Rafas was still in the meeting room when her bodyguard urgently sent a photo of her in the tree to Mike's phone. Upon seeing it, Mike quickly held the phone up to Rafas.
"Bang..." Rafas slammed her hand on the conference table, interrupting the supervisor who was reporting data, and shouted angrily, "No need to report anymore, meeting adjourned!"
She rushed out of Monica Tower and drove back to the castle. That reckless woman must be tired of living; how could she once again treat his words as nonsense? Looking at the photo of her, he was furious. She wasn't even holding onto the tree trunk properly, and he noticed that this tree was clearly not the same one she had climbed last time because this trunk was far too thin, making his heart race with anxiety.
Yan Wushuang felt that getting up was easy but coming down was difficult. She had been stuck in the tree for a long time, unsure of how to descend. Which foot should she extend as a support point?
Ten minutes... twenty minutes... The longer she stayed up there, the more frightened she became. Desperate, she began shifting her position on the tree, trying to find the best place to land. However, after staying on the branch for so long and now swaying back and forth, the branch gradually couldn't bear her weight and began to crack.
Rafas rushed back with a heavy heart, hurrying towards the garden. Seeing the woman still stuck in the tree made him furious.
From high up in the branches, Yan Wushuang saw Rafas approaching with an angry expression and thought to herself that it was over; she needed to find a way down quickly.
The more anxious she felt, the more she swayed on the tree. Just as Rafas reached the base of the tree and was about to yell at her, a sudden cracking sound came from above. Before Yan Wushuang could figure out what happened, she fell along with the breaking branch!
"Ah..." A terrified scream escaped her lips as she plummeted downward. The rapid descent caused several branches to scrape against her skin.
Rafas stood beneath the tree, his heart nearly leaping out of his chest. He raised his arms and caught her just in time, rolling aside to avoid being hit by the falling trunk.
Once everything settled down, Rafas looked at her injured arm with a flicker of concern but said nothing. With a dark expression, he picked her up and strode out of the garden to get into the car. He remained silent during the ride while Mike handed him antiseptic and bandages. He skillfully cleaned her wounds and bandaged the more serious cuts.
After half an hour of driving, they arrived at Solomon's secret base. Since Shouya had quarreled with Rafas that day and flew to New York's research center the next day, he had been away for several days. However, he called daily to check on how Wushuang was doing; the butler would reassure him.
As dusk fell, he wondered why he had brought himself here. He could see that Rafas was very angry—so much so that she dared not speak at all during their journey. Even when he cleaned her wounds earlier and it hurt a lot, she kept quiet for fear that he might snap and harm her.
Rafas carried her inside with an indifferent expression. Faisal looked at him in confusion, not understanding what had happened. Without saying a word, Rafas took her into an underground cell.
Yan Wushuang looked around at the dim surroundings; it seemed almost deserted. What did he bring her here for?
"Lefas, can we go back? I don't like this at all," she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling increasingly panicked.
No matter what she said, Rafas remained silent as he carried her to the last cell—the same one where she had stayed before. He kicked open the door and roughly tossed her onto the old wooden bed without any gentleness before turning around and leaving without looking back.
"Lefas... where are you going? Don't leave me here!" Watching him walk away without glancing back made Wushuang's heart sink to its lowest point. When that cold iron door slammed shut behind him, darkness enveloped her completely; this was an underground cell with no light—only endless darkness remained.
"Let me out... let me out... Lefas, I was wrong, I won't climb trees anymore, I'll listen to you, just let me out..." The endless darkness swallowed the weak Wushuang as she cried and begged, accidentally falling from the bed. Dragging her injured knee, she crawled to the door, crying out in fear of hitting the iron gate.
Rafas had not left, standing outside the door listening to her cries. His heart felt like it was bleeding; for the first time, he felt pain in his heart.
"Lefas... let me out, it's so dark here, Wushuang is scared, I'm so afraid... Lefas..." Her heart-wrenching cries made the man outside want to rush in and hold her tightly in his arms, showering her with affection.
But he couldn't; he had to teach her a lesson that she would remember for a lifetime. Watching her fall from the tree had left him in shock, his mind blank as he could only see her falling. To prevent her from taking such dangerous actions in the future, he had to endure!
"Ah..." Suddenly, her terrified screams echoed in the cell. Wushuang was banging on the iron door as if she had discovered something that frightened her.
Faisal had just reached the entrance of the underground cell when he heard Wushuang's fearful cries along with the banging sound against the iron door...
"Lefas, what happened? Why did you lock her up again?" Faisal asked him in confusion. Just a few days ago, they seemed fine; the incident with the photos had passed. What was going on now?
Seeing his expressionless face, Faisal suddenly widened his eyes and approached Mike, whispering, "Did Yan Wushuang regain her memory?"
Mike glanced at his master's expression and shook his head to deny it. Given that Rafas was standing there, he didn't dare say anything further to Faisal.
What on earth was going on that required such secrecy?
The three men outside looked at the cold iron door with their own concerns. Inside, the girl continued to cry and plead. Her voice grew hoarse but louder, revealing just how terrified she was of this place.
An hour passed... Yan Wushuang was still enveloped by endless darkness. She turned to look at the pitch-black space and felt inexplicably that many eyes were watching her, many large hands reaching out toward her, accompanied by terrifying laughter echoing in her ears...
"Woo... Lefas... Lefas..." Two hours had passed; she was exhausted from crying and shouting. In her subconscious mind, she felt that Lefas no longer wanted her and had abandoned her in this terrifying dark room!
Despairing, she dragged her scraped knees and elbows into a small corner of the cell. Tears had dried up; endless disappointment left her unable to cry anymore. She hugged herself tightly, curled up in the corner without moving.
Three hours passed... Rafas could no longer hear any sounds coming from inside. Night had fallen, and a sense of oppressive fear spread within him. Damn it, he couldn't hold on any longer!
"Mike, open the door!" With a command, Mike immediately took out the key and unlocked the iron door. Rafas, anxious, pushed the door open and stepped inside. The scene before him made him regret his decision for the first time.
He saw Wushuang, barefoot and hugging herself tightly, burying her head between her legs. Her long black hair covered her face; her frail body curled up in the corner while she occasionally sobbed weakly.
"My baby, my Wushuang..." Rafas took off his coat and squatted in front of her, wrapping her trembling form in it. He brushed aside her hair and lifted her chin; damn it, she had cried until her eyes were red and swollen, tear-streaked cheeks reflecting an empty gaze that couldn't focus at all.
Looking at her palms, elbows, and knees, which were covered in wounds, he couldn't help but wonder how this had happened. Just a moment ago, she had only a scratch on her arm from a branch. How could so many injuries have appeared out of nowhere?
There were traces of her crawling on the ground, mixed with bright red blood. Rafas observed everything, as if he understood what had just happened to her inside.
His large hand gently touched her cheek, the warm sensation gradually bringing Wushuang back to consciousness. Looking at the familiar man before her, the familiar Silver Mask, and the faint scent of Ancient Dragon Fragrance, her eyes became moist again. Tears like glistening beads fell down, flowing into his heart.
Wushuang deliberately closed her eyes, trying to shut out all this familiarity. What was he still doing here? Hadn't he abandoned her?
For the first time, Rafas felt a sense of panic. Wushuang's avoidance made him feel uneasy. He cupped her face and spoke in a gentle yet commanding tone, "Shuang'er, open your eyes and look at me. Tell me, who am I?"
Wushuang silently shed tears without saying a word, which only made Rafas more anxious. He pulled her tightly into his embrace and kissed her cheek.
This familiar embrace caused Wushuang to lose control and cry out in despair, struggling in his arms as she shouted, "Let go of me! I hate you! I dislike you! You don't want Shuang'er anymore! Just go away!"
"Baby, stop it! Who told you to be so disobedient and climb up that tree only to fall? If you keep this up, I really will abandon you and lock you up here for life!" Rafas held her tightly and warned sternly.
"Woo... Shuang'er doesn't want to stay here forever. It's so dark and scary; there are so many eyes watching Shuang'er and so many hands. I'm scared, Lefas... Please don't leave! Shuang'er knows she was wrong; I'll be obedient from now on. Don't leave me behind!" She suddenly clung tightly to him, trembling at the thought of being stuck in this place forever.
Rafas held her close, kissing her forehead and soothing her gently. "Baby, don’t cry. As long as you listen to me obediently, I will spoil you for life and never abandon you. Let’s go home, okay?"
Faisal stood outside the door watching them. This scene truly astonished him. Was that man really Rafas, the one who had fought alongside him through thick and thin amidst gunfire? Wasn't he supposed to be the ruthless leader of Solomon? How could he now appear like a caring father comforting his child?
