"Shouya, calm down!" Jagana frowned, surprised by the situation. He thoughtfully said, "There must be something wrong; we need to have another discussion." 0

"This time, I will take the lead," Shouya insisted, looking at Jagana and all the doctors. 0

Jagana looked at him without speaking and called everyone in for a meeting. The meeting lasted nearly three hours, with everyone analyzing and discussing An Xin Ya's eye injury. 0

After the meeting concluded, Shouya immediately went to An Xin Ya's hospital room to check on her. She lay quietly, her eyes wide open, staring blankly ahead. 0

"Xinya!" Shouya approached the bedside and sat down in front of her, holding her hands tightly. He softly called out to her, feeling immense pain at seeing her like this; he truly did not want to see her in such a state. 0

"Brother Shouya, am I going to be blind forever? Is it my fate to be a blind person for life?" An Xin Ya asked hoarsely and dejectedly. No matter how many times she closed her eyes, when she opened them again, it was still darkness, just like before. 0

"No," Shouya frowned, looking at An Xin Ya with sorrowful eyes. 0

"I should have anticipated this outcome. Since this is the result, why go through with the surgery?" As she spoke, tears fell from An Xin Ya's eyes, slowly rolling down her cheeks and dripping onto the pillow. 0

"Xinya, listen to me..." 0

"I'm tired; I want to rest. Please go out for now," An Xin Ya said as she closed her eyes. She didn't want to hear any sounds; she just wanted to sleep quietly for a while. She was exhausted—truly exhausted. 0

Shouya looked at her with pain in his heart and reluctantly left the room so she could rest well. 0

Back in his office, Shouya slumped into his chair, leaning back against the backrest with his eyes closed. He felt physically and mentally drained, but for Xinya, he was willing to endure any fatigue; he would give anything for Xinya. 0

There must be something wrong; there must be a mistake somewhere; they just hadn't identified the problem yet. 0

Shouya took out all of An Xin Ya's reports and films again for analysis. 0

At that moment, Dr. Jagana knocked on his office door. Shouya looked up to see Jagana standing at the entrance and quickly invited him in. 0

Jagana sat down and noticed Shouya was busy reviewing ophthalmology materials; the desk was covered with An Xin Ya's reports and films. 0

"Shouya, I'm sorry!" Jagana said apologetically with a slight frown. 0

Hearing Jagana suddenly apologize to him, Shouya looked up in confusion and said, "There's no need to say sorry to me! It was just too rushed this time, and I didn't fully identify the problem, which led to this outcome." 0

Shouya knew he had been too eager. He had just examined An Xin Ya and was planning the surgery for the next day. Reflecting on this, he realized that it was his impatience that caused the situation. 0

The two of them set aside that topic in the office and began researching An Xin Ya's condition. This time, they did not rush into surgery as before but postponed it for a week. 0

An Xin Ya was currently feeling low and her emotions were unstable; sometimes she needed sedatives to calm her down. It was not possible to perform a second surgery on her in such a short time. In just a few days, she appeared thin and haggard. 0

Shouya had just walked out of the conference room and arrived at An Xin Ya's hospital room. He gently pushed the door open and saw her standing by the window, her back turned, looking desolate as she read. It made his heart ache. 0

Wearing a white hospital gown, An Xin Ya stood by the window enjoying the pleasant weather. With her keen hearing, she sensed someone entering; recognizing the familiar footsteps, she knew it was Brother Shouya. She did not turn around or call out to him. 0

As Shouya approached her, he noticed her pale complexion; she looked as white as paper with no color in her lips, which were cracked and showed clear fissures. He softly said to her, "Come inside; it's windy out here, and you might catch a cold." 0

Just as he was about to reach out to support her shoulder, she suddenly said, "Brother Shouya, can you take me for a walk in the courtyard downstairs?" 0

It was already late autumn; although there was heating here and it wasn't too cold, she still wanted to go outside for a walk. It had been a long time since she had breathed fresh air or felt the temperature outside. 0

Looking at her, Shouya couldn't bear to refuse and nodded in agreement, saying, "Wait here for me; I'll get you a coat." 0

"Okay!" An Xin Ya nodded lightly. 0

Then Shouya carefully helped her sit down by the bedside before returning to his office to fetch a coat. He soon returned to the hospital room and assisted her as they walked through the hospital corridor and took the elevator down to the courtyard. 0

Even though it was late autumn, many patients were still out walking. 0

Shouya draped the coat over An Xin Ya, whispering in her ear, "It's cold outside; wearing this will keep you warmer." 0

"Thank you, Brother Shouya," An Xin Ya replied with a slight smile. 0

She quietly listened to the autumn wind blowing past her ears, feeling a bit chilly. The sound of rustling leaves reached her ears while she stood on the soft grass below. This reminded her of autumns from her childhood. She wondered if this autumn felt the same as those from long ago. 0

The sounds of children playing, adults calling out, nurses advising patients, and the ringing of wheelchairs echoed nearby. 0

These wonderful sounds became somewhat pale as the patients in the hospital experienced loneliness and sadness, just like her. However, they had a desire to survive, wanting to stay in this world a little longer and see more. 0

For the past few days, she had almost lived in darkness, everything she heard and thought was completely contrary to her previous ideas. She felt as if she had been crushed, lying on the ground with no strength left to get up, her energy fading away. 0

"Brother Shouya, when are we going back to Las Vegas?" An Xin Ya slightly tilted her ear, her hollow eyes staring straight ahead, with a hint of sadness in her gaze as she suddenly asked. 0

She missed her grandmother; last night she dreamed of her grandmother, hearing her call out her name in her ear. 0

Upon hearing An Xin Ya's question, Shouya was momentarily taken aback. He furrowed his brow lightly and said, "Xinya, we plan to perform another eye surgery on you in a week." 0

An Xin Ya was stunned and felt quite surprised. Another surgery? But she had thought about a lot over the past few days; having already experienced one failure, she wasn't afraid of facing a second. She smiled, though there was a trace of bitterness in her smile. "What if it fails again?" 0

Shouya would not allow her to speak such discouraging words. He placed his hands on her shoulders and looked at her seriously with his deep black eyes. "There will be no failure. This time, I have conducted multiple thorough analyses with Jagana and the others and have performed numerous practical tests. We will definitely heal your eye injury and restore your vision." 0

An Xin Ya lowered her eyelids and smiled lightly. She had already come to terms with everything. However, seeing how well Brother Shouya treated her made her feel very touched and grateful; she didn't know how to express her thanks to him. 0

That night, all the staff had finished their shifts and left, leaving only two nurses on duty at the front desk. 0

An Xin Ya heard that it was quiet outside and knew it was already late at night. This was just their Medical and Experimental Center; all the patients were on the lower floors, while she was the only patient on this floor. 0

Shouya had just finished a research project and walked out of the laboratory. He went into the changing room, took off his sterile clothing, put on his regular clothes, and headed towards An Xin Ya's ward. 0

He thought she might be asleep. As he entered, he tucked her blanket in for her. To his surprise, she suddenly opened her eyes and called out to him: "Brother Shouya! It's so late; why haven't you gone back to the hotel to rest?" 0

An Xin Ya clearly knew that Brother Shouya had been staying at the center these past few days, always by her side without leaving her alone and taking great care of her. 0

"The hotel is too far from here, so I decided to stay in the hospital. This way, I can take care of you while also attending to other medical work," Shouya said as he sat beside her, reaching out to tuck away some hair that had fallen over her forehead with a smile. 0

"Isn't that tiring?" An Xin Ya asked with wide eyes, staring blankly ahead. "You should go back and rest; I can take care of myself alone. Besides, there's a nurse here. If anything happens, I can press the signal light next to my bed, and the nurse will come help me soon..." 0

"It's okay, I have a private suite here where I can stay temporarily, so I can come and keep you company," Shouya said softly, his gaze gentle as he looked at An Xin Ya lying in the hospital bed. 0

This was his Medical and Experimental Center, and naturally, he had a private suite. Every time he returned to New York, he would stay here. 0

"Can I go sit in your private suite?" An Xin Ya asked. She couldn't sleep now; although there were nurses on duty, lying here alone made her feel somewhat scared. 0

"Of course!" Shouya replied, then helped An Xin Ya get up. He took the coat from the sofa and draped it over her shoulders, supporting her as they walked out of the ward and into his private suite. 0

Shouya helped her sit down on the sofa, then went to the open kitchen to pour a glass of warm water. He sat beside her, took her hand, and placed the cup in her palm. 0

The room was luxurious and romantic, with furniture in a simple color adorned with light gold trim. In the center of the room, a small round table held a large bouquet of lilies, fresh and lovely. A gentle autumn breeze blew in through the window, dispersing the faint floral fragrance of the lilies and lifting the light blue curtains and matching bed drapes. The round bed glowed softly under the light, quiet and elegant... 0

An Xin Ya took the cup of water, said "thank you," and took a gentle sip. She could smell a faint jasmine fragrance wafting from his suite. 0

Sitting beside her, Shouya gazed tenderly at An Xin Ya. Although her vitality seemed low these past two days, her spirit and emotions had stabilized; she no longer lost control as she had before when tranquilizers were needed to calm her down. 0

Under the light, her skin was as white as snow, her eyebrows elegantly arched, and her eyes glistened with moisture but carried a hint of sadness. 0

"Xinya..." Shouya called out her name involuntarily as he looked at her. 0

"Mm?!" An Xin Ya widened her eyes slightly and tilted her ear in confusion as she responded. 0

Shouya didn't answer her but continued to gaze at this beautiful girl. He noticed her cracked lips were no longer plump and rosy like before; he longed to kiss them to give her some moisture. 0
