In the moment Qi Lan turned to leave, Lu Chen quickly chased after her. The dense branches brushed against his arms, but he paid no mind, focusing intently on the slender figure ahead.
“Qi Lan,” he called out, a hint of urgency in his voice, “please wait a moment.”
Qi Lan stopped but did not turn around. With her back to Lu Chen, she spoke in a calm tone, “Is there something else? Lu Yingdi.”
“I just…” Lu Chen paused to gather his thoughts, “I just wanted to say that you are very special, different from what I imagined.”
Qi Lan let out a light laugh and turned to face Lu Chen, her eyes clear as she looked at him. “Different? In what way? Am I better at acting than those stars, or do I understand how to disguise myself better?”
The sharpness in her gaze stung Lu Chen, causing him to frown slightly. “That’s not what I meant. I just feel…”
“You just feel that I’m like a puzzle, right?” Qi Lan interjected, a hint of self-mockery in her tone. “You want to solve this puzzle and find out what kind of person I really am.”
Lu Chen did not deny it; he looked at Qi Lan sincerely and said, “I’m just curious about you and admire your ability to survive in this forest. I hope we can become friends.”
“Friends?” Qi Lan raised an eyebrow, as if she had heard a funny joke. “Lu Yingdi, are you joking with me? How could we possibly become friends?”
She did not give Lu Chen another chance to speak and turned back to continue deeper into the forest.
“Qi Lan, what are you really afraid of?” Lu Chen asked softly, watching her retreating figure, filled with confusion and concern.
Qi Lan did not answer; her footsteps did not falter as she quickly disappeared into the dense thicket.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in the city, Yu Mengmeng was experiencing the darkest moment of her life.
"Terminate the contract! We must terminate the contract!" The president of the agency slammed a document on the table in anger. "This Yu Mengmeng is simply a ticking time bomb; we can't let her ruin the company's reputation any further!"
"But, President Wang, Mengmeng..." The agent tried to defend Yu Mengmeng, but was rudely interrupted by President Wang.
"Don't mention her to me again! Just seeing her makes me sick!" President Wang shouted, pointing at the door. "Get her out of here immediately; I don't want to see her again!"

Qi Lan looked up to meet his tender gaze, a happy smile curling at the corners of her mouth.
"Welcome home."
As the sun set in the west, golden sunlight bathed the two of them, creating a warm and beautiful scene.
They had distanced themselves from the hustle and bustle of the city, escaping the deceit of the entertainment industry, and in this tranquil forest, they found their own happiness and belonging.
