He seemed oblivious to her haggard appearance, accompanying her day after day without any disdain or disgust. 0

Shu Ran lowered her eyes in guilt, her long eyelashes coming together to cast a shadow beneath them. 0

Even she felt ugly looking at herself like this, let alone him. 0

A woman beautifies herself for the one she loves, and Shu Ran truly couldn't bear to see, nor did she want to see, herself in such a state. 0

She spent over an hour giving herself a thorough makeover. 0

From brushing her teeth and washing her face to skincare and moisturizing, washing her hair and taking a shower. From head to toe, she completely rid herself of the disheveled appearance and returned to a brand new self. 0

Every day in this world, people are born and others pass away; this is the norm of life. 0

By today, she had come to terms with it. 0

She couldn't cling to the past, causing the living to worry for her in vain. 0

Let the past be the past. 0

It was time for her to start living anew. 0

Standing by the window drying her hair, when she looked down at the street below, she noticed many cars parked at the entrance, one of which was her most familiar Black Audi. 0

It was the same model as the one he had given her. 0

Sometimes Shu Ran thought it was amusing; while other couples had matching outfits or shoes that made them stand out together, he had gifted her a car. 0

What did that mean? Were they supposed to each drive their own car when going out? 0

Silly, really silly, Shu Ran thought as she couldn't help but chuckle softly. 0

"What are you laughing at?" A deep male voice suddenly came from behind her. Slowly, he leaned closer to her pristine neck and softly asked, "Hmm?" 0

Shu Ran paused her hand that was playing with her hair, and the other hand automatically pressed the button to turn off the hairdryer, instantly bringing silence to the room. 0

She did not turn around, only responding lightly with a smile at the corners of her lips, “It’s nothing, have you finished your work?” 0

The scent of shampoo lingered in her half-damp hair, wafting into his nose. It tempted him to gently embrace her, burying his head in her hair, lost in the rich fragrance that enveloped her. He spoke in a low voice from behind her ear, “Everything is ready; we’re just waiting for Mrs. Qin to set off.” 0

When his warm body pressed against her cold skin, Shu Ran couldn’t help but shiver, especially at the mention of Mrs. Qin. Her face instantly flushed with two rosy hues, blooming shyly. After a moment, she awkwardly said, “Um… let’s go then.” 0

Just as she was about to turn around, he grabbed her shoulder. “Wait, let’s dry your hair first; don’t catch a chill.” 0

Her body had been weak lately; she had a fever twice and caught a cold once in the past two months and still hadn’t fully recovered. 0

The weather outside was so cold; if she went out with wet hair, wouldn’t that just make her illness worse? 0

So he took the hairdryer from her hand, adjusted the temperature with his long fingers, and began to dry her hair slowly. 0

At first, he didn’t know how to use it properly. After blowing the outer layer haphazardly, he reached in and realized the inner layer was still damp. 0

It turned out that drying hair wasn’t as simple as it seemed. It required patience to lift each layer and dry it thoroughly while shaking the dryer instead of directing it straight at her to avoid burning her. 0

His movements were gentle, his gaze focused; he was completely immersed in drying her hair at that moment, taking it very seriously. 0

Shu Ran saw him through the reflection in the glass window, concentrating earnestly on drying her hair. For some inexplicable reason, her heart softened completely; she felt an overwhelming urge to turn around and hug him. 0

A man who is willing to stand by you during your most lost and disheartened moments, caring for you attentively—how rare and precious that is. Shu Ran knew this all too well. 0

If before this moment she had harbored fears of being abandoned by him or thought he might just be playing with her feelings, then through their days together recently, she should have understood what they meant to each other. 0

Finally finishing drying her hair, it was already close to noon. 0

Shu Yi, Yu Xinyou, and Little Yu Yu were waiting downstairs. Yu Xinyou had even prepared a lavish spread of dishes for lunch, nine out of ten of which were Shu Ran’s favorites. 0

This was because after this meal, her sister-in-law—his younger sister—would soon be moving into her new home. 0

Shu Yi felt the most reluctant, so while waiting, he was filled with worry and unease, constantly thinking about his younger sister. 0

After all, they had grown up together and had rarely quarreled. Their relationship had always been harmonious and close; he cared for her, and Shu Ran respected him, having been obedient to him since childhood. 0

However, as time passed, many things happened. 0

They had also grown up and developed their own thoughts and feelings; their lives were now theirs to decide how to live. 0

She had chosen that man, and even though he tried to be at ease, he had to force himself to accept the fact that his sister was already married. 0

On the other hand, Yu Xinyou was not overly worried about her; after all, she had gone through similar experiences. She understood how it felt for a girl to leave the home she had lived in for over twenty years, the place that had accompanied her for so long. 0

So at the dining table, she enthusiastically and attentively served Shu Ran food. It was not only to encourage her to eat more but also to help her regain the weight she had lost from her cheeks. 0

Every time she saw Shu Ran, Yu Xinyou felt as if she were looking at her own younger sister, which made her treat her with great affection. 0

The atmosphere at the dining table was somewhat strange. Yu Xinyou desperately served her dishes while Shu Ran stared blankly, slowly taking bites. Sometimes she ate too quickly and accidentally choked. The other three at the table immediately scrambled to find water to help her. 0

But once she stopped coughing, they would return to their seats, each unwilling to speak first. Especially Qin Xian and Shu Yi, who remained silent throughout the meal; Shu Yi kept his mouth shut while Qin Xian was even less likely to take the initiative. 0

This left Shu Ran feeling quite awkward as she sat in between them. 0
