The alarm rang, and I opened my sleepy eyes. My legs felt heavy as if filled with lead, struggling to get up, and my whole body ached.
It was eight in the morning, and I needed to go to the company at two in the afternoon to edit videos. After having breakfast, I grabbed my workout clothes and headed to the gym.
Yesterday, Sister Jihyo recommended a gym that was not far away.
In the morning, there were very few people at the gym. I changed my clothes and found a spot by the side, adjusting the treadmill to a suitable speed.
After a while, more people started to arrive, and the treadmill next to me was turned on.
Anna wore headphones and listened to music, feeling somewhat uneasy as if someone beside her was watching.
Turning her head in confusion, she was greeted by three handsome faces that broke into bright smiles.
"What are you guys doing here?" Anna exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise, nearly stumbling on her feet. She had thought that she might encounter celebrities at the gym recommended by Sister Jihyo, but she never expected her first encounter would be with EXO...
There were Wu Shixun, Park Chan-yeol, and Jin Jong-in, all looking bright-eyed and tilting their heads at her.
"Are you Andy's sister?" Wu Shixun asked.
Andy was Anna's younger brother, who had once been a trainee at S.M. However, he had disappeared for two years after not being selected during the EXO auditions.
Anna had searched for him for a long time but had received no news.
"Have you seen me before?" Anna was confused; aside from seeing them on television, she didn't know they could recognize her.
"You met when you came to the company to find Andy," Jin Jong-in said with a smile.
Andy stopped the treadmill, bowed, and greeted them, "It's nice to see you all. I'm Andy's sister, Anna Zheng."
"Hello," the three of them bowed in return.
"I'm only two hours older than Andy, so you can just call me Anna."
"Okay," they replied.
"By the way, what is Andy doing now after leaving the company?" Chan-yeol asked.
As everyone returned to the treadmill, they continued chatting.
"Andy...," Anna paused for a moment, unsure of how to bring it up. If they found out that Andy had been missing for so long due to not being selected, it would surely make them uncomfortable. After thinking for a bit, she said, "He went abroad."
"To work? Wow, that's impressive. No wonder we can't reach him now," Sehun exclaimed. "But Miss Anna, why are you at this gym? It's usually where celebrities come. Are you planning to become an artist too? Have you already filmed a drama that we don't know about?"
"Not at all. Sister Jihyo recommended that I come here."
"Huh? Sister Jihyo? How do you know her?" Jin Jong-in asked.
"Sorry," Anna said with an apologetic smile, "I’m currently the FD for RM, so that’s how I know Sister Jihyo."
"RM? Aren't we supposed to be on that show soon?" Jin Jong-in asked Chan-yeol.
"Yeah, what a coincidence," Chan-yeol replied with a smile.
"Miss Anna is really impressive," Wu Shixun said.
"Not at all," Anna recalled the scenes from the first day of filming yesterday and felt a bit disheartened. "I still have a long way to go; I need to work hard."
"Excuse me, can I interrupt?" A girl's voice suddenly appeared next to Anna.
Anna looked over in confusion. The girl seemed to be around her age, with a hint of mixed heritage in her alluring features. She was strikingly beautiful, with a curvy figure and long, wavy blonde hair. Although she had a somewhat proud demeanor, her face made it seem completely unpretentious.
"Could you let me use this machine?" the girl asked.
Anna instinctively nodded, thinking it wasn't a big deal. The girl must have her reasons, so she said goodbye to Chan-yeol and the others and went elsewhere.
She glanced back at their figures and found it a bit strange but didn’t dwell on it.
"Anna." It was Ji-hyo's voice.
"Sister Jihyo." Anna happily walked over.
"You came so early, let's go, we can ride bikes," Ji-hyo said.
"Sure," Anna replied.
"Have you seen a lot of artists here?" Ji-hyo asked.
"Yes," Anna nodded.
"Brother Jae-seok and Haha Brother come here occasionally. You'll meet them in the future."
"I just want to work on my fitness so I can run as long as you do."
Ji-hyo smiled and said, "For a show like RM that requires high-intensity stamina, I struggled at first too. But you can't expect special treatment just because you're a woman. Many times, you need to put in more effort than the male members to gain the audience's recognition. Just like you, Anna, you have to work twice as hard to earn everyone's approval. Brother Jae-seok once said that when it rains, we should hope for it to rain harder so the audience can see how hard we are trying."
When it rains, let it rain harder so that the audience can see our efforts.
We must present our best efforts to the audience who expect and love us.
Anna recalled this saying and remembered how she often felt moved to tears while watching Yoo Jae-suk's shows. They would run through storms, in mud, and despite injuries, disregarding their glamorous outfits and hairstyles, smiling and running just to bring laughter to the viewers in front of their TVs. Or perhaps they simply didn't want to disappoint those who liked them. So even if the show wasn't always funny or successful, the audience would point out flaws but wouldn't be overly harsh. Because who could bear to hurt those who desperately want to bring joy to everyone?
"I understand now; I can definitely do it!" Anna said. "Thank you, Sister Jihyo."
