The chef of the Qin Family was specially hired, renowned for his culinary skills and adept in various cuisines. The dishes on the table were exquisite and delicious.
Shu Ran took small bites of her meal, watching as Old Qin and Grandpa Zhang filled her bowl with food, a warm feeling rising in her heart.
At that moment, the restaurant door suddenly swung open, and everyone at the table turned to look. Shu Ran also turned her head.
A newcomer entered wearing an Armani spring-summer collection top, one hand casually tucked into his pocket, his demeanor relaxed as he slowly scanned the restaurant.
Suddenly, he locked eyes with a pair of familiar clear eyes, and he was taken aback with surprise.
Old Qin cleared his throat and said in a slightly authoritative tone, "Qin Xian, what are you doing? This is your Grandpa Zhang, and this is Grandpa Zhang's granddaughter, Shu Ran."
Only then did Qin Xian put away his lazy expression and adopt a slightly serious demeanor.
"Hello, Grandpa Zhang. I am Qin Xian."
Grandpa Zhang quickly praised him, "Good, good, good! What a nice child. Come sit down and eat."
Qin Xian stood in front of the table, his eyes filled with smiles as he looked at Shu Ran across from him and slowly extended his hand. "Hello, I am Qin Xian."
Shu Ran slowly stood up and extended her hand in return. "Hello, I am Shu Ran."
The two shook hands.
Qin Xian took a seat, and the servant promptly added a set of chopsticks for him.
Old Qin spoke up beside him, "So, not busy today? Finally remembered to come see your old man?"
Qin Xian understood that his grandfather had become more childlike as he aged.
Qin Xian did not respond, merely picking up a piece of food with his chopsticks and gently coaxing, "This dish is good for your health, you should eat more."
Old Qin let out a "humph," sounding like he was still upset, but he picked up some food from the bowl with his chopsticks and began to eat slowly.
Grandpa Zhang looked at Old Qin's demeanor and shook his head with a smile, "Old Qin, you have a sharp tongue but a soft heart. The kids are busy with their careers these days; it's not easy for them. We old folks shouldn't bother them too much. As long as they have the heart to show us respect, that's enough."
After being persuaded by his old friend, Old Qin thought about it and felt it made sense, so he stopped being difficult.
At the dining table, Shu Ran quietly ate her meal without making a sound.
Old Qin turned to look at her and suddenly became interested, asking, "Hey, Lao Zhang, how old is your granddaughter?"
Grandpa Zhang stroked his chin and thought for a moment before answering, "Our Shu Ran is 25 years old this year."
Old Qin instantly felt in a good mood; if she couldn't be a granddaughter, she could be a granddaughter-in-law.
Old Qin secretly calculated in his mind and focused his gaze on Shu Ran, throwing out several questions in succession: "Shu Ran, what do you do for work? Do you have a boyfriend?"
Shu Ran was focused on her meal when the topic suddenly shifted to her. She was a bit confused but regained her composure and replied, "Um, I'm working as a teacher. I don't have a boyfriend at the moment."
As she answered this question, Shu Ran noticed Qin Xian across from her glance at her with a teasing expression.
Shu Ran did not understand his meaning.
Old Qin could hardly contain his excitement; this young girl was impressive in every way. She was good-looking, smart, and not impulsive—such girls are rare nowadays.
Thinking about this, he asked again, "Shu Ran, are you interested in finding a boyfriend? Grandpa Qin knows many excellent young men who are quite nice; I can introduce you to a few."
Old Qin thought to himself that the most outstanding one among them was definitely his grandson.
Grandpa Zhang understood Old Qin's intentions well after years of friendship. Knowing there was no ill will, Grandpa Zhang could only smile helplessly.
Shu Ran looked embarrassed and replied, "Uh, no thank you, Grandpa Qin, I appreciate your kindness."
Qin Xian watched the situation with amusement, a smile playing on his lips. After a moment, he casually eased the tension for Shu Ran, saying, "Grandpa, your birthday is coming up in a few days. How do you plan to celebrate?"
Old Qin then shifted his focus to his birthday arrangements.
Shu Ran sighed in relief and looked up at Qin Xian with gratitude.
Qin Xian beamed with a smile, accepting her thanks openly.
...
After finishing their meal, Grandpa Zhang and Shu Ran prepared to take their leave.
Old Qin, reluctant to let them go, insisted on getting Shu Ran's phone number, urging her to come visit often and inviting her to his birthday celebration.
He was like a child.
Shu Ran had no choice but to agree.
As Qin Xian was about to see them off, Old Qin asked him to stay behind for a moment, wanting to discuss something with him.
He then entrusted his personal aide, Uncle Jiang, to take them home.
Uncle Jiang opened the car door for Grandpa Zhang and Shu Ran, who got in.
Old Qin waved goodbye to them.
The car started and slowly disappeared from their sight.
Old Qin stood at the door, watching them leave, then turned around and walked back inside.
Qin Xian followed behind him, moving at a leisurely pace.
When they reached the living room, Old Qin was already sitting in a chair waiting for him. Qin Xian yawned and lazily took a seat.
"How is the situation with the Xu Family resolved?" Unlike the amiable Grandpa Qin from earlier, Old Qin now appeared somewhat serious.
"We've basically identified everyone involved in this incident, and it's been dealt with."
Just as Old Qin was about to relax, Qin Xian added, "However, I still feel that there's something more complicated behind this matter."
Old Qin nodded; he had always trusted this grandson of his, who was decisive in his actions and carried the demeanor of the Qin Family.
"Always keep your guard up; it's better to be cautious."
"Mm."
"By the way," Old Qin suddenly remembered, "what do you think of that young girl today?"
Qin Xian countered, "What do you mean by 'what do you think'?"
Old Qin shot him a glare. "What do you think about her becoming your wife?"
Qin Xian suddenly laughed. "You don't need to worry about my matters. If you're really bored, I can invite a few Go masters to come over and play with you tomorrow."
Old Qin scoffed, "What's the point in that? You should play Go with someone of similar skill level; only then can you improve together. Forget it, forget it. I shouldn't have mentioned it since you wouldn't understand."
"Just remember, I think this girl is pretty good. If you ever want to get married, consider her. Even if it doesn't work out, at least find someone similar to her. Don't go looking for some third-rate celebrity among your shady friends; those chaotic women are not what you need. Do you hear me?"
"Mm." Qin Xian replied casually.
Old Qin felt a sense of frustration.
...
On a summer afternoon, the sun blazed down, and even the slightest breeze felt stifling.
Inside the car, the air conditioning kept the heat outside at bay, creating a surprising temperature difference.
Grandpa Zhang and Shu Ran were chatting casually.
"Your Grandpa Qin is like that; he sometimes likes to joke around, but you don't need to take it to heart."
Shu Ran shook her head, indicating she didn't mind, and said, "It's nothing; I think Grandpa Qin is really nice and warm-hearted."
Uncle Jiang, sitting in the driver's seat, smiled upon hearing this.
He silently thought to himself: Girl, you are still too young.
