Chen Hu opened his eyes and found himself back in the training ground of Dragon Tiger Gate. The surroundings were familiar, with his fellow disciples practicing their martial arts. Chen Hu looked around, marveling, "Is this... Dragon Tiger Gate?" He rubbed his eyes, unable to believe he had returned to the past.
At that moment, a petite figure ran over and hugged Chen Hu's waist, cheerfully exclaiming, "Senior Brother! You're back!"
Chen Hu looked down and saw his junior sister, Xiao Lian. She was dressed in a white training outfit, holding a delicate long sword, her eyes filled with joy. Chen Hu felt warmth in his heart and gently patted her head, saying, "Xiao Lian, Senior Brother is back."
Xiao Lian grabbed Chen Hu's hand and said with a smile, "Senior Brother, today we are going to compete in swordsmanship to see if I've improved during this time!"
Chen Hu smiled and nodded, saying, "Alright, let Senior Brother see your sword skills."
The two walked to the center of the training ground. Xiao Lian waved her sword gracefully; each move displayed her extraordinary talent for swordsmanship. Chen Hu clapped and cheered, "Good! Great swordsmanship!"
Just as they were joking around, a scene suddenly flashed through Chen Hu's mind: Xiao Lian collapsed in his arms, gasping for breath. Pain shot through his heart as the image before him blurred. He blinked hard, and Xiao Lian was still standing in front of him, beaming with a smile.
Suppressing the sorrow within him, Chen Hu decided to reminisce about the past with Xiao Lian. They sat on a stone bench beside the training ground and began chatting about their past adventures.
"Xiao Lian, do you remember our first meeting?" Chen Hu asked with a smile.
Xiao Lian nodded and laughed, "Of course I remember! At that time, Senior Brother had just started training and I hit you with a wooden sword; you almost cried."
Chen Hu laughed heartily, "That was because your strike was so unexpected! Who would have thought such a little girl could be so fierce!"
Xiao Lian pouted playfully, "What little girl? Now I'm your junior sister and my sword skills are much better than before!"
Chen Hu affectionately ruffled Xiao Lian's hair and said, "And then there was that bet I lost where you made me learn to dance like a courtesan. I practiced for two whole months just for you."
Xiao Lian stuck out her tongue and said, "Don't remind me how terrible your dancing was; it was disgusting!"
Chen Hu's face turned red with embarrassment, but Xiao Lian kissed his cheek and said, "But I liked it. Thank you, Senior Brother."
The two of them exchanged words, reminiscing about the past. As the conversation progressed, a slight change appeared on their faces. "Xiao Lian, do you remember our last mission?"
Xiao Lian's expression dimmed as she nodded gently. "Of course I remember. During that mission, we were ambushed."
A flash of pain crossed Chen Hu's eyes. "That mission was when I failed to protect you, and you..."
Xiao Lian interrupted him with a smile. "Shixiong, don't say that. I always knew you did your best."
It had been a dangerous mission; Chen Hu and Xiao Lian were sent to track down a notorious bandit but unexpectedly fell into an ambush. Xiao Lian was severely injured during the fight and collapsed in Chen Hu's arms. He held her tightly, his eyes filled with despair.
"Xiao Lian, don't die! Do you like practicing swordsmanship? Shixiong will find the best sword manual in the world for you!" Chen Hu's voice trembled.
Xiao Lian weakly smiled and softly said, "Shixiong, don't be foolish. No matter how good the manual is, it can't save me."
Chen Hu held her tightly as tears streamed silently down his face. "No, it won't happen! You won't die!"
Xiao Lian reached out and gently stroked Chen Hu's face. "Shixiong, I'm very happy to have walked through these years with you. Thank you for taking care of me for so long..."
Her words grew weaker until she finally breathed her last in Chen Hu's embrace. He held her lifeless body and howled to the sky; at that moment, it felt as if the entire world had lost its color.
Back in reality, Chen Hu looked at Xiao Lian before him, filled with complex emotions. He took a deep breath and softly said, "Xiao Lian, thank you for accompanying me all these years."
Xiao Lian smiled and nodded. "Shixiong, no need to thank me. I've always been here with you."
Chen Hu said to Xiao Lian, "Xiao Lian, I found a master named Yan Yuchen. I learned a set of Flying Swallow Sword Technique from her, and I'll show it to you."
Chen Hu picked up Xiao Lian's sword and began to demonstrate. Tears flowed from the rugged man's eyes as the graceful sword moves appeared so contrasting and discordant beneath his rough exterior that it seemed somewhat comical and embarrassing; yet this did not stop Chen Hu—he only wanted Xiao Lian to see the sword technique he had sought for her.
Xiao Lian watched Chen Hu through her tears, laughing as she said, "Silly Shixiong! This sword technique doesn't suit you!" After saying this, she suddenly rushed forward to hug Chen Hu and exclaimed, "But I like it! Thank you!"
At that moment, Chen Hu felt the surroundings begin to blur, realizing this was the trial of the past. He stood up and bowed deeply, saying, "Xiao Lian, goodbye."
Xiao Lian smiled as her figure gradually faded away. "Shixiong, take care. The future will surely be more wonderful."
Chen Hu's vision became hazy again as tears streamed down his face. He softly said, "Xiao Lian, goodbye."
Since his junior sister Xiao Lian passed away, Chen Hu had not felt any emotions. She was the only one in his heart, and he only wished to obtain an extraordinary sword manual to practice in front of her grave. In Netherworld Paradise, Chen Hu unexpectedly fulfilled a wish by demonstrating the introductory form of the Flying Swallow Sword Technique before Xiao Lian.
His eyes reddened, filled with mixed emotions. The experiences of the past made him feel as if he had returned to those days spent with Xiao Lian; he could sense her smile and care. Chen Hu knelt before Yan Yuchen and earnestly bowed his head, saying, "Thank you, Master."
Although Yan Yuchen did not know what Chen Hu had experienced in the past, seeing his reddened eyes made her aware that he had gone through a struggle. She helped him up and gently said, "It's all over now."
Chen Hu nodded, a hint of determination in his eyes. "It's over, but she is still here."
Yan Yuchen thought of the words her parents had said to her before their disappearance in Illusion, feeling warmth in her heart. She softly spoke, seemingly to Chen Hu but also to herself: "That's right, it's over, but still here."
At that moment, Zhiruo and Mo Yun approached. Zhiruo linked arms with Yan Yuchen and gently said to Chen Hu, "We have all gone through trials. Although it is hard to forget the past, we must continue moving forward for the future."
Mo Yun smiled slightly and nodded. "Everyone has their past attachments, but only by letting go can we better embrace the future."
Chen Hu clenched his fists, filled with strength.
