A week later, the engagement banquet for Faisal and Ieyako was set at Mikomei Hotel.
Shouya left the base at three in the afternoon. Since Faisal was busy with the preparations for the engagement banquet, he entrusted some important matters at the base to Shouya. It was only after handling everything that Shouya finally left the base and drove to the small town, arriving at An Xin Ya's home.
On the way, Shouya had already called An Xin Ya to ask her to get ready.
When Shouya arrived at her house, he did not see An Xin Ya but was greeted by Grandma An, who came out of a room with a smile and said, "Xinya is getting ready; she'll be out soon. Please have a seat while I get you a glass of water."
"Thank you!" Shouya replied as he sat down patiently waiting. He glanced at his watch; there was still time before Faisal and Ieyako's engagement banquet, so there was no need to rush.
Grandma An brought out a glass of water and placed it on the table. She intended to chat with Shouya but heard her granddaughter's voice from inside the room saying, "Grandma..." It sounded like she was facing some difficulty, so Grandma An went back into the room.
Ten minutes later, An Xin Ya emerged from the room with Grandma An's assistance and entered the living room.
Shouya was amazed to see An Xin Ya wearing the pink dress he had chosen for her last time. Her long, black hair flowed down her back as usual, and although she wore little makeup—just a touch of blush—her skin remained fair as snow, sweet and beautiful.
"I’m entrusting my granddaughter to you; you must take good care of her, understand?" Grandma An began speaking to Shouya. This was her only granddaughter, and she would not allow any harm to come to her.
"Don't worry, Grandma. I will take good care of Xinya," Shouya assured her, his bright eyes looking at the slightly shy An Xin Ya as he stepped forward to support her. "Let's go!"
"Okay!" An Xin Ya nodded gently and then turned to Grandma An beside her, saying, "Grandma, I'm leaving now!"
"Be careful on your way!" Grandma An reminded them. However, seeing her with Shouya made her particularly happy. It was rare to find such a man who treated her granddaughter so well, caring for her in every detail. Naturally, she hoped for a good outcome between them.
Carefully supporting An Xin Ya down the stairs, her outfit attracted the attention of neighbors who exclaimed how beautiful she looked! The man beside her was even more handsome and elegant; they truly made a perfect pair—a golden boy and a jade girl!
Once seated in the passenger seat, An Xin Ya tightly gripped the seatbelt, unable to hide her excitement. Soon she would meet Wushuang and Yezi again. Since their last parting at the clothing store, she had missed them dearly.
Shouya drove towards Mikomei Hotel. The traffic was a bit congested since it was late afternoon during rush hour.
At a red light ahead, Shouya stopped the car and glanced at An Xin Ya. Noticing that she seemed a bit nervous, he reached out and held her hand reassuringly. "Don't be nervous or afraid; I'm here with you. I'll take care of you."
"Okay!" Although Brother Shouya said this and she felt comforted by his presence, she still felt nervous and scared inside. After all, it was her first time attending such a grand engagement banquet, not to mention being in such a lively setting—it was all new to her.
Upon arriving at Mikomei Hotel, Shouya opened the car door, quickly got out, and carefully assisted An Xin Ya out of the car before leading her into the hotel.
The spacious and bright interior was luxurious, with people from various circles gradually entering.
Although An Xin Ya's appearance did not astonish everyone, it did attract many curious glances. People were drawn to her sweet, pure, and elegant demeanor.
Shouya also felt the intense gazes from the men around him, becoming an object of jealousy.
Looking around, he still couldn't find Faisal. Where had he gone?
He glanced at An Xin Ya and then found a relatively quiet spot for them to sit down. After a while, he finally spotted Faisal and Yezi; they noticed him and An Xin Ya as well, walking hand in hand towards them.
Yezi was very happy to see An Xin Ya had arrived. She stepped forward, excitedly grasping her hand and smiling, "Xinya, I'm so glad you could come!"
"I'm happy too to see you all again," An Xin Ya replied, shaking Yezi's hand. Her palm was already sweaty, indicating her nervousness; after all, she was the main character today—the most beautiful bride.
Faisal noticed the girl next to Shouya. She was elegantly charming and somewhat resembled Miss Wushuang. He recalled Yezi mentioning that on the day she tried on wedding dresses, she met Shouya and a girl named An Xin Ya who looked very pretty but couldn’t see… Looking at An Xin Ya's hollow yet beautiful eyes without focus, he patted Shouya's shoulder with a hint of an ambiguous smile and said, "Why did you show up now? Let’s grab a drink later!"
"Sure!" Shouya readily agreed. Thinking of An Xin Ya beside him, he introduced her to Faisal, "Sharl, this is An Xin Ya! Xinya, this is my friend Faisal, the main character tonight."
Out of politeness, An Xin Ya looked straight ahead with a sweet smile and said, "Hello! Mr. Faisal, I’m An Xin Ya. I’m really glad to attend your engagement party with Ieyako. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together!"
"Thank you! Miss An, you look beautiful tonight!" Faisal complimented.
Shouya didn’t see Rafas or Yan Wushuang. He placed his hand on Faisal's shoulder and quietly asked, "Where are Lefas and Wushuang?"
"They were fine in their room earlier but then disappeared. I have no idea where they went; Lefas is also missing. I don’t know what those two are up to!" Faisal said with some frustration.
"Oh!" Shouya decided not to press further.
At that moment, Faisal's phone rang; it was Rafas calling. He looked up and smiled apologetically at Shouya and An Xin Ya, saying, "Excuse me! I need to take this call; please sit tight!"
Shouya watched as Faisal answered the phone and quickly turned away after just a few words.
"Ha ha, feel free, don't be polite! I'll go greet the other guests first," Ieyako said to them.
"Um, okay!" Shouya nodded with a smile, watching Ieyako greet the other guests. In just a short while, she disappeared from sight. He had a feeling something was happening, but he couldn't leave; he couldn't ignore An Xin Ya.
After sitting there for a long time, An Xin Ya finally couldn't hold back and asked, "Brother Shouya, why hasn't Wushuang come tonight?"
"Xinya, you've stumped me with that question. I secretly asked Faisal earlier, and Wushuang hasn't been seen since the banquet started. Her husband, who is also my other brother, hasn't been seen either. I wonder where they both went."
An Xin Ya felt a bit disappointed; she had hoped to see Wushuang during this opportunity, but things didn't go as planned.
Seeing the look of disappointment on her face, Shouya reached out and put his arm around her shoulders, comforting her by saying that not seeing Wushuang this time meant they could meet next time. He also told her that Wushuang's husband was quite strict with her; they were probably busy with something.
The engagement banquet ended at eleven o'clock at night. Throughout the event, Shouya hadn't seen Rafas or Yan Wushuang and wondered what they were up to.
After leaving Mikomei Hotel, Shouya drove An Xin Ya back to the town.
It was already late, and the town seemed a bit quiet. Unlike Las Vegas's city center, which was still bustling at this hour with people's nightlife just beginning.
Grandma An was already asleep. Shouya quietly took out his keys to open the door and carefully helped An Xin Ya inside.
Due to the dim light inside the house, Shouya couldn't see well and accidentally bumped into something. Losing his balance, he stumbled and fell to the ground with a thud. "Ouch..." A sharp pain shot through his back as he heard An Xin Ya exclaim "Oh!" and fall on top of him.
Shouya felt two soft and gentle things pressing against his lips, carrying a faint aroma of red wine mixed with cake cream. He remembered that An Xin Ya had eaten cream cake earlier that evening.
In the darkness, An Xin Ya pressed against Shouya; he could vaguely see the glimmer in her eyes as she felt his warm breath on her face, their lips tightly pressed together.
"Is that you, Xinya?" The lights in the inner room turned on as Grandma An heard the commotion and came down to check.
Hearing her grandmother's sleepy voice startled An Xin Ya; she quickly scrambled off Shouya. However, due to her long dress and high heels, she accidentally stumbled again and fell back onto Shouya.
At that moment, the lights turned on, illuminating the living room!
Grandma An sleepily saw her granddaughter Xinya lying on top of Shouya, frozen in place. Shouya looked quite embarrassed, unsure of what to do, and he inadvertently caught a glimpse of An Xin Ya's partially visible chest.
"Oh dear, you two... why haven't you gotten up yet? Why did you come back so late?" Grandma An had no intention of blaming them; instead, she felt secretly pleased and thought their relationship was progressing quite quickly.
An Xin Ya's cheeks were already flushed with embarrassment, her heart racing uncontrollably as she climbed off Shouya.
Shouya also got up from the ground and hurriedly helped An Xin Ya. He truly couldn't imagine that they had just kissed!
The feeling was so strange, making his heart race and leaving his mind blank.
"Grandma, let me explain. Just now, Brother Shouya and I actually didn't..." An Xin Ya thought her grandmother misunderstood and quickly clarified.
"No need to explain; I saw everything clearly," Grandma An said. "I witnessed it firsthand. An explanation is just a cover-up, and a cover-up is equivalent to the truth."
Shouya looked at An Xin Ya's flushed face, feeling awkward and unsure how to explain.
"Grandma, please rest assured. I will take responsibility for Xinya," Shouya stepped forward and said to Grandma An.
Grandma An glanced at Shouya and smiled, saying, "Not bad; that sounds reasonable!" She couldn't help but yawn, mentioning that she was tired and would go back to her room to rest.
"Grandma..." An Xin Ya felt anxious when she heard her grandmother walking back to her room. Although she couldn't see, she knew what had happened...
