Suppressing the anger within her, she smiled faintly, sat down on the ground, and picked up a brush to begin copying slowly. Having never used a brush to write before, what she produced was naturally crooked and ugly, resembling a curled-up caterpillar. 0

All of this fell into the eyes of Rong Mama nearby, whose mocking smile grew wider as she softly said, "Indeed, she's not one of the young ladies from our circle; her writing is simply unbearable to look at." 0

With a light snort, she turned her head away and stopped looking. 0

Mo Xier didn’t even know what she was copying; she just followed along as best as she could. As time passed while copying, her heart gradually calmed down. 0

The heavy scent of Musk almost made it hard for her to breathe. After only half an hour, beads of sweat began to slide down her forehead. 0

Biting her lower lip, Mo Xier glanced at Rong Mama and finally hesitated to speak, "Could you please open the window for me?" 0

"Miss, there has never been such a rule in Buddha Hall. I advise you to refrain from having any inappropriate thoughts and focus on your scriptures," came the reply. 0

Being refused was nothing unusual, but it made Mo Xier feel quite indignant! 0

Pouting slightly, she continued to write but no longer felt the previous calmness. The strong Musk scent filled her nostrils, making her head feel heavy. 0

Her hand holding the brush began to tremble uncontrollably. Suddenly, she thought: Could this strong Musk be meant to cover something up? 0

Logically speaking, Musk should not cause fluctuations in one's mood or symptoms like dizziness. Yet here she was, feeling quite out of sorts! 0

She gently closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her emotions; however, it proved to be of no use. 0

She gripped the pen tightly, and with a sudden crack, the pen broke in her hand! 0

Staring blankly at the broken pen on the paper, she felt a wave of confusion wash over her. In her panic, she instinctively looked down at her hair, clearly sensing the anger brewing inside her. 0

Sure enough! Her earlier suspicion was correct! Starting from her strands of hair, it was slowly turning white! 0

"What is wrong with you!" A furious shout exploded in her ears. 0

Meeting Rong Mama's gaze, she quickly stood up, knocking over the table in front of her without realizing it. A loud commotion followed as the door swung open. 0

Old Madam stood at the doorway, as if she had been waiting for a long time, her sharp eyes fixed on everything before her. 0

A blinding white light suddenly flooded in, piercing like a sharp knife into her heart. She instinctively recoiled, her gradually whitening hair glaringly obvious in the sunlight. 0

Noticing her own transformation, she didn't even have time to speak. Like a panicked cat, she dashed out of Buddha Hall. 0

This obvious change was clearly seen by Old Madam and Rong Mama this time! There was no longer any doubt! 0

Watching the figure disappear in a flurry, Jiang Yu's body trembled uncontrollably. If it weren't for Rong Mama supporting her at that moment, she would have likely collapsed to the ground. 0

"Did you see clearly? Just now... white! It was actually white hair!" Her voice trembled uncontrollably, as if she couldn't contain herself. 0

"I saw it clearly, Old Madam. You did not see wrong; it is indeed white." 0

Her hand gripping the prayer beads tightened continuously, almost crushing them. "Wretched thing! Wretched thing!" 0

Old Madam was furious, gripping Rong Mama's hand tightly, unable to control her strength. 0

Mo Xier, having fled back to the courtyard, seemed as if she had lost her soul, her white hair flying in the sunlight with a shimmering hue. 0

Unbeknownst to her, a crowd had gathered in the courtyard, all staring in shock at her sudden intrusion, halting their actions. 0

"Get away! Everyone get away!" Mo Xier shouted in chaos, charging into her room like a cornered beast. 0

She slammed the door shut, but the looks from those people flashed before her eyes—disdainful gazes that nearly drove her to the brink of collapse! 0

She had never been looked at like a monster before. For some reason, she could face Night Star calmly, but when it came to others, she lacked the courage to confront them. 0

Crouching by the door, Mo Xier wrapped her arms around her chest and buried her head deep between her knees, tears falling silently. She didn't know what having white hair meant, but she understood that if she were to live with white hair in the future, she would never be able to live like an ordinary person. 0

From the moment she first met Night Star's gaze, she understood this deeply. And that man had unknowingly become her support. 0

She could complain, act spoiled, and even be vulnerable in front of him. Now that he was gone, she didn't know what to do. 0

"Miss, are you alright?" Ru Er's panicked voice came from outside the door. After hearing no response from within, she began to knock on the doorframe. 0

"I'm fine! Don't come in!" Mo Xier shouted loudly to stop Ru Er from continuing to knock. "Tell them all to disperse! No one is allowed to step into the courtyard!" 0

Mo Xier's voice sounded somewhat hoarse. Ru Er took a few steps back and trembled as she agreed. 0

However, this silence did not last long; Old Madam's people arrived and blocked the entrance of the courtyard, preventing anyone from leaving. 0

In the Heavenly Universe Kingdom, there is no one who does not know the legend of the White-Haired Witch, yet encountering her is a rare event that happens once in a century. No one expected that such a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence would happen right beside them. 0

"Old Madam said to keep this courtyard well guarded; no one is allowed to enter or exit. Make sure to keep an eye on everything! If anything happens, just wait and see how I handle it!" Rong Mama stood at the entrance of the courtyard, instructing the servants to do their jobs properly. 0

When Night Star returned after circling around outside, he sensed the tense atmosphere within the estate. Realizing something was off, he quickened his pace but was stopped in his tracks by someone. 0

The young servant looked at him with fear, unwilling to make eye contact. "Young Master, Old Madam wants you to go to the ancestral hall immediately; she said she has something to discuss with you." 0

Furrowing his brow, he asked in a low voice, "What happened in the estate? Why is the atmosphere so tense?" 0

Avoiding the man's gaze, the young servant stammered but could not articulate what was wrong. 0

"Enough, you don't need to say more." After saying this, he strode toward the ancestral hall. Although he had never entered it since he became aware of things, he was very familiar with the path to the hall and could walk it even with his eyes closed. 0

As he walked, countless possibilities ran through his mind. When the last thought emerged, he paused, hoping that reality would not match his fears. 0

The surroundings were silent and empty; only Old Madam knelt in the ancestral hall, occasionally muttering something as she bowed before the ancestral tablets. 0

This scene was not unfamiliar to him; he had often seen Old Madam do this when he was very young. 0

As he approached the entrance of the ancestral hall, he stopped just like when he was a child, standing at the door silently and watching Old Madam finish her rituals. 0

Hearing footsteps, Jiang Yu did not turn around but shouted loudly, "Wretched child! Why aren't you kneeling down quickly?" 0

Obediently kneeling down, Night Star's voice was heavy and calm, even somewhat indifferent. "What could have upset Mother so much?" 0

Old Madam slowly stood up, walked to his side, and raised her hand to slap him. The sound was crisp, and the man's face was even turned aside from the impact, yet he remained silent. 0

"You ungrateful wretch! How could you bring such a woman home! What do you want to do?" 0

Night Star slowly turned his head but did not speak. 0

Old Madam was thoroughly enraged. "I command you, get her out of the General's residence immediately! I will never allow such a monster to remain here!" 0

"I'm sorry, Mother, I can't do that." 0

"What?" In disbelief at what she had just heard, Old Madam's shout seemed to erupt from her throat. "You can't do it? Night Star! Do you still see me as your mother?" 0

Of course he did! If he didn't, why would he long for his mother's care every time he awoke from a midnight dream? 0

But these words he could not say; they could only be buried deep in his heart as an eternal secret. 0

The mother and son remained silent for a long time, neither moving. Time seemed to stand still at that moment. 0

"Ha ha, so this is what they call raising children for old age! I never expected that I, Jiang Yu, would raise such a rebellious son!" Old Madam kicked Night Star aside without any consideration of strength. 0

"Since you are unwilling, then I will help you! I will absolutely not allow this monster to stay in the General's residence and tarnish its reputation!" 0

Old Madam left in a huff, and Night Star had no intention of staying any longer. He quickly took a shortcut back to his own courtyard. 0

The courtyard was filled with guards who stared intently at it. Just as they were about to enter, they were stopped by the guards. 0

"Young Master, Old Madam has given orders that even you are not allowed to enter. Please do not make it difficult for the servants." 0

Night Star remained silent, but a single glance with his fierce eyes made the guard involuntarily take a few steps back. 0

Rong Mama, however, was undeterred and stepped forward to block the guard's path. "Oh, Young Master, you must listen to Old Madam. The Demoness inside could come out at any moment to kill. You must not let anyone deceive your mind!" 0

Rong Mama spoke with such seriousness that the guards nearby felt an inexplicable fear of the woman inside. 0

"This is the General's residence; when did it become your place to speak to me like this?" 0

Rong Mama was taken aback but refused to back down. "Yes, yes, I am just a servant, but I cannot disregard Old Madam's orders. 0

They say even a dog will bark when its master is in danger; I cannot be worse than a dog. Young Master, what do you say?" 0

Such veiled insults were not lost on Night Star. Was she implying that he did not appreciate his mother's kindness? His hand at his side gradually tightened as he struggled to suppress his anger and said in a low voice, "Step aside!" 0

As soon as he finished speaking, Old Madam, who had just arrived, loudly interrupted, "I want to see who dares to step aside today!" 0

In an instant, the atmosphere between mother and son became exceptionally tense! 0
