"This is the information you wanted." The weather today was particularly bad, with dark clouds covering the sky and heavy rain pounding against the windshield of the car.
The woman took the documents handed to her by the man, checked the contents, and then gave him a bill. The man received the money, thanked her, and quickly left her car.
After the man left, the woman carefully examined the contents of the leather bag, a smirk appearing at the corner of her mouth. No one knew what she was thinking...
"Ah..." A cry of pain echoed from a luxurious villa by the sea.
Mrs. Smith heard the scream and hurried to her daughter's room. Upon entering, she saw her daughter lying on the bed with a pale face.
"Annie, what happened?" Mrs. Smith rushed over to check on her daughter, asking anxiously.
"Mommy, it hurts, it hurts so much..." Annie pressed her hand against her lower right abdomen, looking pale and sweating lightly from the intense pain.
Mrs. Smith immediately called for a servant to help take her to the hospital. Given how she looked, it was clear that she must have eaten something bad.
Annie was rushed to the hospital again shortly after being discharged. It felt like a streak of bad luck was following her.
Mrs. Smith and the maid waited anxiously outside the emergency room when suddenly a doctor came out shouting, "Is there a relative of Miss Annie Smith here?"
"I am! I am her mother! What happened to my daughter?" Mrs. Smith asked urgently.
"Miss Smith has appendicitis and needs surgery to remove it. Please go complete the necessary paperwork; we need to prepare for her appendectomy!" The doctor spoke calmly, as appendectomy surgeries typically have low risks and complications are rare.
Mrs. Smith knew what appendicitis was. She nodded and urged the doctor to make sure her daughter would be treated well.
"Don't worry, ma'am. An appendectomy is just a minor surgery. After about a week of recovery, she'll be fine," the doctor reassured her professionally before quickly returning to the emergency room to prepare for the operation.
Although it wasn't a major surgery, Mrs. Smith was still anxious and notified her eldest daughter Anna, who was far away in England, urging her to come as soon as possible.
"Mom, don't worry. Everything will be fine. I'm heading over right now, just stay calm," Anna said before hanging up the phone. She explained the situation to her colleagues and immediately flew to Las Vegas.
The surgery was very successful, just as the doctor had said, with minimal risk involved. After a week of observation in the hospital post-surgery, she would be able to go home.
Seeing her youngest daughter suffering, Mrs. Smith sighed helplessly. Thinking of her son, who had been out of contact for so long, made her even more worried. That troublesome boy had caused so much trouble and now there was no sign of him; she had no idea how he was doing.
Yan Wushuang heard that Annie had undergone an appendectomy and hurried over to visit her. As soon as she entered the room, she saw a very beautiful woman who bore some resemblance to Annie. She quickly guessed that this must be Annie's sister, Princess Anna of the British Royal Family!
"Hello, Mrs. Lei!" she greeted her proactively.
"Hello, Princess Anna!" Yan Wushuang walked slowly to the bedside, taking in the grace and beauty of this woman.
"I just arrived and heard my sister mention you. Thank you so much for taking care of her!" Anna said warmly. As a woman herself, she didn't hold grudges like men often did. Although Rafas had taken over Halsen Group, she was a reasonable person; if it weren't for her brother Tony's incompetence, the company wouldn't have ended up in such a state or given Rafas any opportunity.
Wushuang smiled lightly; she had expected Princess Anna to be aloof due to her royal status, but found her surprisingly approachable. No wonder such a woman could capture a prince's heart!
"Not at all; I haven't done anything to deserve your praise," she replied as she placed the flowers she brought on the bedside table. Soon after, a maid came in to help arrange them in a vase.
Talking with such a distinguished woman made Yan Wushuang feel somewhat nervous, but Princess Anna's friendly demeanor put her at ease; she was anything but difficult to get along with.
Anna knew that Annie had opened a designer fashion store, but she had just finished surgery and needed to lie in the hospital for a week before she could get out of bed. If Yan Wushuang had time, she would take her to the store to have a look.
Yan Wushuang never refused anyone's request. Seeing that it was still early, she gladly agreed.
The two arrived at Annie's store, where the salesgirls all recognized Yan Wushuang and were very enthusiastic towards her. When they saw the woman behind her, the salesgirls became even more excited and whispered among themselves, "That looks like the sister of Boss, the princess of the British Royal Family. I've seen her photo in magazines!"
Customers in the store also looked at them; two glamorous women became the center of attention wherever they went.
Having seen so many things, Anna was not disturbed at all. She looked around every corner of the store and carefully observed each item, nodding in satisfaction. It seemed that Annie was starting to improve.
However, Tony was currently the one who made her most uneasy. He had been missing for several months, and there was no trace of him anywhere in England, which really worried her!
"This is great; I really like it here!" Anna said with a pleasant smile.
Yan Wushuang took her around nearby and insisted on treating her to dinner as a gesture of hospitality. The two got along so well that it surprised even herself.
Every move she made could not escape Rafas's notice. For her safety, every time she went out, Rafas would send two bodyguards to protect her secretly and report her whereabouts back to him.
When Rafas returned home from work, he repeatedly reminded her, "Don't associate too closely with the Smith Family; I know exactly what kind of people they are!"
Yan Wushuang heard him repeat this every day, and it was really annoying!
"Lefas, you shouldn't condemn someone forever just because they made a mistake in the past. I met Princess Anna today and we even went shopping together. I think she's really nice and easy to get along with. Compared to those countesses or wealthy ladies you always take me to meet at those banquets, I think she's much better. Despite her noble status, she didn't put on any airs at all!" Yan Wushuang expressed her opinion.
"Of course, she wouldn't dare to act arrogantly in front of you because she doesn't deserve it. Don't forget that the Halsen Group belongs to your husband, and I, Rafas, have the final say. The British Throne will eventually fall into Morina's hands; her husband is at most just a prince. Moreover, her mother and sister live on our territory. If I hadn't given that villa to her sister, who knows how far this family of women would have fallen?" Rafas spoke with pride and arrogance, but every word he said was the truth.
Yan Wushuang understood the implication behind his words, but no matter what, she still thought Princess Anna was a good person. She had even mentioned inviting her to dinner in a couple of days. No matter how he tried to stop her, she was determined to go through with it!
Rafas felt helpless. Facing such a stubborn little wife, what could he do? He had told her countless times, and each time she obediently agreed. However, once he left for work, she would go out as usual and do whatever she wanted, completely disregarding his words!
He cupped her face in his hands and leaned down to lightly kiss her red lips, saying helplessly, "Darling, what should I do with you?"
Two days later, Yan Wushuang got up early and had the kitchen prepare chicken soup to take to the hospital for Annie's recovery. When Rafas woke up, he didn't see her around. It seemed he had been too ineffective last night, allowing her to have the ability to get up early.
The aroma of food wafted from the kitchen. As Rafas came downstairs, Yan Wushuang rushed into his arms with a smile on her face. "Lefas, you finally woke up."
Rafas caught her steadily and looked at her cheerful expression. He kissed her red lips lightly and asked, "I've never seen you get up so early. Is there something special today?"
Yan Wushuang pulled him toward the dining room and made him sit down. Soon, the servants prepared breakfast for them, including the freshly made chicken soup for him to drink and nourish his body.
"I have an appointment with Princess Anna today; I'm taking her out for lunch," Yan Wushuang said as she sat beside him and placed a bowl of fragrant chicken soup in front of him.
Upon hearing Anna's name, Rafas furrowed his brows tightly. He had told her countless times about this, yet she never seemed to take his words seriously.
He picked up a spoon to drink the soup; no matter how much he said, she wouldn't listen anyway. It was better to enjoy this delicious chicken soup.
Seeing that he wasn't speaking, Yan Wushuang quickly hooked her arm around his and rested her head on his shoulder in a submissive manner. "Lefas, I promised this two days ago. If I break my promise now, it would be bad for me and embarrassing for you."
Rafas paused for a moment, looked at her, and said helplessly, "Alright, just be careful. After you take her out for a meal, come back quickly. Don't stay out too long."
Yan Wushuang's eyes lit up as she nodded eagerly, and the two enjoyed a sweet breakfast together.
After seeing Rafas off, Yan Wushuang went upstairs to play with the two children for a while. Noticing it was almost eleven o'clock, she instructed the servant to prepare a portion of chicken soup for her to take to the hospital for Miss Smith.
The servant packed the chicken soup in an insulated container. After Yan Wushuang changed her clothes and went downstairs, she instructed Maya to take good care of the children before heading to the hospital where Annie was.
In the hospital room, Anna and Mrs. Smith were keeping Annie company. When they saw Yan Wushuang arrive, they smiled and greeted her, "We thought you weren't coming today!"
"The two kids were being mischievous, so I had to coax them for a while before I could come out. I happened to have some chicken soup made at home, so I brought some over for Annie to help her recover!" After placing the soup container on the table, Mrs. Smith stepped forward to open it and served a bowl to Annie.
"Wow, this soup smells amazing!" Annie exclaimed as she inhaled the aroma.
"If you like it, drink more! If it's not enough, I'll have the servant bring some more!" Seeing Annie finish a bowl of soup in no time, Yan Wushuang felt delighted.
Mrs. Smith glanced at the time and urged them both, "Aren't you two supposed to go out for lunch? You should hurry; it's already this late!"
Wushuang and Anna looked at the time and realized it was already half past eleven. They decided it was just right to head to the restaurant now.
"Mommy, we're leaving now. We'll leave Annie in your care!" After saying goodbye to Mrs. Smith, the two of them left the hospital together.
