After determining her direction, Lan Xi quickly devised a comprehensive plan in her mind. She understood that to get close to Li Ye and gain his trust, she needed a suitable backstory and a compelling reason. She decided to disguise herself as a weak woman fleeing from danger to evoke sympathy and a protective instinct from Li Ye and his companions.
"Li Ye, no matter how strong you are, I will succeed," Lan Xi murmured to herself, a glint of determination flashing in her eyes.
She then tore her dress and dirtied her face to make herself appear more disheveled. Choosing a small path, she ensured that Li Ye and his group would see her as they passed by. Next, she set up a simple trap by the roadside, simulating a scene of having been attacked by robbers.
Once everything was ready, Lan Xi found a concealed spot and patiently awaited the arrival of Li Ye and his companions. She knew that with her meticulousness and tracking skills, combined with this well-crafted plan, Li Ye would surely take the bait.
"Li Ye, your end is near," Lan Xi whispered, her eyes shimmering with complex emotions.
Lan Xi knew that to gain the trust of Li Ye's group, she had to convincingly portray an injured state. Without hesitation, she inflicted two cuts on herself and then struck herself hard, causing severe internal injuries. The intense pain made cold sweat bead on her forehead, but she gritted her teeth and remained silent. She was well aware that all of this was for the mission Liu Zhang had entrusted to her.
As night fell, Lan Xi found a hidden spot among the bushes by the path and collapsed onto the ground, blood seeping from her wounds while her breathing became rapid and weak. She silently prayed for Li Ye and his group to pass by soon.
Sure enough, not long after, Li Ye appeared at the end of the path with Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen. The three of them looked serious, clearly still weighed down by the grim situation in Qingyang City. Li Ye walked at the front, vigilantly scanning his surroundings in fear of encountering any further dangers.
When they approached the trap set by Lan Xi, Li Ye suddenly stopped, his sharp gaze sweeping around: "Something feels off here."
Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen also halted, nervously observing their surroundings. Just then, a faint groan reached their ears.
"Help... help me..." Lan Xi's voice was weak and pained, filled with despair and helplessness.
Li Ye frowned and followed the sound, catching sight of a figure curled up in the bushes ahead. He signaled Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen to proceed cautiously before slowly walking over. Parting the bushes, Li Ye saw a woman in tattered clothes covered in dirt, with multiple knife wounds and handprints on her body; blood stained her garments, and her face was pale—she had clearly suffered serious injuries.
"Are you okay?" Li Ye crouched down and asked gently.
Lan Xi looked up at Li Ye with tear-filled eyes and weakly said, "I... I was attacked by robbers... They took my things and hurt me... Please help me..."
Zhiruo, seeing Lan Xi's condition, felt a surge of compassion and immediately stepped forward to check her injuries. She activated the Heavenly Physician Ancient Scroll to heal Lan Xi, while Lan Xi took the opportunity to observe them, feeling secretly pleased.
"The injuries are serious, both internal and external. We must treat them immediately," Zhiruo said, reassuring her, "Don't worry, we won't harm you."
Yan Yuchen also comforted her softly, "What is your name? How did you end up here?"
Lan Xi wiped her tears and whispered, "My name is Lan Xi. I am from a nearby village. Recently, the village was attacked by bandits. I escaped to seek help but ended up being robbed here... Luckily, I encountered you."
Li Ye nodded and after a moment of contemplation said, "In that case, come with us. Once we find a safe place, we will figure out how to send you back to your village."
While Zhiruo was treating Lan Xi's injuries, she suddenly sensed the Spiritual Energy within her and became alert. She stopped the treatment and stepped back to Li Ye's side, pointing at Lan Xi and questioning, "How do you have Spiritual Energy? You are not an ordinary person, and your cultivation level is not low! How could you be attacked by mere bandits?! Who exactly are you?"
Lan Xi cursed Wei Chenghao for providing inaccurate information; she hadn't expected Zhiruo to detect her cultivation level. However, she couldn't easily abandon the mission Liu Zhang had given her. Suppressing her unease, she looked at Zhiruo with a wronged and weak expression and slowly said:

After she finished speaking, a glimmer of sincerity and pleading flashed in her eyes as she looked at Li Ye and Zhiruo, hoping they would believe her explanation.
Li Ye glanced at Lan Xi, then at Zhiruo, and after a moment of contemplation said, "Her explanation does have some merit. Zhiruo, do you think what she said is true?"
Zhiruo hesitated for a moment. Although she still had doubts in her heart, she could indeed sense Lan Xi's weakness and pain. She nodded, "She does have injuries within her. Although her Spiritual Energy is powerful, she doesn't seem like an enemy."
Yan Yuchen also spoke softly, "We can observe her actions for now. If she really poses a problem, we can deal with it later."
Li Ye nodded and turned to Lan Xi, "We will continue to help you heal, but we hope you understand our caution. If there are any unusual movements, we won't let you off easily."
Lan Xi quickly nodded, her face full of gratitude, "Thank you for your trust; I will not let you down."
Li Ye nodded at Zhiruo, who understood the unspoken message. At that moment, the evil spirit in Li Ye's consciousness watched everything with a slight smirk and said meaningfully, "This little girl is really putting in the effort!"
The group continued onward, with Lan Xi placed in the middle of the formation. Zhiruo continued to treat her injuries while maintaining a sense of vigilance in her heart. Meanwhile, Lan Xi secretly breathed a sigh of relief, knowing she had temporarily gained the trust of Li Ye and his companions. However, she was also aware that her next actions needed to be more cautious to avoid revealing any flaws.
