Wei Chenghao finally arrived outside Qingyang City. He was one of Liu Zhang's most trusted subordinates, meticulous and calm. At this moment, he disguised himself as a merchant, preparing to infiltrate the city for investigation. Dressed in coarse clothing and carrying a heavy bundle, he looked weary and indistinguishable from an ordinary merchant.
Once inside the city, Wei Chenghao began to observe his surroundings. He noticed that although the city appeared calm, the atmosphere was somewhat tense, and the guards at the city gate were much more vigilant than usual. Shen Jiuniang's face was shadowed by candlelight as she whispered, "Lord Wei, you have finally arrived."
Wei Chenghao nodded and lowered his voice to ask, "Shen Jiuniang, what exactly has happened here?"
Shen Jiuniang began to detail everything she had witnessed. She described the standoff on the city tower, where Iron Beast turned against Gao Zhendong and Liu Fei provided evidence that completely undermined Gao Zhendong's support among the people. Wei Chenghao listened intently, occasionally asking questions.
"Are you sure Liu Fei has truly betrayed us?" A glint of coldness flashed in Wei Chenghao's eyes.
Shen Jiuniang nodded. "Yes, Lord Wei, I saw her conspiring with Zhang Tianba with my own eyes. She has completely betrayed Lord Liu Zhang."
Wei Chenghao pondered for a moment before continuing to inquire, "I heard there is someone named Li Ye? What about Li Ye and his group? What are they doing now?"
"Li Ye and his companions are assisting Zhang Tianba in fortifying the city's defenses; their abilities should not be underestimated. Especially Li Ye; he seems to possess some kind of special power," Shen Jiuniang replied.
Wei Chenghao frowned slightly. "Special power? Can you describe it in detail?"

He observed closely and found that Li Ye and others were indeed helping Zhang Tianba solidify the city's defenses while also planning larger actions. A few days later, Wei Chenghao led a large army to surround Qingyang City completely; tension filled the air within the city. Zhang Tianba stood on the city wall with his generals, holding an imperial edict as he confronted Wei Chenghao.
Wei Chenghao shouted outside the city, "Zhang Tianba, do you still want to threaten me with the imperial decree I obtained for you? You have repeatedly obstructed my lord Liu Zhang's plans and even killed Gao Zhendong. Today is your day of reckoning!"
Zhang Tianba's expression changed. "Wei Chenghao, the innocent citizens in the city will suffer because of your actions!"
Wei Chenghao's gaze turned cold. "Citizens? Who cares about their lives in this city?" He gestured, and his subordinates threw a letter towards the city wall.
Zhang Tianba caught the letter and opened it, his face turning pale. The letter detailed the movements of Li Ye and others, as well as the fact of Liu Fei's betrayal; all the information was clear.
"This..." Zhang Tianba was momentarily speechless.
Wei Chenghao laughed loudly. "Zhang Tianba, these so-called lowly trash of yours are actually pawns of my lord. Every move you make is under our control. Today, you will pay the price!"
The people on the city wall became tense, and Li Ye tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, preparing for battle.
Wei Chenghao shouted, "Zhang Tianba, surrender! You have no chance of winning!"
Zhang Tianba stood tall. Although he felt some wavering in his heart, he responded loudly, "Qingyang City will not submit to you! Liu Zhang's ambitions will not succeed!"
Wei Chenghao sneered. "If that's the case, prepare to face your doom!" After saying that, he waved his hand to signal his army to begin the attack.
The generals on the city wall immediately entered battle mode, ready to face the impending fierce combat.
Wei Chenghao's army stood ready outside the city, and the atmosphere within Qingyang City was tense to the extreme. Li Ye stood on the city wall, contemplating strategies. However, just as he fell into despair, the Common People within the city spontaneously organized themselves and united with the Qingyang Gang, preparing to resist Wei Chenghao together.
Seeing the courage and determination of the Common People, Li Ye felt a surge of respect. He knew he couldn't let these innocent citizens pay with their lives for his decisions. In his mind, he spoke to the Evil Spirit, "I'm sorry, but I can't guarantee this body will survive anymore. Everything has arisen because of my meddling, and now I must pay the price for my actions."
With that, Li Ye resolutely jumped off the city wall, facing Wei Chenghao's army alone. This action shocked everyone inside and outside the city. The Evil Spirit became anxious and quickly took control of Li Ye's body, unleashing powerful strength as it shouted at Wei Chenghao, "Bastard! Understanding each other, the Evil Spirit used Li Ye's body to glare at Wei Chenghao's army with red eyes and cursed, "You bastards made me a thug! I'm angry now; the consequences will be severe!"
The Evil Spirit shook a bell, and Liu Fei and Specter immediately flanked him as they charged into the enemy ranks, unleashing a shocking massacre. Liu Fei wielded his claws like a whirlwind, tearing apart the enemy formation; Specter moved like a Soul Devourer among the enemy soldiers, taking lives with every strike.
Wei Chenghao watched as this sudden surge of power erupted, his expression darkening. He waved his hand to command his subordinates to surround Li Ye and his allies, but under the Evil Spirit's control, Li Ye was like a fierce tiger, unstoppable. Wei Chenghao realized that this Li Ye was no ordinary person; he had to treat him seriously.
As the Evil Spirit rampaged through the battlefield, it cursed, "I've really hit rock bottom to encounter such a living ancestor! Alright, Li Ye, kid, this time I'm going to help you all the way!"
Li Ye silently expressed his gratitude for the Evil Spirit's assistance and said, "Evil Spirit, you're really a good person!"
Hearing this from Li Ye almost made the Evil Spirit stumble on the battlefield. After jumping up to kill a soldier, it said, "You're the good person! Your whole family are good people! Making me do hard labor while praising me as a good person! Bah!" After saying that, it killed several more soldiers!
On the other hand, things were getting terrifying with Liu Fei and Specter! After Li Ye's strength increased, the zombies he controlled became significantly more toxic. The power of the zombies under Li Ye's command far exceeded Wei Chenghao's imagination. Especially Specter; soldiers she killed slowly stood up again as low-level zombies and rejoined the battlefield. Although these zombies moved slowly and stiffly, they were fearless in battle and formed a terrifying force. The soldiers witnessed this scene and were greatly impacted psychologically. One moment they were comrades; the next moment they became zombies trying to bite them. This psychological shock nearly shattered their will.
Although Liu Fei's corpse poison is not as strong as Specter's, there is still a chance that one out of ten corpses can rise. At the beginning of the battle, the effects of the corpse poison were not obvious, but as time passed, hundreds of limbless, twisted-moving zombies began to surge toward the enemy lines. The battle lasted for a full hour, and Wei Chenghao's army gradually collapsed under the immense power of Liu Fei and Specter. Many soldiers were not killed but rather frightened to death. Wei Chenghao looked at the devastation on the battlefield and finally realized he had underestimated Li Ye's strength. His face turned pale, and his expression darkened as he had no choice but to order a retreat, temporarily abandoning the attack on Qingyang City.
As soon as Wei Chenghao issued the retreat order, the army withdrew like a tide, leaving behind a ground littered with corpses and a ruined battlefield. Li Ye stood on the city wall, watching the retreating enemy forces, yet he did not feel completely at ease. He knew that this victory was only temporary and that future challenges awaited him.
Back in the city, the common people cheered with joy. At that moment, they looked at the zombies outside the city and found them more appealing than living people; it was these zombies that saved them, especially Specter and Liu Fei by Li Ye's side! Many citizens thought to themselves, can zombies really look this good?
The common people expressed their gratitude to Li Ye and his companions for their brave fight. Zhang Tianba stepped forward, patted Li Ye on the shoulder, and said gratefully, "Brother Li, we owe this to you; otherwise, Qingyang City would have been in danger."
Li Ye smiled slightly, his eyes filled with determination: "This is just the beginning; we must continue to work hard to truly protect this land."
In the following days within the city, Li Ye and his companions remained vigilant. They intensified training for soldiers, reinforced defensive structures, and formulated more detailed battle plans. Li Ye understood that Wei Chenghao would not give up easily; the next attack could be even more ferocious.
Meanwhile, the evil spirit spoke to Li Ye in his mind: "Kid, I really helped you out this time; don't forget our agreement."
Li Ye felt grateful and nodded: "I remember; our deal is still valid. Thank you for your help."
The evil spirit chuckled: "That's good; I don't want my efforts to go to waste."
Liu Fei and Specter also returned to Li Ye's side. Liu Fei looked at the low-level zombies on the battlefield with a complicated expression. Li Ye ordered Specter and Liu Fei to devour nearly a thousand low-level zombies along with all the remnants scattered across the ground. The overwhelming energy made Li Ye feel like his body was about to burst! The evil spirit appeared in response, greedily consuming the lingering souls on the battlefield through Liu Fei's body.
As it rubbed its belly and burped contentedly, the evil spirit said, "Burp~ The effort truly corresponds with the reward! This time I ate more than last time!"
