I have been married to Lu Jingtian for six years. He has always been talented but underappreciated, and I have never left his side. Now, he has finally found his moment to shine, showcasing his new work "Muse" at an art exhibition and making a triumphant return to the top. His paintings have been sold out, except for "Muse," which he refuses to sell. In front of reporters, he gently declares, "The girl in the painting is my one true love." The reporters applaud, but I smile bitterly because he has never looked at me with such affection.
On our wedding anniversary, I received his divorce agreement. The document clearly stated that he would leave with nothing, and all assets would belong to me. I called him, and his tone was indifferent: "Is there something?"
"Your asset division is incorrect. You earned at least forty million from that exhibition before the divorce."
"Oh, then I'll draft a new agreement for you." His voice was devoid of warmth: "Is there anything else?"
"Nothing more," I replied lightly. "I just didn't expect that we would end up here one day."
"You married me because you were after my money, right?"
"Yes." I chuckled softly: "Money is more reliable than people."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and after a long while, he finally spoke:
"Don't worry, I will give you enough money to ensure that you will never have to worry about food and clothing for the rest of your life."
"Then thank you, Mr. Lu."
I said calmly, "From now on, we are severing all ties."
Four months ago, on Valentine's Day, it was my sixth wedding anniversary with Lu Jingtian.
I had specially reserved a restaurant in advance and bought gifts to prepare a surprise for him.
But I never expected he would give me a shock instead.
As I walked out of the restaurant, I raised my eyes and saw a couple embracing and kissing in the snow.
The man was tall and handsome, while the woman was young and beautiful with a slender figure.
They kissed passionately, completely unaware of my approach.
" Tian, I've missed you," the girl said, wearing a pink down jacket and sporting a bun hairstyle, looking pure and adorable.
She jumped into the man's arms, gazing up at him with eyes full of joy.
"There are so many boys at school chasing me, but I don't like any of them."
"My heart only belongs to my Tian."
She stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around the man's neck, and offered her red lips.
The man leaned down to kiss her; they were lost in each other as if they wanted to stay there forever.
I took a deep breath and slowly walked over.
Noticing someone approaching, the man instinctively shielded the girl behind him, his face filled with tension as he stared at me.
I looked up at him; he was also looking at me with a complicated expression.
The girl peeked out from behind Lu Jingtian and blinked her eyes, asking:
" Tian, who is she?"
"I am..."
I had just begun to speak when Lu Jingtian interrupted me.
"Li Ying, what are you doing here?"
The girl widened her eyes, her expression filled with panic.
"Li Ying? You... you are Tian's wife?"
She clutched Lu Jingtian's clothing tightly, her face full of guilt.
"I'm sorry, I... I didn't mean to..."
She bit her lip, as if summoning great courage.
"Don't blame Tian; it was my initiative. If you want to blame someone, blame me."
"Sasha, you don't need to apologize to her."
Lu Jingtian held Meng Shasha's hand and looked steadily at me.
"Li Ying, since you've already found out, I won't hide it anymore."
"Let's get a divorce."
Meng Shasha's eyes lit up for a moment before dimming again.
" Tian, that wouldn't be good."
"After all, she is your wife."
Lu Jingtian snorted coldly.
"Husband and wife are like birds of the same forest; when disaster strikes, they fly their separate ways."
"Sasha, I won't abandon you."
After saying this, he took Meng Shasha's hand and turned to leave.
I watched their figures fade away, my eyes gradually turning red.
He didn't look back, his steps unwavering.
I silently turned around and walked step by step toward home.
