One evening, as night fell, everyone pitched their tents and rested. Cold Frost left the camp alone to patrol the surroundings and ensure safety.
Not long after Cold Frost left the camp, Night Charm used her disguise technique to transform into Li Ye's appearance and quietly followed her. As Night Charm approached, she mimicked Li Ye's voice and said, "Cold Frost, I need your help with something."
Cold Frost had no doubts and turned to follow Night Charm deeper into the forest. By the time she sensed something was wrong, it was already too late. Shadowstrike suddenly emerged from the shadows and swiftly subdued Cold Frost. Night Charm quickly used a drug to knock Cold Frost unconscious, and then the two of them took her to a pre-arranged trap location.
The next day, Li Ye discovered that Cold Frost was missing and was alarmed. He immediately began searching for her. However, soon after, an injured carrier pigeon flew into the camp carrying a note that read: "Li Ye, Cold Frost is in my hands. If you want to save her, come alone; otherwise, her life is in jeopardy!"
Li Ye furrowed his brows and contemplated for a moment before deciding to go alone. He knew this was a trap, but he couldn't ignore Cold Frost's safety. Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen advised him, "Brother Ye, this is likely an enemy scheme."
Li Ye firmly shook his head. "Cold Frost cannot be in danger. Since she chose to follow me, I must save her. You all stay here; I will go alone."
He took the Nine Nether Guardian Spirit Sword with him and headed towards the location specified by the enemy alone. Along the way, Li Ye remained highly vigilant, but his anxiety left him little room for thought.
When he stepped into the designated area, a thick cloud of poison gas suddenly enveloped him. Li Ye immediately felt his Spiritual Energy become chaotic within him; he realized he had fallen into the enemy's poison trap. However, he did not retreat; instead, he quickened his pace towards the enemy's ambush point.
At his most vulnerable moment, Shadowstrike and Night Charm emerged from the shadows and launched a deadly attack. The poison gas slowed Li Ye's movements significantly; before he could even draw his sword, Shadowstrike struck him fatally with a single blow and he collapsed to the ground.
Shadowstrike and Night Charm coldly watched Li Ye lying on the ground, confirming that he had no chance of survival. Wei Chenghao stepped out from the shadows, nodding in satisfaction: "Finally dealt with this troublesome threat."
As Wei Chenghao and the others turned to leave, they suddenly heard a low, guttural roar. Turning back, they were shocked to see Li Ye twisting and crawling up from the ground. Wei Chenghao was startled, unable to believe his eyes. The " Li Ye" before them moved strangely, with stiff joints, like a puppet controlled by strings, devoid of life. As he struggled to stand, the flesh on his face began to twist unnaturally, as if it were about to fall off his bones.
The flesh on " Li Ye" gradually slipped away, revealing dark, decayed muscle and exposed white bones underneath. As chunks of flesh fell away, a putrid smell spread through the air, making it thick and nauseating. Wei Chenghao and Shadowstrike exchanged glances, realizing that the " Li Ye" before them was not what they had thought.
His eyeball suddenly popped out of its socket, hanging from the side of his face, leaving only hollow eye sockets. He emitted a sound that was neither human nor animal—part cry, part laugh—that sent chills down their spines. His hands began to disintegrate as well; nails and flesh peeled away to reveal rotting bones beneath, as if mocking them.
With each step he took, " Li Ye"’s body began to fall apart. The muscle on his chest slumped like rotten mud, exposing his internal organs. Intestines dangled outside his body, swaying with his movements and making a sickening sound. With every breath he took, the stench intensified, causing the surrounding plants to wither.
Suddenly, black smoke erupted from Li Ye's chest cavity as if some evil force was burning within him. This smoke carried a corrosive aura that further decomposed his flesh, revealing an incomplete skeletal structure inside. Wei Chenghao suddenly realized that this was not Li Ye, but rather some kind of controlled zombie.
As the black smoke gradually dissipated, the fake " Li Ye" completely collapsed. The fragmented shell fell to the ground, revealing the truth beneath: this was a low-level zombie controlled by Li Ye, its core Spiritual Energy damaged which led to the failure of the spell. The incomplete corpse of Qianlinghua emerged, with flesh on its face melting away like wax, exposing a half-rotten skull.
Once Qianlinghua's incomplete body appeared, its eyes were hollow and lifeless, emitting an unconscious low growl as if cursing them. The fused beast's shredded flesh also began to decompose, releasing a foul odor mixed with decaying corpses scattered everywhere. Wei Chenghao and Shadowstrike stepped back a few paces, feeling unprecedented fear and disgust.
Wei Chenghao believed he had been cautious enough in dealing with Li Ye, but it turned out he had underestimated Li Ye's strength. Shadowstrike sensed that things were going awry and exchanged a glance with Night Charm, instantly darting in two directions while leaving Wei Chenghao behind to attract Li Ye's attention.
Watching the two escape, Wei Chenghao angrily shouted: "Shadowstrike! Night Charm! You two bastards! What kind of skill is running away?! I will remember this!"
Turning around, he trembled as he looked at his surroundings, trying hard to steady himself while shouting: "Li Ye! I know you are here for me! But you can't kill me today! If I don't return, your subordinate Cold Frost will die in less than a moment! I slaughtered Qingyang City! Before dying, I’ll take your subordinate along; it’s a good deal!"
Upon hearing this, rage burned within Li Ye. Holding the Nine Nether Guardian Spirit Sword in his right hand and shaking a bell in his left hand, the stone coffin behind him slowly rose. His entire body erupted with Spiritual Energy, instantly dispersing the surrounding poisonous gas. Looking at Li Ye, Wei Chenghao was shocked and stammered: "You actually formed your core?! This is impossible!"
Li Ye coldly stared at Wei Chenghao, a murderous intent evident in his eyes. "The blood debt of Qingyang City will be repaid today!"
