The Evil Spirit shrugged and shot a glance at the Wicked Spirit, explaining, "This disgusting thing is called Soul Ripper. I fought it back in ancient times; it's strong but looks repulsive and just begs to be beaten."
Soul Ripper grinned maliciously, its voice sharp and piercing, saying in a tooth-grinding tone: "Void Night, don't overestimate yourself. Your soul has been sealed for so long; how much strength do you think you have left? You might as well surrender and become my servant. Perhaps I can spare your soul from destruction."
Void Night coldly replied, a flicker of anger in his eyes: "Soul Ripper, are you still dreaming? Back then, I sealed you in that stone tablet. After all this time, if you see me, won't you run away? You still want to fight me? Are you asking for another beating?"
Soul Ripper licked its lips, a glint of greed in its eyes: "Times have changed, Void Night. Thanks to those foolish cultivators. In their quest to improve their cultivation, they continuously searched ancient ruins and ultimately broke my seal. Now, I've devoured a lot of Spiritual Energy. I've consumed two souls and six spirits from these cultivators, leaving just one soul and one spirit behind so they won't die. But look at them; aren't they amusing in their dazed state?"
Li Ye clenched his fists tightly in the sea of consciousness and asked coldly, "What exactly are you?"
Void Night snorted disdainfully at Li Ye: "I've helped you so many times, and you still don't know to ask who I am?"
Li Ye awkwardly replied in the sea of consciousness, "Cough, cough, do you believe me if I say I forgot to ask?"
Void Night spat and said, "Remember this: my name is Void Night. I was the most powerful spirit master in ancient times, but these bastards labeled me as an evil cultivator because I practiced their so-called forbidden Nine Nether Spirit Control Technique! While I wasn't paying attention, they deceived me and ambushed me! They sealed me in that broken bell! Then these scoundrels proclaimed to the world that I had fallen due to my greed for power. Bah! And Soul Ripper, this guy is an ancient evil spirit that thrives on devouring souls and flesh. I found it repulsive and sealed it within a stone tablet deep in the mountains."
Soul Ripper laughed instead of getting angry: "Void Night, your Nine Nether Spirit Control Technique is still powerful, but unfortunately, you'll never reach your peak again. Now, I'm going to devour this kid's soul and fully restore my power."
Void Night raised an eyebrow disdainfully at Soul Ripper: "I told you you're not awake; what daydream are you having? If you really want to fight, come on! Let's see who lives or dies."
Soul Ripper's laughter was filled with mockery and malice: "Void Night, you're no longer at your peak. How can you compete with me now? You're merely residing in a mortal's body; do you really think you can defeat me?"
Void Night's voice turned low and icy: "Soul Ripper, stop talking nonsense! Do you dare to fight?"
Soul Ripper laughed heartily, its voice echoing in the basement: "Fight! Of course! I want revenge for what happened back then!"
As Li Ye prepared for a fierce battle, he suddenly saw Void Night grab Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen, turning to flee without looking back while shouting, "What are you talking about?! You little brat's body is too fragile to withstand all my power! Every time you see me rampaging around, that's just a fraction of my strength. If I went all out, your body would have exploded long ago!"
Li Ye was stunned, then asked in surprise within his mind, "What harsh words did you just say?"
Void Night responded while running, his tone filled with helplessness: "I sealed this ugly creature before, thinking to scare it off and make it retreat. But that plan failed! Now we can only run first; we can talk about fighting later."
Li Ye was momentarily speechless. Soul Ripper laughed behind them, the sound echoing in the basement: "Run away; you can't escape!"
Void Night said in a deep voice, "Don't listen to it; focus on escaping."
Li Ye took a deep breath to steady his mind and secretly resolved, "We must find a way to deal with Soul Ripper; we can't let it continue to harm the world!"
At this moment, Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen, under Void Night's lead, also understood the urgency of the situation. Zhiruo tightly held Li Ye's hand and said firmly, "Brother Ye, we will get through this together."
Yan Yuchen encouraged from the side, "Young Master, I will support you!"
Void Night cursed and said, "You two are just sweet-talking for ghosts! Run! Let's focus on surviving first!"
Soul Ripper let out a strange laugh and suddenly shattered into countless fragments, each fragment transforming into a thumb-sized little Soul Ripper. These little Soul Rippers burrowed into the minds of the dazed cultivators. Soon, the eyes of those trapped cultivators flickered with an eerie light, their mouths twisted into an unbelievable grin as they stared with wide eyes, emitting chilling laughter. Even the Innkeeper and the waiter had their minds invaded by the little Soul Rippers. They lay on the ground with bizarre expressions, crawling like twisted beasts in pursuit of Li Ye and his group!
These distorted figures moved in an exceptionally strange manner but were incredibly fast, closing in on Li Ye and his companions. Li Ye felt a chill in his heart as he glanced back at the cultivators controlled by Soul Ripper, filled with anger and determination. He knew that if they were caught up to, there would be no escape.
"Void Night, what should we do?" Li Ye asked nervously in his mind.
Void Night thought quickly while running: "What else can we do? Just run!!!"
Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen also sensed the imminent danger. Zhiruo gritted her teeth and said to Li Ye, "Brother Ye, we need to find a way to shake them off!"
Void Night replied irritably while running, "What you said is just nonsense!"
Yan Yuchen nodded in agreement, "Yes, young master, we cannot just sit and wait for our doom!"
Void Night was speechless, "Isn't it better to take a few deep breaths instead of talking nonsense? Run!"
Void Night calmly analyzed the situation, "There’s a dense forest ahead. I'll lead you into the woods and let those ghostly things wander around in there!"
Li Ye nodded, "Alright, let's go with your plan! We must unite to get through this crisis."
Void Night, feeling exasperated, said, "Oh yes, yes! You're absolutely right! I'm really fed up with you all; even with our butts on fire, you still have the energy to shout slogans!"
They quickly rushed forward, traversing the mountain path and entering a dense forest. The light was dim in the woods, with towering trees surrounding them, filled with a mysterious and eerie atmosphere. Void Night led Li Ye and the others, using the terrain and tree cover to try to shake off the pursuing cultivators.
The cultivators controlled by Soul Ripper were frantically chasing them through the forest, their movements becoming more twisted and swift. As Li Ye ran, he pondered strategies to deal with the situation.
Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen closely followed behind Li Ye, afraid of falling behind if they weren't careful.
As they continued weaving through the forest, they gradually managed to distance themselves from the cultivators controlled by Soul Ripper.
Void Night was leading two women and two corpses through the woods when suddenly everything went dark in front of him. In an instant, as his vision returned, he crashed into a hard stone wall! Before Void Night could react to what had happened, Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen bumped into his back. However, when they turned around, they found another stone wall behind them.
Void Night was puzzled; they were trapped between two stone walls. Looking up at the pitch-black sky above, Void Night furrowed his brow and asked in confusion about the suddenly appearing walls, "Where are we?"
