, that is my decision. I ask for your permission to act recklessly just this once." 0

His hand gripped hers tightly, leaving no room for struggle, but inside she felt immense dissatisfaction; this man was simply inexplicable! 0

"Night Star!" Old Madam called him by his full name, indicating her anger. 0

He pretended not to hear and stubbornly stood in front of her with a cold expression. 0

Mo Xier's gaze suddenly fell on the strands of hair hanging in front of her chest. She realized that her hair had begun to turn white without her noticing. At this rate, it wouldn't be long before it was all white! 0

In a moment of panic, she instinctively grasped the hem of the man's clothing. At that moment, she chose to rely on the strongest person in front of her. 0

"What should I do about my hair?" She leaned closer to him and whispered, glancing around nervously to avoid being seen. 0

Night Star shielded her, preventing Old Madam from getting any closer. Without saying more, he swiftly turned and led her away from the hall. 0

As a gentle breeze passed by, a strand of White Hair fell into Old Madam's line of sight, causing her eyes to narrow instantly. 0

Surprised, she stood up, unable to believe what she had just seen. White Hair? How could it suddenly change from black to White Hair? 0

It wasn't until their figures disappeared that she slowly sank back down, her eyes filled with contemplation. 0

The two of them took the less traveled paths, avoiding others as much as possible. Mo Xier did not want her uniqueness to be exposed to anyone, while Night Star had his own thoughts. 0

From a brisk walk at the beginning to a light jog by the end, Mo Xier finally returned to the courtyard, panting heavily. In contrast, Night Star seemed completely unfazed, as if nothing had happened. 0

"That's so unfair! Having long legs really is impressive; you don't even get out of breath when walking!" 0

"If you have time to tease me, you might as well worry about your hair," he said, glancing at her head full of White Hair. 0

Unlike his black hair, Mo Xier looked youthful with her white hair, creating an extreme sense of incongruity, like a flower blooming at night, exuding a deadly allure! 0

"This isn't the place for talking; let's go inside," he said, pulling her wrist and leading her into the house. 0

Though they had only spent three days together, they had already grown accustomed to such contact without any awkwardness. 0

Frustrated, she tugged at her hair, worrying about how she would face others if this continued. It changed so suddenly without even a word of greeting! 0

The once strong Mo Xier had vanished, leaving behind this deeply troubled woman, as if the previous version was merely an illusion. 0

But Night Star could see clearly that there seemed to be another person hidden within Mo Xier's body, which piqued his curiosity and made him want to explore further. 0

"Hey, Woodhead, what do you think is going on with my hair?" 0

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" 0

The woman furrowed her delicate brows, looking utterly perplexed as she pouted and muttered, "How would I know? I've only just arrived here!" 0

"What? Arrived? Where did you come from?" He keenly caught the hint in her words. No matter how he looked at it, Mo Xier didn't seem as simple as she appeared. 0

Suddenly covering her mouth, she was startled; indeed, something was off in her head! How could she have said something like that! 0

Mo Xier reacted quickly, shifting her thoughts and casually replied, "Of course I came here. Where else could I go?" Her eyes darted around before she changed the subject. "Hey, with all this White Hair, how am I supposed to go out and meet people?" 0

Night Star could see that she was hiding something. His gaze darkened slightly, but he didn't expose her. "What were you thinking when you were arguing with my mother just now?" 0

"What could I think? I just couldn't stand that old woman's arrogance!" Glancing at the man beside her, she sighed, "At first, I thought you two didn't look alike at all, but now it seems you really do share some terrifying similarities!" 0

At this point, she suddenly stopped. She had always felt that the atmosphere between Night Star and Old Madam was a bit strange, but it wasn't until just now that she truly realized their interaction didn't resemble that of a mother and son at all! 0

There wasn't even the most basic normal communication between them. Could there really be a mother and son like this in the world? Stealing a glance, she quietly asked, "You and that old woman aren't actually biological mother and son, are you?" 0

Night Star didn't answer; he remained silent. 0

She gasped in surprise, her eyes wide with astonishment as she suddenly stood up. "You really aren't mother and son! This is unbelievable!" 0

He raised his hand and gave her a light smack on the head. "What nonsense are you thinking about all day? I'm the young master of the General's residence; of course Old Madam is my mother!" 0

"Then why didn't you answer me! You scared me." Slowly sitting back down, she dramatically patted her chest. "But it's not easy for a mother and son to reach this point." 0

After a moment of silence, Night Star looked up again and noticed the change in her hair; it had transformed from white back to black! What she initially thought was a difficult problem had suddenly resolved itself, and she didn't even need to think of a solution. 0

However, the issue of her hair changing colors remained. While it was good that it could revert today, what if one day it couldn't? 0

"Oh my, it's back again!" Not only was Night Star surprised, but Mo Xier herself was astonished as she flipped her hair back and forth, finding it simply magical! 0

There was also something she kept to herself; at that moment, Mo Xier felt like a chameleon, able to change her hair color at will! 0

"Think carefully about what you were feeling at that time!" 0

Night Star had been watching her hair change color without any external influence, which suggested it might be due to something within herself. 0

She remained silent for a long time, pondering. At that moment, she could clearly feel the anger within her heart, as if another version of herself was trying to break free. 0

Suddenly, an idea struck Mo Xier's mind: could it be the previous owner of this body? Was her soul still within this shell? 0

A chill ran down her spine as a gust of cold wind passed by, causing her to hug herself tightly. Yet this thought was something she could only keep to herself; how could she possibly mention the concept of reincarnation in front of Night Star? 0

Slowly shaking her head, she ultimately chose to conceal the truth. "I don't know; I just feel like there's nothing different than usual. Could it be that my hair changes because of my emotions?" 0

"Remember to pay attention to your hair changes in the future. You must not reveal them in front of others; otherwise, it could lead to fatal consequences!" 0
