"No! We're late!" My fist slammed hard against the wall, producing a dull thud.
"Ah!" Suddenly, Li Na let out a cry, pointing at a small door in the corner of the room, her voice trembling as she said, "What is that?"
I followed Li Na's finger and saw that the small door was slightly ajar, a faint light seeping through the crack, accompanied by a series of suppressed whimpering sounds.
A surge of hope filled my heart. Without thinking further, I dashed forward and forcefully pushed the door open. Inside a cramped storage room, a girl was bound hand and foot, her mouth taped shut, curled up in the corner and shivering. She had multiple injuries on her body, her clothes were tattered, and her eyes were filled with fear and despair.
"Don't be afraid, we are the police!" I quickly stepped forward and used the dagger I always carried to cut the ropes binding the girl and tore off the tape from her mouth.
The girl seemed to grasp onto a lifeline and suddenly threw herself into my arms, crying out loud.
"Don't be afraid, it's okay now." I gently patted her back and comforted her softly.
"Chen Ge... be careful..." The girl suddenly looked up, her eyes wide with terror as she pointed behind me, her voice shaky.
Without time to think, I turned around abruptly but felt a cold flash in front of me. A hand wearing a light yellow Rubber Glove suddenly grabbed my neck, an immense force slammed me against the wall. I immediately felt breathless, darkness creeping into my vision.
"It's you..." I managed to squeeze out a few words through clenched teeth. The man in front of me, wearing a grotesque mask, was the very killer we had been desperately pursuing!
"Cough cough..." I coughed violently, using my hands to pull at the hand gripping my neck in an attempt to break free, but it was futile. The killer's strength was surprisingly great; my struggles seemed like nothing more than a mayfly trying to shake a tree. He smirked cruelly at me and whispered in my ear, "Captain Chen, long time no see. I didn't expect to meet you like this."
As he spoke, he tightened his grip further. My consciousness began to blur, and the world around me grew darker. Just when I thought I was about to suffocate, the killer suddenly released his grip. I collapsed weakly onto the ground, gasping for fresh air as my chest heaved violently from the effort.
"Cough cough... you..." I pointed at the killer but couldn't speak due to lack of oxygen.
The killer looked down at me from above with mockery and derision in his eyes. He pulled out a photograph from his pocket and tossed it in front of me. The photo showed a young and beautiful woman—Li Na!
"What do you want!" I struggled to get up but was pinned down by the killer's foot on my chest. He crouched down and pressed the photo against my face with a chilling tone, saying, "If you don't want her to die, just obediently do as I say..."
"If you dare touch even a hair on her head, I will never let you go!" I glared at the killer with rage and forced those words through clenched teeth.
"Hahaha..." The killer laughed as if he had heard something amusing. His laughter echoed in the empty room, sounding particularly harsh. "Captain Chen, it seems you've misunderstood the current situation; you have no right to negotiate with me!"
As he spoke, he stood up and scanned every corner of the room before finally resting his gaze on the girl tied to the chair. He walked over to her and gently stroked her cheek with his hand, speaking softly, "Little sister, don't be afraid; uncle won't hurt you as long as you behave..."
The girl shook her head in terror, trying to evade his touch but had nowhere to escape. She could only watch helplessly as he pressed a sharp dagger against her neck.
"Stop!" I shouted with all my might.
