That night, Li Ye and Wang Meng returned to the Azure Flower Pavilion, pretending to seek pleasure while actually trying to attract attention. As they entered, the welcoming girl was still enthusiastic and led them to a private room. Meanwhile, Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo quietly circled to the back courtyard of the Azure Flower Pavilion, preparing to infiltrate the interior under the cover of the Shadow Reaper and two Low-Level Zombies.
The Shadow Reaper carefully guarded the two women as they skillfully climbed over the courtyard wall, avoiding the patrolling Guardians. Inside the private room, Specter hid in the shadows, ready to act at any moment.
After Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo infiltrated the Azure Flower Pavilion, they quickly moved through the corridors in search of clues to summon the Soul Devourer. However, the defenses within the Azure Flower Pavilion were exceptionally tight, and the two women were soon discovered by several Guardians. The Guardians raised an alarm, and more Guardians rushed in, surrounding the two women.
The Shadow Reaper quickly charged forward, wielding her blade to protect the two women. The Low-Level Zombies followed suit, engaging in fierce combat with the Guardians. The Shadow Reaper's movements were swift and fierce, each strike carrying deadly force. However, outnumbered by the skilled Guardians, she and the Low-Level Zombies gradually found themselves at a disadvantage.
As the frequency of the Shadow Reaper's attacks slowed down, her movements became increasingly labored. Just then, a burly man wielding a heavy hammer suddenly burst from the crowd and swung his hammer down violently at the Shadow Reaper. Caught off guard, she was struck in the chest by the hammer, and the sound of her bones shattering was chilling. She spat out a mouthful of black blood and was sent flying backward, crashing heavily to the ground.
At that moment, both Low-Level Zombies were also besieged by Guardians, swords raining down upon them. The Low-Level Zombies fought back fiercely but ultimately could not withstand the overwhelming number of Guardians. Their limbs were severed, their bodies torn apart, and they fell into a pool of blood, unable to move.
Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo watched in despair and anger as the Shadow Reaper and Low-Level Zombies were killed. They fought back with all their might but were ultimately overwhelmed by the Guardians.
Inside the private room, Li Ye suddenly sensed the death of the Shadow Reaper. He immediately stood up and signaled to Specter: "Something has happened; we need to head to the back courtyard!"
Specter acted swiftly as Li Ye and Wang Meng followed closely behind. They rushed out of the private room toward the back courtyard. However, when they arrived, it was already too late. The bodies of the Shadow Reaper and two Low-Level Zombies lay sprawled on the ground in a gruesome state.
At that moment, a graceful woman slowly walked out. Dressed in a luxurious gown with stunning beauty and an air of cold elegance about her features, she was Liu Fei, the top courtesan of Azure Flower Pavilion. Liu Fei's gaze held a hint of cruelty and mockery as she was followed by Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo, who were under drug control with vacant eyes obediently trailing behind her.
Liu Fei sneered and said: "Gentlemen, why are you sneaking around my back courtyard instead of enjoying yourselves with the ladies in your private room? Do you have some special preference? Or are these two little girls not pleasing enough for you? You should thank me; I gave them something nice to eat so they can do anything now~"
Li Ye's eyes blazed with fury as he clenched his fists and said sternly: "Liu Fei, I will never let you go!"
Liu Fei scoffed, "Oh my, you really scared me. But can you bear to harm your companions?"
Li Ye knew the situation was critical and he had to remain calm. He took a deep breath and coldly said, "Specter, prepare for battle!"
The Guardians surrounded Li Ye and his group, while Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo approached him with blank expressions. Yan Yuchen's eyes were hollow, but she raised her longsword and struck at Li Ye with lethal precision, closely followed by Zhiruo. Although Zhiruo was a Herbalist and not particularly skilled in combat, she had her own way of fighting, coordinating with Yan Yuchen to attack Li Ye.
Yan Yuchen's swordsmanship was fierce; each strike carried a deadly momentum, forcing Li Ye to dodge continuously. He realized that both Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo were completely under Liu Fei's drug control and unable to act on their own. With every swing of Yan Yuchen's blade, Li Ye could feel her power and speed—something she had never shown in battle before.
As he dodged, Li Ye searched for an opportunity to break their control. Specter watched anxiously from the side but couldn't intervene. Every movement she made was closely monitored by Liu Fei's Guardians; any action on her part would provoke an immediate attack.
Zhiruo held a vial, constantly splashing various toxins and anesthetic powders at Li Ye. These powders would cause paralysis or even death upon contact with skin. Li Ye had to keep evading, but he still felt the numbing sensation from several near misses.
"Yan Yuchen, Zhiruo, wake up! You can't do this!" Li Ye shouted as he dodged, trying to rouse their consciousness. However, their attacks remained relentless without any pause.
Yan Yuchen's blade came close again, and Li Ye barely managed to evade it; the edge grazed his shoulder, leaving a bloody mark. Seizing the moment, Zhiruo threw a vial of poison at him. Li Ye rolled away just in time, but the liquid splattered on the ground with a hissing corrosive sound.
Anger and pain intertwined within Li Ye; he knew this couldn't continue. If it did, not only would he be seriously injured, but Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo would also fall into deeper danger. Suddenly, an idea struck him—he decided to take a risk.
"Specter, now!" Li Ye shouted.
Specter instantly understood his intent. She swiftly moved behind Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo and struck them on the back of their necks with incredible speed. Both collapsed to the ground, unconscious. Seeing this, the Guardians rushed toward Li Ye and Specter in an attempt to capture them both.
Li Ye and Specter fought side by side, quickly countering the Guardians' attacks. Li Ye picked up Yan Yuchen's longsword; although his swordsmanship wasn't as fierce as hers, each strike carried a lethal intent. Specter's movements were ghostly quick as her sharp claws tore through the ranks of the Guardians. However, outnumbered by the Guardians, Li Ye and Specter's attacks began to falter.
Liu Fei watched coldly, a hint of a sneer on her face. She knew that as long as she delayed, her plan would succeed. Li Ye and Specter were brave, but facing the relentless onslaught of the Guardians, they gradually found themselves overwhelmed.
At that moment, Liu Fei suddenly let out a sharp laugh: "Li Ye, do you really think you can save your companions like this? You are too naive!"
Before her words faded, Liu Fei unleashed a strange spell, and the air was thick with ominous energy. Li Ye and Specter felt a powerful pressure, causing their movements to slow down instantly.
Li Ye knew time was of the essence; he had to find a solution quickly. He looked at Specter and said firmly, "We must join forces and defeat her in one go!"
Specter nodded, and the two launched a fierce attack aimed directly at Liu Fei. However, Liu Fei's magic was exceptionally strong; her figure flickered unpredictably, making it difficult for Li Ye and Specter's attacks to land.
Just then, Li Ye suddenly felt an intense sense of danger. He quickly turned around and saw a massive Soul Devourer emerging from the shadows, viciously lunging at them. The Soul Devourer was terrifying in appearance, with a huge body, eight pairs of sharp claws, and menacing fangs, its eyes glowing with a sinister red light.
Li Ye and Specter were forced to retreat repeatedly as the Soul Devourer's attacks were ferocious, each strike carrying immense power. The clash between Li Ye's sword and the Soul Devourer's claws produced deafening sounds. Specter's claws also left marks on the Soul Devourer's body, but it seemed unfazed and continued its frenzied assault.

He and Specter fought with all their might in a thrilling life-and-death struggle against the Soul Devourer.
