When I was discharged from the hospital, Wang Zhan had difficulty moving. I helped him into the car. Marin looked at me and curiously asked, "Jiang Wan, is that Dr. Jiang your boyfriend?" "Not yet," I replied. Marin nodded thoughtfully. Wang Zhan sat in the back and didn't say a word during the ride. He had been like this for the past few days since leaving the hospital. Occasionally, when Marin sent him messages, he rarely replied. I had gotten used to it and didn't pay much attention.
I moved my work to his house. Xu Zheng would chat with me under the pretext of asking about his condition. We gradually became more familiar with each other. Ma Jia would also come over. The three of them discussed their plans for an original design online store in the living room. "I think Jiang Wan would be a great fit as our model," Ma Jia suggested. "I agree," Marin chimed in. Wang Zhan coldly said, "No." Ma Jia sighed helplessly and turned to me with a shrug. I smiled lightly. It was okay; I no longer fell into self-doubt because of Wang Zhan's words.
In the evening, I video-called my mom. She gently reminded me, "Wanwan, you can't force feelings." "Mom, I don't think I like Wang Zhan as much as I used to," I said. My mom was taken aback: "What did you say?" I looked at her and repeated, "I don't think I like him as much as I used to." "I've been thinking these past few days whether my feelings for Wang Zhan were just a habit."
"Mom, I think I've managed to get out of it."
Mom was silent for a moment and then smiled, "That's really great."
"I'm just afraid you won't be able to get out of it yourself."
"We deserve better boys."
"Yeah."
I nodded.
"By the way, how's it going with the Dr. Jiang you introduced to Yuan Yuan?"
"Just okay, we're still in the getting-to-know-each-other stage."
"Alright."
I hung up the phone and turned around to see Wang Zhan standing behind me.
He looked at me expressionlessly.
Finally, Xu Zheng and I were together.
We were about to go on our first date.
I specifically chose a pretty dress.
I felt a bit nervous and a bit excited.
Xu Zheng took off his white coat and changed into a casual shirt,
his demeanor clean and handsome.
I was surprised to find that Yuan Yuan's cousin was so good-looking.
"This dress looks great," Xu Zheng said with a smile.
"I think you should wear less."
"Huh?"
I was confused.
What did he mean by that?
"Because you're too beautiful."
My face instantly turned red.
This sweet talk was too sweet!
Yuan Yuan was right; Xu Zheng really knew how to charm.
It was very hot today.
I wanted to drink a Chocolate Frappuccino.
Xu Zheng ran to the store entrance several meters away,
stood in line for dozens of minutes, and got it for me.
Looking at him drenched in sweat,
I smiled and handed him a tissue. "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
He wiped the sweat off his face, smiling like a child.
"I'm really happy to buy you milk tea."
I felt flattered by him.
The feeling of being cared for by a boyfriend is truly warm.
Yuan Yuan, upon hearing this, looked incredulous.
"My cousin isn't this good to me!"
I laughed and said, "Are you jealous?"
"I am jealous."
"Alright then."
"It seems my cousin really cares about you."
"Right?"
I smiled.
Xu Zheng seemed to understand girls well.
He probably knew what kind of skincare products suited which type of girl.
"Your skin should be combination skin."
"Yes."
"You tend to get acne on your face."
"Yes."
"Then you need to watch your diet and avoid staying up late."
"Okay."
"But it’s alright; even if your face is full of acne, I would still kiss you."
