"You're welcome." Morina looked out the car window at a two-story villa, styled in Portuguese architecture with a Baroque influence, luxurious yet understated. A cold smile crept onto his lips; he would ensure that An Xin Ya lived even more lavishly in the future.
"Is this your home?" Just as Xinya was about to push open the car door to get out, Morina asked again.
"Yes, this is my home with Shouya," An Xin Ya replied with a slight smile, then waved goodbye to him, gently closing the door and walking toward the entrance.
That statement felt like an invisible arrow piercing his chest, causing him immense pain.
Looking out the window again, he watched Xinya's figure as she returned home, her skirt fluttering in the wind, giving off a refreshing vibe.
An Xin Ya held a bouquet of roses as she entered the house. Hearing the sound of the car driving away behind her, she turned to see Morina's car leaving, and only then did she truly breathe a sigh of relief.
Back inside, she noticed the roses on the glass coffee table and glanced at the flowers in her hand. She had no choice but to trim them and place them back into the vase.
Looking at these roses, An Xin Ya couldn't help but sigh. She hoped that Morina's gift of roses was merely a gesture of friendship between them, yet her unease grew stronger by the minute.
She didn't know when Brother Shouya would return. Before he came back, she absolutely couldn't let him see these roses; otherwise, he would explode in anger and order her to throw them in the trash.
He had promised to give her roses, but despite his words, there had been no real action taken, which left her deeply disappointed.
Staying alone in this empty house made Xinya feel lonely and desolate. She decided to change into another outfit and took the bus back to town. Whenever she saw neighbors on the street, she would greet them warmly. Here, she felt a sense of belonging because she had lived here for over ten years and had deep emotional ties to the place.
She initially wanted to bring her grandmother over to live with her, but her grandmother refused, saying she was used to living there and feared that adapting to a new environment might cause problems due to unfamiliarity.
Xinya couldn't argue with her grandmother's wishes and decided to let it be. Whenever she had time, she would visit her grandmother.
Grandma An smiled widely when she saw Xinya arrive, but she noticed that Shouya was not with her and asked her curiously, "Why didn't Shouya come?"
"He went abroad for some important matters," Xinya replied lightly as she walked into the house.
Grandma An didn’t say anything. It was understandable that a man would prioritize his career. He had already put in a lot of effort, time, and emotion for Xinya's eyes.
No matter what, she would always think from Shouya's perspective as her granddaughter's husband.
That night, An Xinya didn’t go back to sleep alone but stayed with her grandmother. Without Brother Shouya there, the empty house felt eerily quiet. At least here, she could cuddle with her grandmother, feeling her breath and warmth...
As the morning sunlight streamed in, An Xinya frowned slightly and opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the white ceiling, and she could hear her grandmother bustling around in the kitchen.
After getting up and washing up in the bathroom, she had breakfast made by her grandmother before leaving the small town and walking to Maria Music Training Class. In just a few months, she would graduate and be able to find a job and become independent.
"Sister Anxi, who was that man yesterday?" As soon as Xinya arrived at Maria Music Training Class, she ran into Yuga, who immediately asked her this question, followed by a series of inquiries: "Also, why did he give you roses? Does he like you? Is he trying to pursue you?"
Xinya was taken aback for a moment before smiling and saying, "He is Mr. Morina, a good friend of Sister Anxi." She couldn’t tell anyone that he was His Royal Highness, the Third Prince of the United Kingdom.
As for the subsequent questions, she didn’t know how to respond. The scene from yesterday indeed raised suspicions; as soon as she entered Maria Music Training Class, all her classmates looked at her with astonished expressions as if they were watching a monkey, making her feel uncomfortable all over.
"A friend? You may see him as a friend, but he might not want you to see him that way," Yuga said sincerely. She genuinely disliked the man named Morina; he exuded an aura of dominance and seemed very calculating.
Xinya was stunned again. Even children could see what he was thinking, while she hoped it wasn’t true and wished Morina would treat her like a friend.
"I still prefer Uncle Shouya. He’s amazing! With his hands, he managed to help you regain your sight; it shows how deeply he cares for you!" Yuga didn’t forget to speak up for Uncle Shouya, and what she said was all true.
She didn't say anything more. Yes, Brother Shouya was both her benefactor and her lover; he was the person she loved most in this life, and her feelings for him would never change.
That afternoon, after finishing her piano lesson, An Xin Ya walked out of the Maria Music Training Class, once again seeing the Lincoln car parked outside.
She knew Morina was waiting for her again. Pretending not to see, she lowered her head and walked in another direction.
"Xinya..." She couldn't escape Morina's sharp gaze. Xinya froze, her heart trembling as she turned around to see Morina standing behind her. Not knowing what to say, she could only smile awkwardly.
Morina put his hands in his pockets and walked up to her, his eyes filled with gentle amusement as he looked at her. "Xinya, why do you run away when you see me?"
He had already seen her from the car. She had noticed his vehicle and deliberately pretended not to see it, quickening her pace to walk away.
He knew she was trying to avoid him, but he allowed it. He opened the car door and got out, quickly calling out to her to see where she would hide.
"I... I didn't run away from you," Xinya stammered. She felt extremely nervous and scared inside. Why was he here? This left her feeling at a loss. The aura he exuded made it hard for her to breathe. She wanted to turn and leave, but it felt as if her feet were glued to the ground; she couldn't move.
Because he was Your Highness, she didn't dare offend him easily.
Today, he didn't bring her roses but instead invited her to dinner. He said that since she had something to do yesterday and he couldn't invite her then, he wanted to make it up today.
This left Xinya speechless; she could only passively get into his car. Just like yesterday, she sat there stiffly like a puppet, her palms sweaty just as they had been before.
"Xinya, you seem very nervous when you see me. Am I that scary? If you're afraid of me because I'm a British prince, I hope you can set aside that identity and talk with me like friends," Morina said, his sword-like brows furrowing as he looked at An Xin Ya. "Your demeanor makes me quite uneasy."
An Xin Ya glanced at him and felt that this man was warm and gentle like jade. His earlier words eased much of the tension in her heart. Perhaps it was because she cared too much about his identity as Your Highness that made her feel so nervous and scared.
"Yes, Mr. Morina," An Xin Ya said respectfully.
"You made a mistake again, Xinya," Morina frowned again.
"Ah, what mistake?" Xinya became nervous, her eyes filled with panic as she looked at him, asking in surprise.
"My name is Morina. You always forget how to address me. Calling me Mr. Morina feels distant, and I don't like that feeling at all," Morina said frankly. He was very happy to see this beautiful woman every day, and if he could get closer to her, he would be extremely excited.
However, this couldn't be rushed. There's an old saying in China: "Haste makes waste." One should seek speed through stability and win with one move.
Louisiana Restaurant
The black wooden floor, deep brown wooden furniture, vintage ceiling fans, blue tableware, vibrant hand-painted murals, nostalgic photographs, and local "specialties."
Posters of jazz music, record covers, and of course, the ever-present jazz music swirling around the restaurant—all of these created a rich and genuine atmosphere reminiscent of Louisiana.
Sitting by the window, Morina flipped through the menu and asked An Xin Ya sitting across from him what she wanted to eat. Xinya smiled; she didn't know what to choose since it was her first time dining in such a high-end place.
Morina had no choice but to take the initiative and ordered two servings of red wine grilled steak, Louisiana-style seafood stew, and a bottle of red wine.
Once everything was served at the table, they ate while chatting, but it was mostly Morina asking Xinya various questions while Xinya responded with "uh-huh" or "yes."
At that moment, her phone rang, breaking their conversation. She took it out and saw that it was Shouya calling. A gentle smile appeared on her face as she answered with a soft "Hello."
"Xinya, have you missed me?" Shouya's voice came through the phone directly asking her.
"Mm!" She hesitated to respond due to Prince Morina's presence, so she could only reply like this.
"I really miss you. Once I'm done with my work, I'll hurry over to Las Vegas to see you."
"Mm, great! When will you be done?" An Xin Ya smiled upon hearing that he would be back, her eyes curving like a crescent moon.
"It'll be soon. Oh, by the way, how old were you when you were sent to the orphanage? Did you give anything important to the director or other teachers when you left?" Shouya suddenly asked.
"Um..." An Xin Ya rolled her eyes as she thought about it and replied, "I think it was when I was less than two months old. I'm not sure; the director and the teachers never told me. When my adoptive mother took me away, she only brought my clothes and some other daily necessities, nothing else..."
"Oh!"
"Why are you suddenly asking me these questions?" An Xin Ya blinked in confusion.
"Nothing much, just curious. I have other matters to attend to; I'll call you again when I have time."
"Okay, bye!" After hanging up the phone, An Xin Ya felt a sense of happiness, and her previous loneliness faded away.
Morina knew who had called Xinya, but he was currently busy in China and had no idea that at this moment, he was having dinner with the woman he loved. Before long, he would create more opportunities to ask Xinya out.
