I was still in the kitchen making Braised Spicy Prawns. Although I didn't like such heavy-flavored food at all, my husband and son enjoyed it. To cater to their tastes, I had been eating these kinds of meals for the five years since I married into this family. The kitchen's exhaust fan was turned up to the maximum, yet I was still choked by the thick spicy smoke, causing tears to stream down my face. 0

Suddenly, I heard something shatter in the living room. When I went out to check, I saw my stepson, Li Ran, had broken the glass that my husband gave me as a token of our love—it was engraved with our initials and hearts intertwined. 0

"Li Ran, how could you break the cup?" I felt both frustrated and heartbroken. This cup was my only love token. 0

Li Ran glared at me, "Why are you being so fierce?" 0

"This cup belongs to our family; my dad bought it. Why are you being so fierce?" I clutched my chest, feeling a sharp pain spreading from my heart. 0

My mother-in-law came downstairs and hugged Li Ran tightly, "Zixuan, why are you being so fierce?" 0

"He's just a child; can't you be more accommodating as an elder?" 0

I replied, "Mom, this cup was a gift from Haoran." 0

My mother-in-law said, "It's just a cup. Can't you buy another one?" 0

I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could say anything, she continued, "What are you doing? Did you forget to turn off the fire? The prawns in the pot are burnt." 0

I hurried back to the kitchen and found that the prawns were indeed charred black. 0

"Mom, I didn't mean to..." 0

Before I could finish my sentence, my mother-in-law's expression turned stern: "Zixuan, I know you're feeling upset since you married into our family. But you shouldn't take it out on the child. Ran is still young; his father is busy. Can't you be a bit more understanding?" 0

Looking at her face filled with dissatisfaction and reproach towards me, I felt extremely wronged. Tears began to fall heavily down my cheeks. 0

At noon, my husband came home. 0

After understanding the situation, he frowned at Li Ran and said, "Ranran, apologize to your mother." 0

Li Ran pouted defiantly, "I won't." 0

My mother-in-law added, "Haoran, Zixuan is making a big deal out of nothing. How can you scold a child like that?" 0

My husband said sternly, "Ranran, how does Daddy usually teach you?" 0

Li Ran pouted again, "I'm sorry." 0

Seeing his unwillingness, I felt angry but my frustration had already faded significantly. 0

I smiled and served him some food, saying, "Alright, just be more careful next time." 0

My mother-in-law remarked sarcastically, "Zixuan, you're not this nice to Ranran." 0

The dining table fell silent in an instant. 0

That night, after I coaxed my daughter Yun Yun to sleep, I collapsed on the bed, utterly exhausted. 0

My thoughts were like weeds in spring, growing wildly. 0

I wanted to talk to my husband but seeing him still busy, I decided to wait for him in the bathroom. 0

"Haoran, let's move back to the old house," I said while looking at my tired reflection in the mirror. "It feels strange with Mom and Ranran here." 0

My husband yawned and replied, "Let's talk about it later. I've been really busy and tired lately." 0

He went into the guest room again. 0

Five years ago, I was in my junior year of college. 0

Due to financial difficulties at home, I worked part-time off-campus. 0

It was during that time that I met my husband Li Haoran, who was inspecting stores. 0

He fell in love with me at first sight and pursued me relentlessly afterward. 0

During that period, I had to balance my studies and manage relationships with my roommates; it was truly hectic. 0

But every time after class, I would see Li Haoran waiting for me downstairs in front of the classroom building, well-dressed, driving his little car and holding a cup of milk tea. 0

He is seven years older than me, successful in his career, and mature and steady. Under his passionate pursuit, I fell for him. 0
