"Lin Feng, have a cup of coffee," Su Qing said as she placed a cup of coffee in front of him. She then walked to his side, and together they looked out at the scenery outside the window.
"Thank you," Lin Feng replied, taking the coffee and sipping it lightly.
"You seem to be much more relaxed lately," Su Qing observed, a hint of a smile on her face as she looked at him.
"Yeah, everything has come to an end, and I can finally take a break," Lin Feng said with a smile.
"That's good to hear." Su Qing smiled back, but there seemed to be an unspoken emotion hidden within her smile.
After a moment of silence, Su Qing gathered her courage, looked at Lin Feng, and softly said, "Lin Feng, I..."
"What is it?" Lin Feng turned to look at Su Qing, noticing her flushed cheeks and flickering gaze.
"I... I..." Su Qing took a deep breath as if she had made an important decision. She looked at Lin Feng and said clearly, "I like you!"
Lin Feng was taken aback; he hadn't expected Su Qing to confess her feelings so suddenly. He stared at her, his eyes filled with surprise and complex emotions.
Su Qing's heart raced; she didn't know how Lin Feng would respond, but she knew she could no longer suppress her feelings. She had fallen for this man—his strength, his bravery, his sense of responsibility.
The room fell silent, with only the faint sound of traffic outside breaking the stillness.
Lin Feng looked at Su Qing, opening his mouth but unsure of what to say. He was not completely oblivious to her affection; however, after the pain from his previous relationship, he wasn't ready to embrace new feelings.
"Su Qing, I..." Lin Feng hesitated. He didn't know how to respond to her feelings. He didn't want to hurt her but also couldn't offer her any promises.
Su Qing looked at Lin Feng, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes, but she did not give up. She reached out her hand and gently held Lin Feng's hand, saying, "Lin Feng, I know you are not ready yet. I'm not in a hurry; I can wait until you are willing to start over..."
Lin Feng felt the warmth from her palm. Su Qing's hand was soft and warm, and her gaze was firm yet gentle, causing the words he originally wanted to reject to get stuck in his throat. He looked at Su Qing, feeling a mix of emotions. During this time after their divorce, he had seen and remembered all the care and help Su Qing had given him. He knew she was a good girl who deserved to be loved, but he was afraid of being hurt again and also afraid of hurting Su Qing.
"Su Qing, I..." Lin Feng tried to explain but didn't know how to start.
"You don't have to say anything," Su Qing interrupted him, holding his hand back with determination in her eyes. "I know what you're worried about, but when it comes to feelings, no one can predict anything. I just want to tell you that I'm always here."
After finishing her words, Su Qing stood up, picked up her bag, and turned to leave. When she reached the door, she paused without looking back and softly said, "Get some rest; I'm leaving now."
After Su Qing left, Lin Feng sat alone on the sofa, staring at the now-cold coffee on the table, lost in thought. Su Qing's words echoed in his ears; he understood her feelings and was touched by her bravery, but could he really let go of the past and start anew?
A few days later, Lin Feng took his daughter Lin Keke to the hospital to visit Liu Liuwen. Liu Liuwen's mental state was poor; she looked pale and had lost a lot of weight, lying on the hospital bed like a wilting flower.
"Mom..." Lin Keke ran over as soon as she saw Liu Liuwen and threw herself by the bedside, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Keke, why are you here?" Liu Liuwen managed to squeeze out a faint smile and reached out to touch her daughter's head.
"Dad brought me to see you," Lin Keke said, pointing at Lin Feng, who was standing behind her.
Liu Liuwen turned to look at Lin Feng, her expression complex, filled with guilt, reluctance, and deep exhaustion.
"Are you... okay?" Liu Liuwen's voice was soft, as if afraid to disturb something.
"I'm fine. You focus on getting better," Lin Feng replied calmly, without much emotional fluctuation.
"I'm sorry..." Tears streamed down Liu Liuwen's face. She knew she had made an irreparable mistake and hurt the person she loved the most.
"Let the past be the past," Lin Feng said lightly. "You take care of your health; we can talk about everything else later."
Lin Feng didn't want to bring up the past anymore. He knew that no matter what was said, it couldn't change the facts that had already occurred. Right now, he just wanted to take care of his daughter and give her a complete home.
"Dad, I want to spend some time alone with Mom," Lin Keke said, looking up at Lin Feng with understanding.
Lin Feng nodded and walked outside the hospital room, gently closing the door behind him. He leaned against the wall in the corridor, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.
