The air above the bathroom was filled with an ambiguous and decadent atmosphere.
After resting enough and the flush fading away, Shouya helped An Xin Ya up and they took another bath together. To his surprise, An Xin Ya actively helped him wash this time, and after finishing, she used a towel to dry off all the water droplets from him.
On the third day, they went to the workshop to pick up the customized bracelet they had ordered earlier. Shouya personally helped her put it on her right wrist and said to her with sparkling eyes, "It's really beautiful!"
The next day, they transferred back to Beijing, her true hometown. At that moment, it was raining in Beijing. Compared to Yunnan, this place felt serene and tranquil. Unlike the bright and noisy nights of Yunnan, although it was hot during the day there, the nights were generally cooler with a gentle breeze that felt very comfortable.
Thus, hand in hand, they walked down the streets of Beijing. Occasionally, they would catch a whiff of street food; she would pull him down to sit and eat like an innocent child. She told Shouya that this was where she came from, having lived in an orphanage in Beijing for nearly six years, which gave her a deep emotional connection to this place.
Shouya was well aware of An Xin Ya's background but chose not to speak, quietly listening as she shared her story.
The next day during the daytime, the sun came out, but the weather in Beijing remained quite cold. They bought many toys and went to the orphanage where Xinya had been adopted previously to donate them to the children there.
It had been over ten years since she last returned; so much had changed. Most of the teachers had been replaced, and he heard that the director had passed away two years ago. The orphans here were cycled through—some were adopted while others remained without parents and entered society to work...
At the orphanage, they played games with the children, told them stories, and even made dumplings together. Until sunset, they were sent out of the orphanage by a young director who held their hands and expressed many words of gratitude.
An Xin Ya stood quietly at the entrance of the orphanage, exhaling white mist as she said, "This place raised me for six whole years; this was my first home."
Shouya reached out and tightly embraced her while looking up at the orphanage. He softly said to her, "Let's go back!"
Then they walked on the snow, making crisp sounds underfoot as they returned to Junlaiyue Grand Hotel.
Sitting in the taxi, An Xin Ya silently gazed out at the scenery outside the window. It had been over ten years since she last returned; everything had truly changed.
She suddenly said, "I really want to know who my biological parents are and where they are now."
Silent Shouya heard her words and reached out to hold her cold hand, uncertainly asking, "Do you really want to know about your biological parents?"
An Xin Ya turned to look at him, then nodded and said, "Yes. I really want to know."
She knew it was wrong to have such thoughts, but after losing her adoptive father and Empress, her heart was shattered, and she desperately needed to have a warm family again. Or perhaps she just wanted to know why they abandoned her—was there some hardship behind it?
Shouya didn't say anything. He embraced her and after a moment said, "I think I can help you find them."
"Really?" An Xin Ya wasn't that excited; her emotions seemed calm. In his arms, she gently asked, not minding if they couldn't be found. So many years had passed; they might no longer be alive or might have moved away. There were many possibilities!
An Xin Ya felt an immense warmth. She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and saw that it had started snowing outside—such heavy snow! She really wanted to go out and have a snowball fight, but Brother Shouya wouldn't allow it, fearing she would catch a cold.
Shouya made a phone call to the hotel for two dinners, a bottle of red wine, and some fruit.
Before long, the hotel staff brought the dinner he ordered and laid everything out on the table.
Xinya continued to stand by the window watching the snow fall outside. Her curious expression was adorable; she looked like someone who had never seen snow before. It was also because she had just regained her sight not long ago and felt great interest in everything.
"Xinya, stop looking outside; it's time to eat," Shouya told her.
Hearing Shouya call her name, she turned around, untied the scarf around her neck, took off her coat, and walked over to the dining table. She glanced at the spread: two servings of steak and two glasses of red wine—the red liquid looked quite tempting.
Shouya was cutting the steak into pieces beside her and then placed it in front of her, saying, "Go ahead and eat!"
Xinya wasn't very good at using a knife and fork; she had always been accustomed to using chopsticks. So whenever it came to eating Western food with a knife and fork, Shouya would teach her or help her directly.
She happily picked up the fork and started eating the steak, then toasted with Shouya, taking a light sip of red wine. Just a little made her feel a bit dizzy.
She couldn't handle alcohol well; even a small amount would get her quite drunk. Plus, she didn't particularly like the taste of steak. Next to her was a steaming bowl of fried sauce noodles, a perfectly fried egg with a crispy exterior and tender inside, along with a small jar of pickled olives. She thought it was wonderful!
After having another glass, she saw Shouya downing his entire glass of red wine. Following his example, she finished her own glass and felt the world spinning around her. It took her a while to regain her composure and steady herself.
Shouya looked at her flushed face and smiled, saying, "If you can't handle it, don't force yourself!"
She chuckled but didn't respond, instead picking grapes from the fruit basket and popping them into her mouth.
But in the next moment, Shouya pressed his lips against hers. She initially thought he wanted to take her wine glass away, but she didn't expect him to be so swift. His tongue was intoxicating.
The grape in her mouth was bitten into his mouth and then swallowed.
"This tastes really good!" Shouya said with a charming smile.
Xinya blushed and replied, "But it has my saliva."
"Have I not had enough of your saliva?" Shouya said with an evil grin on his handsome face.
Then Shouya embraced her, kissing her lips while unbuttoning her clothes. Her beautiful skin was exposed to the air, radiating a sweet fragrance.
They made love again and again on the sofa in the living room, right next to the glass coffee table, propping themselves up with their arms. With each thrust, she accidentally knocked the fruit basket off the table, sending all the fruits rolling onto the floor. At the peak of their passion, she even knocked over a glass of red wine, staining the floor with the crimson liquid.
After their passionate encounter, An Xin Ya buried her head in his shoulder, tracing circles on his body with her fingers. Her eyes sparkled with light, and a faint smile played on her lips. Suddenly, she said to the half-closed-eyed Shouya, "Brother Shouya, I love you!"
What was happening to her? Why did she suddenly say that? However, hearing those three words from her mouth filled Shouya with surprise. It was the first time he had heard it, and it was also the first time she had said it to him. He opened his eyes wide and smiled, saying, "That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard. Thank you, Xinya!"
The next morning, they left Beijing and returned to Las Vegas. Pulling their luggage into the airport parking lot, Shouya parked his car in front of her, got out, and took her luggage to put it in the trunk. Then Xinya sat in the passenger seat.
Although it was late autumn, the sky was a brilliant sapphire blue.
On the way, An Xin Ya made a phone call to tell her grandmother that she had landed and was on her way back to the small town.
Upon returning to the small town, Shouya carried their luggage upstairs with An Xin Ya and knocked on the door.
Grandma An quickly opened the door. Seeing them back from their trip, her face lit up with smiles as she urged them to come inside and rest. "Why are you back so soon? Didn't you have more fun planned?"
Xinya had originally wanted to take her along on the trip. Although she wanted to visit China again, she thought about her age and how her old bones couldn't handle too much jostling, so she decided against it. Besides, she hoped that they could go together; it would help nurture their relationship.
"Traveling is fun but also quite tiring; home is more comfortable because Grandma is here."
This made Grandma An beam with joy; she felt delighted by such sweet words from this child.
Grandma An eagerly opened her package and took out many gifts and some local specialties—all brought back from China for her.
Seeing these items made Grandma smile even wider. Although she couldn't return to her hometown this time, these things brought a sense of familiarity and warmth.
Grandma saw them just getting off the plane, her face showing undeniable fatigue. She figured they must be hungry, so she went back to the kitchen to prepare something for them.
Shouya hadn't even had a chance to eat at Xinya's house when he received a call from Faisal, saying there was an urgent meeting and he needed to return to the base immediately.
Having just returned, he now had to rush back to the base, which left Shouya feeling exhausted. There was no other choice; after bidding farewell to Xinya and Grandma An, he hurried downstairs and drove away.
Upon arriving at the base, Faisal began to interrogate him, complaining that he was handling everything alone and was nearly worn out.
In reality, it wasn't a crucial meeting. Although Rafas was present, it was just some trivial matters that needed Faisal's attention. His wife, Yan Wushuang, had recently given birth to twins, and he was busy attending to her and the children.
As Rafas was leaving the base, he informed them that in a week it would be his children's one-month celebration, which would be held at Hilton Hotel. He hoped they would definitely attend.
"Is that true? That's wonderful! I will definitely be there," An Xin Ya said. Today she received a call from Yan Wushuang inviting her to Hilton Hotel for the celebration of her two children. Hearing this news made her very excited; it had been a long time since she last saw Wushuang. She wanted to take this opportunity to see Wushuang and Yezi, as well as her two adorable children.
That day, Shouya drove An Xin Ya to Azure Restaurant to enjoy seafood and let her experience a romantic atmosphere.
"Brother Shouya, in a few days Wushuang's children will have their celebration at Hilton Hotel. You'll come too, right?" An Xin Ya said while eating.
"I..." Shouya hesitated for a moment, then looked up at her and said, "I might not be able to attend."
