Looking at his bloodied hands, Shu Ran was panicked and helpless, her clear, transparent eyes filled with tears as she repeatedly cried out in fear, "Qin Xian, Qin Xian... please stop..."
Hearing her cries, Qin Xian paused his movements for a moment. After a while, he slowly turned his head and saw her weakly kneeling beside him, gasping for breath as she cried and helplessly called his name. She didn't even care that her hat and scarf had fallen to the ground, and it felt as if something had pierced his heart.
He gritted his teeth to suppress the surging hostility within him, took a deep breath, and finally released Wen Yihuan, who was pinned to the ground. He slowly stood up and walked forward.
Wen Yihuan's friends were also covered in injuries. Initially too scared to approach, they quickly rushed over to help the bloodied Wen Yihuan up when they saw Qin Xian finally let go.
After standing up, Qin Xian made a phone call. Within three minutes, Chen Jin arrived with a large group of men in black.
Wen Yihuan and his friends hadn't even had time to leave when they found themselves surrounded by this massive force. They didn't know who had called the police, but at that moment, the officers arrived just in time, leading to a chaotic scene.
The police chief had originally rushed to the scene with great authority, intending to find out who dared to cause trouble in the middle of the night and teach them a lesson. However, upon arriving, he was taken aback by the large group of men in black surrounding the area.
In the center of the crowd stood a man with an icy demeanor, looking at him with sharp eyes. The police chief shivered at that gaze; before he could recall who this imposing man was, he suddenly saw Chen Jin walking toward him.
Who was Chen Jin? He was famously known as one of Qin Family's Qin Shao's subordinates—intelligent and cunning, ruthless and merciless—having completely inherited Qin Xian's methods. He was feared in both the underworld and law enforcement.
Even the director of the bureau showed him respect; how could he not feel intimidated?
What was he doing here? Did this incident have anything to do with Qin Shao?
The police chief watched as Chen Jin approached him, an unspoken fear evident in his eyes as his attitude unconsciously became submissive.
He looked at Chen Jin, who stood before him with a calm smile and said something in a voice meant only for two people—words that made his legs go weak instantly. In fear, he couldn't help but glance toward the man standing in the center of the crowd. Just seeing his profile made the police chief shake his head in terror. He turned back to the bewildered officers and ordered them to retreat and go back.
Chen Jin smiled faintly and said, "Then I thank you on behalf of Qin Shao. Next month, when you get promoted, the Qin Family will prepare a proper gift for you. Now, please take your leave."
"Alright, alright." The sheriff was so frightened that he hurriedly got into his police car and drove away without looking back, leaving Wen Yihuan and his friends in disarray.
Watching the sheriff's retreating figure, Chen Jin slowly turned around, a half-smile on his face as he looked at the group. He walked up to Qin Xian and respectfully asked, "Qin Shao, how should we proceed next?"
Shu Ran didn’t know what Qin Xian said; she only saw Chen Jin nodding and then withdrawing a group of men in black. He then approached Wen Yihuan, but their voices were too low and distant for her to hear clearly.
All she knew was that Wen Yihuan's pupils dilated in shock as he glanced back at Shu Ran, then incredulously turned away, unable to hide the anger in his tone as he responded to Chen Jin. His face was bloodied, and in his fury, his features twisted into a fierce expression.
Suddenly, Wen Yihuan strained against his friends' hold and tried to rush toward her.
However, he was injured and too weak; despite his efforts, he couldn't move an inch with two friends holding him back.
Shu Ran watched him with eyes devoid of color, feeling an overwhelming sense of despair.
She stood there in a daze, from beginning to end; Qin Xian had only shaken off her hand and stood alone by the roadside. Whether he was making a phone call or speaking with Chen Jin, he never cast a glance in Shu Ran's direction.
The tears on her face had long been dried by the cold wind and lightly brushed by the snow, leaving an inexplicable sting. Shu Ran didn’t know what he would think; she felt utterly disheveled and her mind was a mess. She had no idea how to approach him or explain herself—she could only silently watch him.
Qin Xian seemed to sense her gaze; he turned coldly to see her fragile and wronged face. Unconsciously frowning, he hardened his heart and shot her a disdainful glance before coldly turning away to the Black Audi. He opened the door, got in the car, and drove off without looking back.
Shu Ran watched him leave, her body stiff for several minutes. Her palms were icy cold, and her heart felt like it had turned to ice.
She knew that Qin Xian was truly angry.
He might never forgive himself.
Ke Shuran felt so wronged; clearly, she had done nothing at all.
But almost in an instant, Shu Ran got into the car and started the engine, hurriedly rushing back to the Qin Residence. She didn't know if he would be home, but she understood that some things couldn't wait until morning. Even if they were angry, it couldn't be left unresolved overnight; they needed to clarify things. Otherwise, after this night, no matter how openly they spoke, there would always be a barrier left in their hearts.
Without stopping, Shu Ran made it home in half an hour. From a distance, she saw that the lights at Qin Residence were still dimly lit, and her heart sank.
What if he wasn't home? What if he went out and she couldn't find him? What if he didn't give her a chance to explain?
Shu Ran was scared.
But fortunately, she spotted Qin Xian's Black Audi parked in the large parking lot of the house.
Shu Ran breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, he was home.
After parking the car and getting out, Shu Ran rushed towards the front door. When she unlocked it and stepped inside, she realized that not a single light was on in the house. It was pitch black everywhere, sending chills down her spine.
Taking a deep breath, Shu Ran fumbled in the dark to turn on the lights and ran upstairs.
Upon reaching the upper floor, it was still dark and eerily quiet; not a sound could be heard. Even the doors to the rooms were tightly shut, as if no one had come up at all.
